I chose this restaurant as it was close to our hotel so had no knowledge of its history. It was in a small strip mall near a bigger shopping center (so was a bit hard to find with GPS directions as we were in the larger shopping center driving around until we found the smaller one at one end.) But it was worth the search after we entered what appeared to be a small 'family' style restaurant from the outside, but turned out to be a much larger restaurant once inside. It was pretty dark at first, but as our eyes adjusted to the light, everything went uphill from there. Hot, thin, delicious chips and dip arrived with our menus. The waitress was fast, attentive, and friendly throughout. I ordered a margarita that required two hands to lift. My husband ordered a burrito that was massive and colorful with the rice and beans inside. I ordered a 2 entree combo plate and they offered a choice of beans instead of just the standard refried so chose black beans which were perfectly cooked along with the best tasting chicken enchilada and chile rellano I have ever had! Both of us planned to take half our meals back to our hotel room for later but just couldn't stop eating the delicious food so cleaned our plates. We enjoyed it very much, and the price was very reasonable for the quality and size of the meals served. We will stop there again when we pass through the Eugene/Springfield area...

The "Mexican Favorites" part of the menu states (beneath the title) that the items in that section come with rice and beans. I ordered a taco salad and when it showed up it did not come with rice and beans. I asked the server and she explained that it doesn't actually come with those sides, so I asked to see a menu and showed her where it clearly stated that the section I ordered from included rice and beans. She advised that multiple items in that section don't actually come with rice and beans and it is not stated anywhere in the item descriptions that they are excluded.
On top of that the taco salad is meat, lettuce, and cheese in a fried tortilla. $3.99 to add guac and sour cream, $0.99 to just add sour cream, and $3.99 to add guac to just the top. I did not opt for any add-ons as I believed it would come with rice and beans. It didn't taste amazing, it tasted like boiled chicken with iceberg lettuce strips with very little flavor.
I did not speak with a manager while I was there, but I think the menus should be changed or all items in that section should come with rice and beans...
Read moreWent to dinner with my family and the food was delicious, when it came to my drink. I asked for another when the sodas came out with just the carbonated water without the flavoring. I revived another one they were the same as before. When I asked for it to be removed the assistant manager who was my server denied me. My son and I ended up with nothing to drink but was charged. I also had to ask for water to drink as they did not proved anything thing in its place. The assistant manager also put his own tip $13.40 on my check without my permission, and did not give me a print out until I asked because of other issues. He also got upset and slammed a glass cola cola on my table, pertaining to the soda issue, which did not cover the $7.00 worth of soda charges. The other servers do not know what do when a problem occurs. They acted like they were so busy to help the situation. I would like to go back for the food, but the with this kind of service its worth the cost...
