I've been eating here for close to 20 years now and this was the absolute worst food we have ever received from any restaraunt around here. I stopped ordering from them a few months ago when they started jacking up the prices. In this economy you do what you gotta do to keep employees though I totally understand that. My family and I just decided it was no longer worth it for what you get. Fast forward to 1/8/2024, we decided to treat ourselves and just ignore prices this time. As expected the prices have increased (which we figured would be the case) we got our order to go and as we went to dive in we knew something was up. My mom's corned beef hash had come from a can, there is no mistaking that whatsoever! We've ordered it several times before and it never looked like that. The eggs were greasy, the biscuits were extremely hard. Sometimes foods just not what you expect. Once again we get that, it happens. We also ordered the Mariner Mess which we've always loved but this time it was also terrible! It was so over salted we couldn't even eat it the eggs were way over cooked the cheese was also very greasy and the veggies were also very hard! We actually threw the food away which is unheard of in my family, my brother can eat damn near anything. Don't take this out on the servers they've always been very good! I don't know if we got someone's returned order or they got a new chef, but after 20 years we'll never eat here again!!! Sad but true,...
Read moreWell, my dear friends, gather 'round as I spin a tale of my recent escapade to the whimsical Mariner Cafe. Tucked away in a quaint corner of a bustling town, this establishment promises a taste of the sea with their signature fish and chips.
As I crossed the threshold, I was immediately struck by the nautical charm that enveloped me. From the whimsical décor of seashells and fishing nets to the jovial sea shanties that filled the air, it was a delightful immersion into a maritime fantasy.
Now, onto the main event - the fish and chips! A British classic, done justice here with a flourish of flair. The fish, tender and flaky, practically melted in my mouth with each glorious bite. Encased in a crisp, golden batter that crackled with every forkful, it was a symphony of textures.
And the chips, oh, the chips! Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, they were a revelation of potato perfection. Accompanied by a tangy tartar sauce that danced upon the palate, each bite was a delightful journey into seaside indulgence.
But let us not forget the accoutrements! A refreshing side of coleslaw, a symphony of colors and crunch, provided a lovely contrast to the richness of the main dish. And for those with a penchant for spice, a dash of malt vinegar added the perfect zing.
The service? Impeccable, as one would expect from a diner of such repute. The staff, attentive and friendly, adding to the overall ambiance of seaside...
Read moreIt looked good from the outside so we stopped. It's seat yourself which is fine. The lady who initially approached us, Joe or Joan I don't know which, couldn't even look at us. She kept shoving the menu in my face and because she wasn't looking Miss the fact that my wife was reaching out to take it first. She has zero customer service skills. She was brushed to the point of rudeness, and displayed no interest in doing her job. When she brought the water, it did not improve. It was very clear she would have rather have served any other customer but us. A different, younger, girl took our order. I thought things were improving, at least she had a better attitude. However, we noticed that there were customers leaving because they didn't get their food in a timely manner, and the girl who took our order was behind the cash register, reaching into her purse and eating food from it before returning to serve customers without washing her hands. The prices were decent for the community that served. And it does match the quality of food coming out of the kitchen. However, I think the oil turned because the fries tasted a little off. Not a biggie in and of itself, but it didn't help with the plethora of other things going on. Definitely a one-time experience, and one we wished we could have missed all together. We should have gone with our first impression, which is walking out after the way we were greeted. Definitely will...
