This place has rave reviews and I honestly have no idea how, unless they’re recently under new management and the reviews do not reflect that. If that’s the case, let me be the first to give an honest review. I do not recommend this place at all. We were told there was a 35 minute wait for a party of 2 which was totally fine with us so we put our name in and walked across the street to a coffee/art shop. Within 20 minutes our table was ready so we made our way back and was sat right away. A young woman came and took our drink order stating our server would be right with us but since we were ready to order she went ahead and put it in for us. We ordered one eggs Benedict and one classic breakfast, 2 eggs, extra crispy hash browns and corned beef hash with toast. Also ordered a biscuit and gravy that we mentioned would be taken home. Our server brings out our drinks and doesn’t say a word. We sit here for an additional 40ish minutes watching several tables that ordered after us get there food. Our coffee was never once refilled and then finally they bring out the order of biscuits and gravy and tell us they are going to offer a discount for it taking so long. We eat a few bites and patiently wait for the rest of our food. Wait another 10 minutes or so and the Benedict comes out and we’re told they’re still working on the corned beef hash. After another 10 minutes the rest of our meal comes out. You could tell the eggs Benedict had been sitting for a while because the yolks cooked completely thru. The corned beef hash was a very small helping and the hash browns were far from crispy. Our server showed up to the table next to us and I raised my hand so I could bring to her attention that we needed refills and that the Benedict was overdone. We made eye contact and she nodded to acknowledge me but then left and I never seen her again. At this point the original young woman who took our drinks/order came back around and asked if I’d like more tea. I went on to explain to her the fact we had been trying to get a refill for the last 20 minutes and how our server was completely ignoring us and that the meal was sub par at best. She told me she would take care of it and to wait there. I sat for another several minutes before I finally got up to go ask the hostess to speak with a manager. As I walked away from the table the young woman came up to me and said she was sorry and the meal was on them. The only reason I’m giving this a 2 star review is because of the young woman who generally seemed to care. Our waitress was completely ignorant to her customers and the food was not good. I am highly dissatisfied with this breakfast joint and if my review helps one person avoid the disappointment I went thru then I’ll...
Read moreMy husband and I embarked on a memorable cross-country journey, transitioning from the glittering lights of Las Vegas to the historical grandeur of Washington, D.C., as newlyweds. Amidst our adventure, we found ourselves nestled in St. Louis, a city we decided to explore for a few hours. Our night's sanctuary was the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch, a splendid hotel that left us yearning for more nights under its roof. However, with a few hours to spare, we opted for a delightful brunch at "Chris @ The Docket." We had perused reviews and menus beforehand, and both my husband and I were convinced it was the ideal spot to enjoy a leisurely morning meal.
The pleasant stroll from the Hyatt to Chris @ The Docket allowed us to soak in the local ambience, adding to the anticipation of our culinary experience. Upon arrival, we couldn't help but notice the vibrant festival taking place just across the street. Despite this tantalizing distraction, we remained committed to our brunch plans, eagerly providing our contact information to the host and patiently awaiting the notification that our table was ready.
In hindsight, our decision to stay the course was a regrettable one. We had been swayed by the glowing reviews, but our brunch experience left much to be desired. I ordered the chicken sandwich, only to be met with disappointment – it was the driest, most flavorless rendition of a chicken sandwich I had ever encountered. I couldn't help but think that I could whip up a more appetizing version at home.
Meanwhile, my husband's choice, the BLT, was equally underwhelming. To describe it as dry and rubbery would be an understatement. To make matters worse, the avocado in my sandwich had taken on an unappetizing shade of black, and the silverware we were provided with was far from clean. Our server, Robyn, exhibited an unwelcoming attitude, casting a shadow over the entire dining experience.
I remain utterly baffled by the hype surrounding this establishment. It is abundantly clear that the enthusiasm is unwarranted. As we nibbled on our disappointing meals, we discovered that the event across the street was "The Taste of Black St. Louis." In hindsight, I wished we had chosen to venture there and sample the offerings on display.
While the staff at Chris @ The Docket were courteous, the food simply did not meet the standards set by the reviews. It wasn't worth the price or the time invested. Allow me to offer some sage advice: bypass this establishment and seek out a dining experience that genuinely lives up to the hype. St. Louis undoubtedly has a plethora of culinary treasures...
Read moreVery good food! The experience was very memorable. I walked in and was nicely greeted by a young lady who complimented my new jacket 😊. My server was quickly attending her section and came over to me with such a friendly attitude that a non visible smile shown through her face mask. There was a couple romantically sitting side by side by the table near the window at the front of the building slowly enjoying their one on one time while she rested her head, satisfied from her meal, on her companies shoulder. On the other side of me was a group of women meeting for brunch while the main girl showed off her adorable new born girl and the other girls marveled at the delicious Mimosas they were having. My food came in it quick and I was so hungry I ate all of it. The waffle was crops and the omlette was stuffed full of hash browns.
Chris's is located across from city hall downtown stl and I don't know how many hundreds of times I have passed by them and never thought to stop in. I just so happened to be walked down to Regions bank after I got off of work, turned my head and as I glanced in the direction of the building my stomach growled as I read the word "breakfast" painted across one of their windows. There is no such thing as a coincidence in this lifetime. Everything happens for a reason. I will be back! Thank you ladies in the F.O.H. (front of house) and kudos to the ones in the B.O.H. (back of house). You made my stomach smile. 🔥😁🤙🥞🍳☕...OH! Don't forget to try their Cold Brew. It was...
