Hilton Garden Inn's best attribute is that it's so close to the freeway. It's definitely the easiest to get to directly from I-5. And the easiest to get back into as well. The gateway intersection back toward Eugene and the freeway is one of the most chaotic intersections in Eugene/Springfield so it's easy to pull into somewhere wanting to turn around, only to realize you are forced to go back toward the direction you were going before pulling off.
The location also allows you to walk to a few places around (iHop, taproom, many stores, etc.). You do have to cross the busy intersection however, using the cross walk.
As far as other aspects that come to mind about the hotel is it's indoor pool and hot tub, that is always a kick for the kids to play in and adults to relax in. Everything about the hotel is clean. To the rooms, to the sit down restaurant style breakfast/lunch/dinner, to the workout room and pool. That is one thing no one can criticize. And cleanliness is very important.
The beds are comfortable to and in fact, you are able to control the firmness with a control on the side of the bed. We didn't need to adjust ours, but it's great there's an option for that.
There's 5 stories total and elevators that are fast and reliable. Again, we stayed on a Saturday night and it wasn't very busy.
The complaint I have is the breakfast. Now, yes, it is better than so many Continental breakfasts at all the other places, but for a 3* hotel, I expected more. Especially because we have to pay for it ($10 .50 per adult, $4.50 child). It is a buffet and they do cook it fresh, but there isn't a lot to differentiate it from a cold Continental. Eggs, fried potatoes were the highlight, but for $10.50, I'd like to see more meat options. Sausage, sausage patties, hamburger even, to make a sandwich with. Just more options. We paid $150 for the night, so I don't want to spend more on an ok breakfast menu. Yes, it's convenient to be able to just walk downstairs and eat, but I could have walked across the street and ate at iHop for less than $10.50.
It's a comfortable place though. They should just refine...
Read moreWon't return. Instead of a comfortable, cozy room it was stark and way too modern. A single small drawer in the room - otherwise there were two shelves starting at the floor and ending two feet up (above was the fridge, TV etc) which meant that only first few inches were reachable without having to get on the floor on all fours - they were virtually useless. There was plenty of room for a full size dresser but, alas, sacrificed for fashion I suppose. Even the bedside table was without drawers OR shelves - just like a shelf. The beds were the worst. Comfortable ONCE YOU GOT ON THEM. They were incredibly high. I am 5'5" and literally had to jump to get on the bed. My son is 6'1" and his feet dangled when he sat on his. Woebetide any short people who try to sleep here - you will literally have to stack up your suitcases to create steps. Decor was nonexistant, although I think they THOUGHT it was accomplished. Three small pictures on one wall in a neat row. Laminate flooring with a carpet between the beds. Flesh-colored walls and some odd colored curtains. No color coordination. Indeed, colors ranged from pastel to very bold. What a mish-mash. I hope they didn't pay somebody for that. Very cold feeling room. I'd expect, it being a Hilton property and higher priced that neighbors, there would be real glasses not plastic wrapped plastic cups that will be headed to the landfill. Staff was cold and disinterested. No free breakfast offered but you could but into the buffet if you want. Nope, not want. They need to be reminded they are not a destination hotel but rather a stop over on the way to somewhere else. Guests arrive after a long drive and just want a comfortable, familiar room to rest up for the next day's journey. Really missing the mark...
Read moreThere was not a king bed available which was fine, so had a room with 2 queens. Told the price is $240.00 for the one night. The room was on the third floor on the freeway on ramp side. Very noisy. One bed was softer and the other one was firmer but everytime you moved on this bed the headboard moved and made noise. Four of the six pillows were lumpy the other two very large and soso. The first thing I noticed was the frige was frozen in the back so you could not adjust it. Second thing dust on the top of the lamp and in/on other things. The furniture needs to be replaced, it looked beat up with the exception of the desk chair and corner chair that needed cleaning. The bathroom had areas of mold and mold stains along the corners of the floor and tub area. Part way up the door jam and along the top appeared to be nicotine drip stains. There was what appeared to be blood or chocolate and black greese marks on the curtain. There was only a shampoo, conditioner, a small and larger bar of soap. No lotion or any other usual things supplied in the bathroom. There was no exast fan, heat vent or light. The right handle in the bathroom sink wobbled. The cabinet the counter is on needs relpacement or paint. My husband saw cobwebs in the corner toward the baseboards. We have stayed in much nicers hotels for half the cost in the same area. Walls and area between floors do not block the sound. I was woke up by laughing coming from the hall. I actually only had 2 hours and 49 mins sleep. The front desk staff was great. The bottom floor also looked nice. I noticed online that rooms are listed under $200.00 so I am wondering why I am being charged the $240.00 instead of the $179.00 I see online on your site. We stayed with...
