First, the server was actually quite good, pleasant and tried to be helpful. The issue arose with the drink/food, I felt ill almost immediately. We were a party of three. I ordered a drink that had vodka and lemonade... I believe the lemonade had soured because after a few swallows, I just wasn't feeling well. Then bread was brought along with the salad I was sharing with my friend. I ate a roll and a little salad and spent most the rest of the time in and out of the restroom. My order, a chicken sandwich, was brought out while I was away and my adult daughter and my friend were nibbling at their food when I returned and let me know the chicken looked very dry. My friend then showed me her steak and said.. I asked for well done but.. it looked like charcoal. I said that looks horrible, have you said anything? I wasn't feeling well enough at this point to try my sandwich.. but when the server saw her meat, he agreed that it didn't look good and took it away for a redo. My daughter said her tacos were okish, but pretty bland. (She's in the army and eats pretty much anything). I pulled a small sample of chicken from the edge of my sandwich and it reminded me of what it tastes like when I precook something, freeze and reheat - still smells awesome but dry and flavorless. But knowing I wasn't feeling as well as I was before coming in, I asked my daughter and friend to try a taste and each was given a sliver of the chicken pulled from the edge of the sandwich and they each confirmed they thought it was dry and didn't bother with eating their slivers, placing them on their plates. In the midst of this we had asked for a box for my meal as I just couldn't eat... I had tried one of the sweet potato fries and it wasn't fully cooked, somewhat starchy, and stuck in my throat so I returned to the restroom to try to dislodge it...by this time my friend's recooked steak arrived, looking much better than the first and I was informed that she let the server know if the issues with my plate while I was away. He came by to let us know the manager said my chicken couldn't be dry since they marinated it. I thought that sounded like a pretty odd reply .. it stayed in the box and the server told us they took her meal off the ticket as well as mine and I was welcome to take mine home or not. I opted not since something seemed way wrong and couldn't see how reheating it would make it any better. So while they took these items from the bill, it didn't make things better but I'm sure the manager is happy we won't be back. His attitude to this was demonstrated in the parking lot when we were trying to leave. When we exited, we noticed that another customer had parked on the diagonal lines marking ramp access making it so narrow, while I could open the ramp, there was no room to get my chair on it (about a 4 in gap). My friend went in to see if they could assist in finding the customer and having the car moved off the ramp access. The manager came out, did not speak to me, but suggested that one of my passengers pull my prescribed van out of the space to open the ramp in the middle of the lot for me to get in. Neither of them have ever driven my van, it would require them learning the unique controls, removing the metal plate over the pedals, the knob on the steering wheel, and some other things that I would have to show them from the side then replacing these items after rolling around in the parking lot.. maneuvering around for a half hour or so in the lot as opposed to just locating the person who illegally parked, causing the issue in the first place. So his suggestion was ludicrous. So I inevitably opted to roll close enough to my ramp to drop my bottom onto the ramp, pull myself up toward the van and try to pull the chair over the edge of the ramp. (My friend couldn't help lift since she had hip replacement surgery and my daughter had walked to the restroom or something since we were in the parking lot for some time at this point. Luckily, a kind couple saw the challenge and came over to help lift the chair into the van. We...
Read moreI've come to eat here at least five times now. I wanted to make sure to give the place a fair chance before writing a review since it is new.
There are things to love and not love about this place. The presentation is nice, but dining can feel a little cramped at times. I think they made a bad choice on their table/furnishing selections, because half the dishes are really too large to fit on the table. The menus sometimes don't even fit. That can lead to a somewhat awkward dining experience.
The food is a little hit and miss too. The buffalo chicken wrap was excellent. So were the wings and most the meat dishes I've tried. But the Farfalle Chicken Pasta was very bland and the potatoes in my Huevos Rancheros Bowl at breakfast were not good at all. I even suspected they might be frozen pre-packaged. They also carry a poor and generic brand of hot tea so skip ordering that if you don't like coffee (and the tea/coffee mugs are teeny-tiny). The price of food here is pretty high for that kind of inconsistency. I also wish the bowls they use for dipping sauce weren't so narrow. I think they were going for modern, but they are just impractical. That feels like a good description for this place on the whole.
I do think this is a nice bar to come get a drink. The specials are pretty good value and they have things that a picky person like me would actually want to order. The strawberry special martini is delicious. Pricey though. Service on getting those drinks can be a little spotty. The staff seems to be having trouble getting their ducks in a row, but they have always been polite and accommodating with our concerns.
I really hope most of the kinks will work themselves out eventually. Getting a staff up and running in a restaurant is hard, I'm sure. I'm still planning to come back and give it a few more tries. But some who are more cautious about spending a lot of money on a meal might want to head somewhere else until this place proves itself to be more reliable. Right now it still feels like...
Read moreTerrible experience. The wife and I went late Saturday morning back in December for brunch. We were excited to try the place as we live close by. Waitress took a while to show up and take our drink orders and even longer to actually take the food order. I ordered the chicken fried chicken breakfast entree and asked for no gravy. My wife is a vegetarian so she asked the waitress if the breakfast burrito could be served without bacon, waitress said no problem. Entrees come out by a different server and everything on my plate is covered in gravy, my wife cut into her burrito and it has bacon in it. Waited until our waitress came back and told her the issues. New entrees come out and mine is fine, but my wife cut into her burrito again and it still has bacon in it. We say something again and the waitress apologizes and says some excuse about grabbing the wrong plate. Since my food was correct and had scrambled eggs I didn't want to wait and have it get cold so I awkwardly ate while my wife had no food. A third burrito finally comes out and this time they got it right after we had been there for almost an hour and a half.
When we're finally done eating the waitress brings a dessert menu and says it's on the house because of the issues. We decline because a) we do not want dessert with our breakfast food and b) we've already been at the restaurant almost 2 hours because they kept messing up the entrees. We're just ready to leave. Waitress says OK and brings the check, which is for full price. I was a little surprised they didn't even take the burrito off which took them three tries to get right. We don't complain though, just paid and left. Will not be coming back for a long time, if ever.
Oh also I ordered the 'bottomless' mimosa which came in a normal smaller champagne glass. The whole time we were there it was only refilled once because it took forever to show up at first and the waitress never asked if I wanted a...
