I honestly didn't think the movie theater experience could have gotten worse than the one I had at a Century theater, but AMC has done it again.
Just like with all the other theaters I went in and tried to get the full experience. I ordered food, did the whole reclining seat thing, and picked a movie that I felt like I would enjoy.
Overall, I can't say the movie experience was truly horrible, but there was always nothing unique about it either. This means the only thing I can judge is the quality theater, food, and the pricing.
As far as the theater itself, the seating was comfortable, the sound was good, and the visuals were up to snuff. With that being said, so were all of the other theaters I've visited since the end of the pandemic.
The food quality left me wanting. The hot dog was undersized and the popcorn was prefilled on the left on a shelf for who knows how long before I grabbed it. As a point of contention specific to the popcorn, having it premade means you can't do the classic butter in the middle move that balances out the flavor over the course of eating it.
On the upside, they did have a fancy Coke machine, you know the one, and they include nacho cheese with their pretzel bites instead of cheese sauce. Yes, there's a huge difference.
Lastly, let's talk about pricing. With the overall movies experience not standing out, and the food experience not even in the top 10, I'm sad to say the pricing only makes things worse. I've obviously been to other movie theaters in the recent past, and prices were way lower. Century, Cine 7, and Grand Lake still offer discounts for showing up when no one else is there, but I paid ~ $18 to see a movie at 4:10 in the afternoon, not the best. On top of that, the food is almost double what I saw at the other theaters.
A pretzel and a soda was $17.50. I did ask how big the pretzel was, and it was described as the size of a steering wheel, but even still seemed absorbent. I ended up ordering the classic large popcorn and soda combo (still $17), and adding pretzel bites and a hotdog for a grand total of $34. visuals.
In summary, I would have to rank AMC the biggest loser of the Pandemic movie theater adjustment phase, coming in way behind surviving locally owned theaters and the tech forward Century model. After visiting here, I'm almost inclined to go back and give Century another star based on a new...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe people hired who work there in the early shift for the most part seem inexperienced. My friends and I to prime where the seats were comfortable but the volume is excessively loud. Finally, I left my wallet in my seat at the end of the show I walked and was going over to a restaurant to eat with friend when I realized I had drop my wallet at the theater . We tried calling but of course no one over answered the phone we drove back and asked to speak to manager Maria to ask her if I could enter theater to retrieve my wallet . She said no that the film had already started . I pleaded with her to go in and quickly check my seat . She refused and assured me that she would check after the showing. I gave her my information and asked her call me one way or the other and she said she would. That she would call me about 9:55 pm . Of course she never did . I donāt live in town and I needed my j fo to fly back home .so it was rather urgent that she keep her word. I was disappointed that she didnāt . I called again today at 11am and again go outgoing message that they were helping other and that could email etc.i will never return to that theater again.. integrity is important. They either hire people that are incompetent or donāt train or they care that they treat their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMidnight showing and Fan Event: everything went smoothly. Would recommend for Fan Events.
After a miserable experience at the amc in Saratoga, this fan event was handled as it should be: when you show your ticket for a fan event, the staff ask if you want the freebie that's included for the event, which they keep behind the counter. Not just leaving everything out in the open for anyone to take like at Saratoga AMC.
The Dolby sound system in Auditorium 9 was amazing! The seats would shake and added to jumpscares. The auditorium itself was massive, screen is curved and I noticed that the handicap seats aren't pushed up against the walkway wall so they have their own proper aisle. Every aisle also had a low wall in front so you're not bothered by the row in front of you. The seats are pretty large compared to the lounge chairs at (Oakridge) Cinemark but I noticed the controls have become desensitized so I couldn't easily adjust my recline.
Unfortunately, J row which is has seats right in front of the entry halls has the bottom corner of their view obstructed by the walkway wall so avoid J24 and J1 if possible. It's not the worse but just one seat over is better.
Parking lot felt safe when we left very late at night. Overall, I'm looking forward to watching...
