For many years we stayed at La Quinta Inns in the South and Southwest whenever they were available. And highly recommended to friends and family. Accordingly, when planning a multi-night stay in St. Louis and knowing that a newly renovated LQ Inn had opened in the Kirkwood area, we decided to give it a try. A decision we came to regret due to a continuing series of aggravations throughout our stay.
At check-in, we asked for 2 room keys and were told we could only get 1 because they were running short.
Once in our room, tried the TV to be sure it worked and noticed there were no channel numbers displayed on the screen. Called down to front desk to get a channel listing and was told they couldn’t make a copy because short of copy paper. Asked which channel was for CNN and was told to try channel 10, which turned out to be CBS.
We also noticed that the bedding utilized heavy Duvet coverlets that we find too heavy to sleep under. The room closet already contained a separate blanket, so went down to front desk to request an additional blanket for the 2nd bed. Desk clerk said she would get one when not busy. Called front desk from room about an hour later to followup and clerk said would get it. About an hour later, just before 9:00pm, went down to front desk, which had no customers at that time, and clerk looked at me with a blank stare, reminded her about the blanket, and finally got one.
Next day asked for a channel listing again. Desk said they had a hand written listing. Went down to retrieve it and was provided a hand written list with NO NUMBERS. So, now had TV with no channel numbers being displayed and no numbers on the listing.
On 2nd day returned to find that housekeeping had not made up the room. Went down to front desk to let them know and was advised that individual room housekeeping was not being performed due to Covid restrictions. Told to bring dirty towels. Went back to room brought back towels and received clan ones then went back to my room
The morning before our scheduled checkout, we were read the riot act by the kitchen matron for being “disrespectful” by bringing the empty cardboard TP roll to the front desk to request more TP. This dressing down was played out loudly in front of a large breakfast audience.
The reservation was for a multi-night stay, yet no mention of the limited services and no notices were posted informing guests what procedures to follow for towel & TP replenishment and trash removal. A complete lack of communication by Management & Staff. Day by day we “learned” we had to attend to all these services ourselves.
This was a drip drip drip situation of aggravating events. If we would have known the whole story the 1st night, we would have immediately repacked and left for different accommodations. During our trip, we stayed at other national branded Hotels in MO, GA, and KS and encountered responsive staff and no problems at all
To add more insult to the situation, several days after check-out, noticed that they had charged my CC account for $50.00 the day after we left. Called the location and was told that we were charged for a missing soap tray and hair dryer. Told the clerk that was ridiculous and asked for refund immediately or would protest the charge with CC company. Was told only management could authorize the refund. Immediately called CC issuer to lodge protest against the charge. The following day, a credit was issued...
Read moreThis was the worst LaQuinta experience I've ever had, when I usually enjoy it. I paid for 2 rooms and requested ajoining rooms. The attendant said there were no such rooms there, but of course I was in one. I had 7 kids with me for my daughter's birthday weekend, so I really needed ajoining rooms or a room nearby. The rooms I was given were 211 & 219, many doors down the hall, which became a huge inconvenience. As soon as I entered the rooms, I inspected the bathrooms and beds as I always do no matter what hotel I'm in. The beds were clean with fresh sheets. However, the bathrooms were both dirty, lacking towels and toiletries. One of the bathrooms didn't look as if we're cleaned at all. There was a towel on the toilet and no fresh towels stocked. There's was hair and dirt inside the roll in shower and hair stuck to the toilet. I also noticed shortly after I arrived that the TV stand in both rooms, had ants crawling around on it. There were chip and trash underneath the beds in the room with the roll in shower so I can only assume that that room wasn't cleaned properly. I called downstairs and made the complaints but was told there were no more available rooms, so since the beds were clean and I literally had no other choice, I asked for the issue with the ants to be rectified and for more towels. I was told that there were no towels and that there was no one to do anything about the ants until the next day, although it was on shortly after 5pm. I called back to the front desk at 7:30pm and was told that there would be towels when the night staff arrived at 9pm. I called back at 9pm and was told the towels were in the laundry and would be ready in a couple hours. I called again at 1am because I figured they should definitely be done with the towels by then and I desperately wanted to shower! I was rudely told that it was 1am and there were still no towels. What does the time have to do with the fact that you are a hotel and you've run out of towels? I have stayed in several hotels since the pandemic began and not one has run out of towels, NOT ONE! And they all had properly clean rooms. I had to go to Walmart and buy cleaning supplies and towels for a HOTEL! so that my and I can feel safe and comfortable using the bathroom that's supposed to be safe and comfortable. I will never stay at this LaQuinta again. I almost want to blame the LaQuinta brand as a whole because there's really no excuse. I just know I won't be going back there. Instead, I'll go to the Beat Western...
Read moreThey just charged over $6000 that I do not owe to my debit card. Then they claimed it didn't happen. Now I have to file a police report and fight with the bank. My account is totally overdrawn.
I am disabled and have had to fight for disabled parking--with able employees who feel entitled to park there AND make a big display of it. They also initially agreed to my accommodations request (just a room near the entrance with air conditioning!) and then gave me a room that not only didn't fit the request but would have made things impossible (far from main entrance, near a door that was not automatic, no disabled parking, and as far away from the front desk and breakfast as possible on the first floor--this is obviously a problem, but even more so, since you have to get your own towels and toilet tissue at the front desk). Huge ADA violation. Finally got housekeeping today after THREE WEEKS and now I have to leave soon because the place is obviously unsafe. I don't have anywhere else to go and my bank account is now overdrawn, thanks to their fraud. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE. Employees won't provide name or contact info for manager. Front desk employees lie at the drop of a hat and will even lie to you about you. They flatly deny that a thing happened, regardless of any actual proof to the contrary. The disability accommodations denial and harassment was bad enough, but bank fraud for over $6000 and no manager to discuss it with.
And they creep in and out of your room when you aren't there. Someone ser the alarm clock for 6:00 a.m. for this morning. Just one example.
I was staying here because I have been temporarily displaced from my home due to toxins. I am disabled and already having a rough go of things. A couple of these employees have serious issues and should not be trusted working in hospitality (or anywhere where they can harm people).
This could be a nice place. The breakfast is good and rooms comfortable. But the employees can't be trusted, and if you have disabilities, I would avoid it altogether (I haven't asked for anything except a room in a particular location, air conditioning, and for employees and other able people to not park in disabled parking because I need a space there. Asking this place to follow laws is too much. Avoid it.)
Looks like a great place to work if you love to smoke (lots of smoke breaks for employees) or if you love to gaslight people with...
