The Marvins Garden Inn — Hotel in Southfield

This Inn has all the makings of a really great place to stay, however it is lacking sorely in the housekeeping department. The decor could be great, if it were clean. There was small bits of dirt and such in the halls, the carpets needed to be vacuumed and the carpet on the landings was really filthy around the edges.

I checked in late but Kelly was really really great! She helped me get my stuff up to my room and showed me in! She was definitely one of the best parts of my stay!

The room was nice, the bed was comfortable, but the mirrors were dirty, the carpet needed swept, and the shower doors were dirty. The air conditioner smelled I pulled out the filters, and they looked like they hadn't been cleaned in well over a year. I cleaned about a quarter of an inch of solid dirty dust off them, and put the them back and it didn't smell after that. There was a ripped, cheap plastic matress cover on the matress which crinkled when you moved on the bed. The matress itself was dirty on the edges and sides but the top didn't seem too bad, nothing that a carpet/upholstery cleaner wouldn't make nice. It was a comfortable matress to sleep on though. The pillows were nice, however pillowcases were inside out and the sheets were well used but soft. If this place was kept clean it could be a place I would come back to and recommend. Sad that it could be so great if only housekeeping would pay attention to detail and clean...

I didn't hate it the room itself was fine the desk person was rude, Her attitude needs some adjustment. When I presented her with my credit card. She informed me they don't accept cards without the chip..... that's news to me its still a major credit card. I then presented same desk person with my debit card which she said was declined. When I reached my car my mobile app showed the amount pending. I ended up paying cash glad I had it. But have yet to have my money returned to my account. I would recommend that u do NOT give them ur card use cash they can't f u that way Other than that it was a pleasant stay. Ps. The manager was not helpful either at getting my funds released. Regardless of anything I paid in cash So when I alerted them that funds were being held by their establishment ment they should've made better efforts return my money I paid cash for the room there was no need to inconvenience me like they did. Im still waiting and its been almost 2 weeks ago. Hope this helps...

One of the worst hotel experience. We arrived late at night without a reservation, the receptionist was really nice. When I asked for a non-smoking room she said they were sold out, however due to the fact that we had a non-smoking sign on our door I don't think they sell any. Something must have happened because when we wanted to drive down the parking lot to our building the street was blocked by three police cars. Entering the building it didn't get any better. An old bath tub was standing on the side of the entrance, upstairs where our room was the whole corridor smelled like smoke and so did out room. Old towels behind the chair in the corner and used soap on the floor behind the bathroom door.
