We encountered the worst experience with a rude, unprofessional check in clerk. The mountain of errors and lack of communication definitely put us off from going back to Motel 6 in Springfield, Oregon. First off, I would like to say the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the cleaning staff was very friendly and prompt when we asked for a second pillow. As far as our dissatisfaction, allow me to explain the situation and circumstances. We made the reservation weeks in advance and had explained we needed a downstairs room, we have a large well-behaved dog, my husband is disabled and requires a cane to walk, he cannot do stairs And we were coming to town for his eye to be operated on. This was made very clear when making the reservations! We showed up after his eye surgery right around check in time (3 o’clock hour), I started the check in process and was told my husband had to come in and show his ID, my 76 year old husband came in eye patched up and using his cane, showed his ID and I continued on with the reservation, gave her my card (which was already on file), I took the paperwork she handed me containing the room key card, WiFi password, motel map, car parking pass, etc. at which time I notice the room number began with a 2. I asked if the room was upstairs and she said Yes. I then informed her this was not what we had requested. Her demeanor drastically changed as it showed she was obviously unhappy with my displeasure and rudely told me they were low on clean sheets. I told her we had no problem waiting for a downstairs room, she said she could not quarantine us a downstairs room no matter how long we waited. When I asked her to check her computer to see if someone had checked out of a downstairs room, I was told that was not possible, I then suggested she call room maintenance to see if they were working on any rooms downstairs … I believe you have the idea. This whole interaction was completely unpleasant, unprofessional and made it clear that she did not care about our situation or have any desire to help us, it was a totally ugly experience! I told her to just cancel the room, reimburse my card, that we would go elsewhere. I was informed that she could not delete/cancel the transaction and reimburse my card, nor could she guarantee that we would get our money back, she further stated it was up to management and if and only if it was approved it would be 3 to 5 days! When asked to talk to management we were told they were on vacation. My husband and I are on SSI and cannot afford to have our money tied up like that or worse yet, not be reimbursed. So under the circumstances we felt we had no choice but to stay. I asked about an elevator and was told there was none (even though I could hear the one the staff was using). I carefully guided my husband up the stairs to the room, come back down to guide our 100lb dog up the outside concrete stairs, then make a third trip for our overnight bag. All 3 trips were in plain view. The check in clerk is easily in her 30’s which makes me wonder how she would feel if someone treated her parents and/or grandparents in the same manner in which she treated us. Needless to say we have No intentions of staying at that...

This is the third, and final, time that we've chosen to stay at this motel. All three visits were disappointing. I made my reservation for a queen size bed, with a bathtub. We arrived at 2:30...30 minutes before check-in...and were told the room wasn't ready yet. Fair...we were there early, after all. They said it would be at least an hour before the room was ready. Okay. 3:30, it is. I returned at 3:30 to be lied to and told housekeeping was in that room as we spoke. I told them at that time that I am a recent amputee and after the drive, I really needed to get out of that car. They told me 15 minutes more and it would be ready. We spoke with housekeeping. We spoke with the front desk. We spoke with a gentleman that I'm not sure what his function was other than breathe...we didn't see him move more than he had to...and was also rude and arrogant about the fact that we were 45 minutes past check-in time and had the audacity to ask HIM about it. He lied to us a second time and said someone was getting ready to go over and clean it right then. We spoke to the manager and explained yet again that I am a recent amputee and I needed to get out of the car and into the room that I paid for. At 4:14, we were finally checking into our room. Upon opening the door, we discovered that the room had a double bed instead of the queen that we paid for. The bed was soft and comfortable, but not so much for my 6' 4", 300 pound husband. It was a small room, but the bathroom was good size, and equipped for handicap accessibility. Other than that, the room was a disaster. There was a 1/2" gap at the bottom and side of the door that they attempted to fix with a piece of metal...which was peeled back, making for a hazard, but doing little else...especially performing its intended function. The bathtub had to be cleaned before being used, and it was still questionable. There are large paint chips missing throughout the building and it's not very well kept. As stated before, this was my third stay with them, and all three times, the criminal element showed itself in a big way. The first time, a woman was trying to get her boyfriend to come out of the room so she could run him over. She was barrelling through the parking lot with tons of near-misses before the police got there. The second time, a homeless woman decided to take up residence on the walk in front of one of the upstairs rooms, again resulting in police presence. This morning, I was awoken to a woman screaming at the top of her lungs profanities that I'm not sure I've ever heard before today. Pets are permitted, but most are unruly and off leash. I would be very cautious about utilizing this particular motel. Save your money, time and patience and go elsewhere. It needs a ton of work. From the attitudes of the people that work there to the actual building and rooms, it all needs...
