I purchased 23 dollars for a Chinese dinner takeout most everything was mediocre except the beef rib appetizer it was all bones and fat!!!!!!! If I would have called about it they would have not understood what I was saying so I was not able to bring the box of bones and fat back until the next week so she said I should have brought it back sooner which would have been an inconvenience for me since I don’t live close by. People rave about this place but THEY OBVIOUSLY HAVE NOT BEEN TO CHINA 1st in Ballwin (NOT China ONE). It’s a very small place but everything is Exceptional!!! With no concept of what good Customer Service and a look of disgust she handed it back to me and I simply said why do I want it?! and left it on the counter. I’m happy to say I would never go back or recommend Sesame Chinese to anyone. There are many good Chinese Restaurants in St. Louis that have friendly owners and that are willing to make right was is not. Sesame knows what their meat looks like before they prepare it. You can clearly see fat, clearly see bones and meat so they knew what they were giving me before it was even prepared! I am glad that I know now how they can treat some of their customers. Actually there is very little customer service anymore or many business owners just don’t really seem to care. When I walked in I was right behind the owner he almost slammed both doors in my face instead of holding the door open for me I was right at his heels!!! Just another example of their...
Read moreI'd like to start with the fact that I don't even know if I've ever even left a review for a restaurant prior to this, with no more than 5 reviews for public display in my life.
1: Crab Rangoon was so overcooked that it would barely even break apart, and when it did, you had pieces fly everywhere, and all I saw and tasted was the outer shell. 2: The wontons were overcooked as well and edible at best (still the worst I have had anywhere in the country). 3: The steak was almost decent, but on the lower end of decent. Super thin and very chewy. Was painfully obvious it was cheap and poorly prepared. 4: The shrimp fried rice had a poor taste to it and cold as well. It was almost crunchy, if that gives you any idea. 5: On top of all of that, I was given no eating utensils or napkins with my food. In conclusion: This was the worst gimmick of Chinese food I have ever purchased and/or consumed. I'd even go as far as to say that it is potentially the worst food I have gotten from a restaurant period. I drove about 15 minutes or so to pick it up, whereas had I known this would be the quality of the food, I wouldn't have walked across the street to get it if it was freely...
Read moreIt will be a sad day in St. Louis if this place ever closes down (please, don't retire!!). The best Chinese food ever . . . any where . . . all served by friendly helpful staff.
The Sesame Beef Ribs are my first and always choice and when I stray from this favorite, never am I disappointed . . . it's all so-ooooo good. The only way it could be better is if their dessert menu included the incredibly and sinfully delicious home-made Coconut Cream Pie that is served only at The Hawthorne Inn Restaurant in Labadie, Missouri . . .
So, what the heck . . . on a beautiful spring (or summer or fall or even winter) afternoon or evening after a delightful Chinese meal at Sesame . . .just head west on Watson, pick up Hwy. 44 and head west to Hwy. 100 and on to Labadie driving through some of the most beautiful scenery in the U.S. for dessert at Hawthorne Inn Restaurant (they're also a five-star with excellent food and service . . . but, heck this review is about SESAME!).
So many excellent restaurants in the St. Louis area . . . and so little...
