Eric, my wife and I, as I told you on the phone, have the unfortunate living status of living in two separate states and have been that way for 2 years, Its hard, We see each other a couple weekends a month. So we do whatever we can to see each other. we have to travel a lot just to be together. But travel has gotten so expensive ,like everything else, we have to look for values in travel. AND as I also told you, we found a great flight to meet there in Provo neither of us live in UT, it was cheap and we also found this cute boutique hotel online that was done in mid century modern décor (our favorite architectural style BTW, we are huge Frank Lloyd Wright fans) it was perfect, cheap flight, cute place to stay. It seemed like it was going to save us a lot of searching in the future while saving us some $$ and still feel comfortable like home (because as you know chain hotels are the worst). So we planned a quick trip last minute because we both had a free weekend, we also had talked with some old friends that happen to live in SLC and they invited us to stay with them the weekend. But since the idea of not being alone ALL weekend wasn't sounding too perfect, we settled on staying with them on Friday, my wife would fly in that night and id make the 4 hour drive and meet there and I would go down early Friday meet our friends and play golf before her flight got in. Then we would stay at the cute boutique hotel Saturday night, sleep in and check out late Sunday since for $20 you can check out at 1:00. Well cheap flights being what they are, the flight got canceled last minute Friday night. Now I'm in SLC, my wife's not flying in tonight unless we play $1100 on another airline (which is insane) and the flight the next day gets in so late its not even worth coming out. So dejected I go into the car and drove home, on the way I realized I had to cancel my reservation at the hotel.
I called in and got ERIC (I assume he's the owner) I informed him I had to cancel, told him my situation and he said that's too bad and immediately, in the same breath, the 7 day cancelation policy was thrown in my face and since it was outside that I wouldn't get a refund (before I even asked for one, mind you). I had booked it the day before and was canceling for the next day, so I was never going to qualify for that anyway, weird policy but so be it. Well That's a sting, it was over $200, plus I paid extra upfront for the late checkout. I responded "so you won't refund me then?" since it was evident he wanted to make it clear that I wouldn't get my money back, it sounded like this is not the first time this had happened as quick as he was to bring it up. to which he responded "NO".I then proceeded to ask "if there is anyway to get a credit and I could just use it another night (since we really did want to stay there)?" He immediately replied "NO (for the second time), I cant do anything like that". "So you wont refund me and you wont give me a credit? I then told him I don't want to cancel it then since I don't want you to keep my money and then be able to rent it again, to which he snarkily replied "we'll be happy to have you then" I was frustrated now, he didn't care at all .so I told him "I don't see why he wont help us out and that I actually had just got on their website and saw that several of the rooms for that night I was canceling were still available, so I wasn't keeping a customer from staying there with my reservation and costing him money (I would actually have understood that). I told him that sucks and I'll leave a bad review since I'm now a paying customer. To which he replied "I don't understand why you're upset and telling me how to run my business, I'm trying to help you out (he couldn't be this clueless) and you're being abusive, this part annoyed me the most and was so condescending, put it on me for being annoyed with the lack of help, but here is my money for nothing. He ended up hanging up on me. no refund, no credit DEFINITELY no help. so here is my review, the service is 0 stars if I...

This is the perfect hotel for you if you have an artistic spirit, or if you’re eager for a hotel experience that’s totally different from your norm. Easy check-in and check-out feels somewhere between a hotel and an AirBnB.
Newly-remodeled historic 1800s hotel with midcentury modern flair. Comfortable beds in colorful rooms. Continental breakfast with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available to choose from.
The larger suites are especially spacious and suited to families, while the smaller suites are perfect for solo travelers or couples without children. We found the space perfectly suitable for remote work as well, with reliable wifi and quiet desk space.
The waffled robes and airy tiled bathrooms add a luxurious spa-like element to the experience. There is a hot tub in the beautifully landscaped courtyard, as well as a fire pit for your enjoyment. The rooms are stocked with coffee and midcentury modern appliances such as a microwave, fridge, and freezer.
The owners were lovely and accommodating. We decided to stay an extra night (you might, too– it’s that irresistible!) and they were quick to respond to our request and even allowed us to adjust our check-in.
This hotel was a highlight of a weeks-long cross country journey. Will definitely be back if I ever return...
Read moreI had a glorious time at the Art City Inn on my personal retreat. The suite I stayed in was beautifully clean and comfortable - full of personality. I loved the mixture of modern comforts and historic details. It had high ceilings, tall windows, stained glass, artistic lighting and new heating and air conditioning. That’s what I was wishing for when I looked for a place where I could be alone with my thoughts, and do my art, and write. And I found it!
The kitchenette had everything I needed - dishes, sink, counter space, little fridge & microwave, toaster, and coffee maker (all upscale retro.) So I could make my tea and sandwiches whenever I wanted. And Ginger’s Garden Café and the upscale Magleby’s restaurant are right around the block (both very good!)
I especially loved relaxing on the big balcony on the front of the Inn - just sitting in the comfortable chairs, watching the flags blowing in the breeze, and enjoying the shady trees, and the lovely views of the mountains and sky.
I was also delighted with their outdoor courtyard’s step-down area that has more shady trees and cushy seating. I loved hearing the water as it splashed down the rocks of the water feature, and watching the flames dancing on the fire pit table. It also has a really nice hot tub, and even an iron garden swing. Such a serene place to be.
The owners were exceptionally kind and accommodating - helping with my special needs, and making sure that my stay was just what I wanted...
