My husband and I reserved a hotel room for Valentine’s Day. We were excited to have some time to ourselves. There was an option on the website that included breakfast and parking in addition to the room. It cost more money but we wanted to make it easy so we paid the additional fee. The price came to 282.38 with tax. The hotel lobby was nice and we did eat in the restaurant downstairs which was excellent. It was refreshing to see a hotel use local businesses to serve food and coffee. Our room however was messy and there was a huge crack with a hole in the ceiling above our shower. The bed was comfortable and my husband and I both slept well. The next morning my husband went downstairs to get our breakfast and was told that we did not pay for breakfast and there was no such deal they provided. He came back to the room frustrated so I called and spoke with a manager who said no we did not pay for breakfast or parking. I told her I had the email proving we did pay for the additional services. After clacking away at her keys she then stated that yes we had paid for breakfast and parking. My husband went back downstairs and ordered our breakfast which was even better than our dinner the night before. The food at least was delicious. When we went to check out I asked the hotel clerk specifically if my card had been charged anything additional. He assured me it had not, checked us out and emailed a copy of my receipt. Imagine my surprise when I looked at the receipt and the total was 330.38 ( they had charged us again for breakfast and parking) even after they said no additional charges. I went back inside and showed them my email that proved parking and breakfast were included and had been paid for. They refunded the 48.00 and sent me a new receipt that totaled 282.38. Tonight I was checking my credit card statement and guess what, I had 2 charges from hotel indigo. One for 48.00 and one for 330.38. They did refund the 48.00 charge but the room charge was still 330.38 and should have been 282.38. Basically they charged us for breakfast and parking 3 times. I have disputed this charge with my credit card company and wanted to write a review that we would never be staying at this hotel again. They were dishonest from the start, I say this because when we checked in I told the clerk that we had a package deal including parking and breakfast, he just kind of nodded but never gave us the vouchers to get the additional services. If we had not checked our bill and credit card statement we would have been charged multiple times for something we already paid for. I feel like this is a scam, charge your guest and if you get caught say sorry but if you don’t get caught then you’ve made extra money . If you stay at this hotel eye your bill closely for additional charges including your statement several days later. I bet they are making a killing by double and triple charging...
Read moreHotel Indigo in Tallahassee was probably the worst hotel experience my husband and I have ever had and we stay in hotels about 2-3 months a year.
We had high hopes from the reviews, but were met with truly unsanitary conditions. We have dogs that we travel with, but nothing bothers us more than irresponsible dog owners. This hotel had nowhere to potty the dogs and as a result fecal matter was throughout all the landscaping. You enter the hotel and there are dog treats and water at dog level: Parvo anyone?
The folks at the desk were nice and positive, but to tell you the truth, I felt sorry for them.
Building over all was flimsy and you could easily hear folks in the hall, outside, etc which made for poor sleeping. Rooms were dusty and dirty. Mattress was comfortable, but I felt like I was staying in a 1990s hostel in Amsterdam where things were just barely staying together. It felt very frat house but with a costly price tag.
I’m a Diamond Elite member, but the front desk were going to charge me extra to park in the literal puke-ridden, dingy parking lot that offered zero security for the expensive belongings I had with me (including our rare car). My husband and I tried the restaurant RandR. It had to be the worst burger and chicken sandwich we had ever had. Chicken was ashen and tasted like stinky raw chicken and the burger was still frozen in the middle on mine. Really unbelievable and disgusting. After walking around the block amongst college bars and nail salons, we had seen enough.
My husband and I said to ourselves, let’s just sleep and get out of here early. So, we did that somewhat. My husband gets the luggage cart first thing in the morning, we pack it, and just as we are about to take our first load down (had to take a bunch of valuable antiques with us to the room), the elevators (both) are not working. Needless to say, we had to take 4 trips up and down 6 floors hauling antiques, general belongings and then dogs down to the car. Cockroaches in the stairway to add to the overall experience. Generator placed right at the entry so when my husband and I are trying to pack and communicate about the dogs, we couldn’t hear each other 3 feet from one another. Most of my IHG experiences are fantastic or satisfactory in general, but this hotel, the hotel restaurant and everything about this stay was awful. Perhaps it’s a reflection of the FSU vibe there, but I will never go back to Tallahassee based on our...
Read moreThe room itself was alright. Nice decor, good amount of storage, a mini fridge.. but the floor was not clean. Our feet were dirty not long after a shower. Comfortable bed and pillows BUT I found a few stray hairs (yes hair gets caught in fabric in the wash I know but still) and stains on the sheets.. I'm sure the sheets were washed, but they certainly aren't inspected. My biggest issue was that you can't use the lamps fixtures on either side of the bed. They were wired with the high-hat that was DIRECTLY ABOVE the bed. They should be independently wired so the bedside lights can be used without high hats above the bed. The room was BRIGHT, no ambient lighting, the one standing lamp in the corner was so luminous we wrapped it with the blackout curtain. The coffee cups and machine in the room were not clean. Housekeeping could do a much better job. The wallpaper was peeling in the bathroom which is caused by the bathroom having no fan and gets extra steamy. I'm not sure if the bathroom ceiling had spots a leak from the floor above, or from the lack of ventilation in the bathroom, but it was unsightly. Lots of oversights in the renovations.. it looked nice and is definitely NEW but it feels like construction may have been rushed.. and housekeeping needs training and inspection.
The lobby is beautiful and the framed art throughout the hotel is nice. Definitely a relaxed artistic rustic vibe. The seating areas were lovely with beautiful furniture. Guest services were kind and accommodating. They have a 24 hour mini snack bar in the lobby with good options. The bar and restaurant are easily visible with an open floor plan and plenty of outdoor sitting. There are also electric scooters available right outside the hotel! I recommend staying here in lue of the few issues I took with the room. Hopefully with feedback from guests they...
