My husband and I stayed here as part of our anniversary trip to Northern California. This was our first stay in Sonoma, and my husband found this in a Google search. It looked lovely online and in a good location, so we booked it--and we were not at all disappointed! ||This is a beautiful gated collection of bungalows of different sizes that have all been recently renovated. Walk through the front gates, and you are met by an Italian-style garden and courtyard, with a water feature wall, gas firetables, loads of comfortable seating, a Bocci ball court, and signs directing you to the various bungalows. There isn't a parking lot, but there is ample street parking and it's a safe neighborhood. (This is on a residential street.)||We stayed in a ground-level one for 2 people that had comfortable seating, a small eat-in kitchen table, a kitchen fully stocked with dishes and kitchenware, a complimentary bottle of wine and waters, a big comfie bed with pillows, a fireplace, a big-screen TV, an A/C unit, and a big spacious bathroom. All done in light colors and clean, modern furnishings.||The concierge met us in the courtyard and showed us to our bungalow but also gave us a tour of some of the larger units that had recently been redone, so some of these have separate bedrooms/bathrooms and living rooms --perfect if you are traveling with another couple.||Bungalows 313 is a very short walk (less than 2 blocks) to the town square, where there are loads of restaurants and wine tasting rooms. The first night we were there, there was a concert in the square, with food trucks, arts and crafts, and other things for purchase.||In the evenings, we could walk to the Girl & Fig or the Mexican restaurant, and in the mornings, we'd walk to the Sunflower Cafe for carryout coffee and breakfast. We could walk to Pangloss Cellars or any number of other wine tasting rooms. We did one day trip to go winery hopping in Napa (about 30 mins away), and one day trip to go winery hopping in Sonoma (most wineries within 15-20 mins).||One thing to note is that restaurants in Sonoma close very early -- about 8 p.m. Only Murphy's Irish Restaurant stays open til 11 p.m., more as an afterwork gathering spot for the other restaurant workers. Stores tend to open pretty late, as well, often not til noon. It's a rather quiet little town and very quaint, with a focus on quality wine and food. ||We would go for dinner and then come back to the Bungalows, where we would open a nice bottle of wine and sit outside by the fire, reading or playing a game. It was so relaxing and lovely. ||I highly recommend Bungalows 313 for your...
Read moreI haven't rented this home as a vacation stay but my parents rented it back in the late 60s-early 70s. This was actually my very first home, August 1970 ❤️. I believe my mom has quite a few photos from our time living here. I'll gather some to share.
✳️Funny story: The window in the downstairs kitchen is where my mom's dog bit my dad in the leg. My mom told me my dad was locked out and decided to climb through the window. He had one leg in and Buffy the beastly Poodle was having none of it.
Sonoma has changed a lot since but it still holds original charm. We have many photos dating back some time. My great grandfather came to Sonoma from Germany where he worked as a Cooper. He built Weyl Hall (now Sonoma Hotel), purchased land on Mission Highlands and Spain Street and even became Mayor.
My grandfather & siblings were born in the large two story white home (on Spain Street). The home at 132 W. Spain Street was where my grandparents George and Katherine Weyl lived. At 15 yrs old, my Grama met my grandfather while she was working at El Dorado Hotel. They moved into the home built by my grandfather. My mom and uncle were brought home from the hospital and my grandparents never lived in another home ❤️. I'm grateful I have 46 years of memories with my grandparents in that home.
To those visiting Sonoma, I hope you have a wonderful time & make great memories. Thank you for reading my lengthy story. I would love to revisit & spend a weekend in my first home. ❤️ It would be AMAZING! It looks absolutely stunning!! Everything is so beautiful. You did a fantastic job!
Sincerely,
Stephanie...
Read moreWe could not have been happier with our stay at Bungalows 313. We stayed in the Dolce suite and found it to be perfectly appointed for our week long stay in Sonoma. The king sized bed was very comfortable and super soft pillows. We used the gas grill on the back patio and it worked well. Our favorite spots were on the bistro table on our front patio (perfect morning coffee spot) , along with the stunning fountain and firepit on the courtyard. The whole property exuded relaxation. The location was incredibly convenient, a very short walk to the Plaza, as well as steps to a lovely walking and biking trail. Before booking we spent considerable time looking at all the rental options, and with never being to Sonoma before, we hoped the Bungalows 313 website was an accurate representation. I can hands down say that the property is even more gorgeous in person and you will not be disappointed if you stay here. It avoids the hustle of some of the bigger lodges and hotels, and the bustle of staying in one of the small hotels right on the Plaza. We absolutely will be making a return trip...
