3 bagels and a "medium" plain cream cheese, a bacon, egg and cheese with a regular hot coffee, all-in, $30 š³. Plus to scramble the eggs in my sandwich (instead of just broken yolks) they charged me a $1.50 EXTRA, I am sorry that's a rip off. I should have been told that when I placed my order, I never thought in my right mind I would be charged $1.50 to scramble some eggs.
Also, I am aware I have a completely different bagel standard than North Florida being born and raised in NYC, but these are more like bagel shaped bread than an actual bagel. Seriously. Publix makes a better bagel, a Frozen Lenders Bagel would be better and cheaper. If you are going to overpay for a bagel you are better off at Brueggers or even Starbucks.
The cream cheese was fine, even though I expected to be overcharged for to-go cream cheese, $5.50 +tax for about 4oz of cream cheese seems like a lot, especially getting gouged for $1.50 to scramble eggs.
The sandwich itself was fine, I guess, the eggs seemed fresh and the bacon was cooked well. But I did ask for a toasted bagel on my egg sandwich, what I got was a completely WHITE bagel (no brown spots anywhere) that was slightly warmed, but I could not tell where the warmth came from because it spent 5 seconds in the "toaster" or because the hot eggs and cheese made the bagel warm. TOASTED means that at least a MILD maillard reaction takes place with some golden brown spots, preferably over a majority of the surface of the bagel. Honestly, if I had to pay an extra $1.50 for you to cover your electric bill to actually toast my bagel I would have gladly paid for that.
The coffee also was MEH, it tasted burnt and slightly bitter, though it was priced somewhat appropriately. Honestly, I had better cup of coffee for $1 cheaper at the GATE convenience store on Magnolia.
The place is CLEAN and well lit. And the service was reasonably prompt and the staff were super friendly. Honestly, that's the only reason I didn't make a stink with the cashier/order taker was that she was super pleasant, even though I think she should have warned me of the $1.50 charges to scramble and egg on a flat top instead of a popped yolk egg.
Also, any restaurant that chooses those awfully narrow and uncomfortable industrial style chairs doesn't have their customer's mild comfort in mind or doesn't want you to stay long.
If this place was in SE Florida, the owners would be in jail for accusations of their airy, unsatisfying excuse of bread impersonating a bagel. I expect a terrible bagel from Publix, Starbucks and Dunkin, a place called "Bagels and Co." should at least be mildly better than those "non-bagel centric" purveyors.
Not sure why everything was so expensive. Is rent too high in that newish building? Is it a transient student and government population that don't stay long? Was it the 6-7 people you are paying to work there where at least 3 of them were just standing around, the cook and the dishwasher seemed to be the only ones busy. I don't know your overhead, but I would guess you would be more busy if your menu was at least 10% cheaper and better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came during a busy time as I had these bagels at work and they were good, but I regret going myself. I witnessed a person drop a bagel, pick it up from a cruddy floor, throwing it in the trash, and immediately grabbing a group of bagels for warming. The chef put the contents of a bagel (and the bagel itself) on an egg carton. The ones you get in bulk from a Publix or Walmart - he prepared many peopleās bagels on top of that carton, which has been through a shipping process, on a semi-truck.
Not to mention, the atrocious online preparers. Stereotypically, of the average FSU male student/worker demographic (frat bros), not only did not call out orders - they lazily just asked the women managing the front to call out every time and keep track of everything - during peak hours. I mean these dudes were TRASHY! These same males also scrapped the dirty counters with their knives and then proceeded to cut up every bagels from the online order, during the hour I waited. I mean at least the dude grabbing the food off the ground changed his glove eventually. I mean they were just dead weight, the back of the house was working and the front of the house (women) were working at least. These guys were standing around cracking jokes and flirting with women - literally STANDING AROUND⦠getting paid for what? They also have every customer that approached attitude, which (of course) the customer facing employees (women) had to clean-up these interactions and calm down the many displeased customers. These guys were single-handily slowing down the entire restaurant and taking up space for what?
The bagels are good but it doesnāt excuse the VERY unsanitary preparation, lack of order, a group of employees literally standing around that were not reprimanded or did their job, and consistent disrespect of the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went with my boyfriend and friends to this location and we had such a negative experience. We had waited over 1.5 hours for just 2 blueberry bagels. I understand that you are busy and a new store, but it was very clear that it was poorly run and there was no kind of management present. As somebody that has worked fast food (Panera) for over 3 years, Iāve worked rushes before and Iāve never had customers wait more than 30 minutes. People around us had been waiting for upwards of 2 hours. Nobody offered any kind of resolution to the problem. You should not be waiting over 20 minutes for a bagel regardless of how busy it is, thatās just insane. The music was blasting super loud and people couldnāt hear their name being called, people had food ready that didnāt even know it was ready because their name wasnāt called. I had asked an employee about the status of my order (after waiting for an hour) and she told me āI wasnāt special, everybody has been waiting for an hour.ā What kind of customer service is that? I understand that most people were waiting for a long time, but that shouldnāt even be the case in the first place. If youāre that backed up, you need to stop taking orders and prioritize the people that were there before. If my boyfriend hadnāt complained we would have most likely waited an additional 45 minutes for our order. My friends that we went with didnāt get their food until the 2 hour mark. I rarely ever leave negative reviews but my experience here today was just terrible. I would not recommend coming here for food that you could get somewhere else without having to...
