Lolis Tacos - Westshore — Restaurant in Tampa

(Edited in response to owner: This was the second* time that I have found meat in the refried beans, and dealing with food, allergies and other dietary considerations… to have this happening is completely unacceptable when providing food for public. Once meat falls into the beans it’s no longer vegetarian and needs to be thrown away or not advertised as vegetarian. If meat is being thrown around so carelessly that the cook staff doesn’t know that it is in the beans, then this is not a restaurant I want to eat at.)

I have to give 2 stars… I have enjoyed the food here and love the sauces they provide (Arbol is my fav).

There are some issues at times with ordering… the language barrier causes some misunderstanding… I was brought black beans instead of refined beans 3 or 4 times … not a big deal they just switch them out, but sometimes I am charged incorrect.

I want to give Lolis 5 stars but my issue: I am vegetarian and not once but twice have I found big pieces of meat in the refined beans. The first time it was beef, last time was pork, and fbesides being vegetarian, my health and religious beliefs make this absolutely unacceptable. The manager was helpful and was the same one that I talked to last time this happened. He said that the meat and the beans are close together on counter and meat falls in.

He said he told his boss that they should change the location of items, but I am not confident that there will be a real solution. They are helpful and understanding and I can go in and order and remind them and watch them prepare the food or something and make sure they are careful but I feel like I shouldn’t have to do that. I am spending money here to be able to have food prepared and sit down and relax, not police them to make sure there’s no pork in ym food.

So as of now I would say to vegetarians that Lolis is not vegetarian friendly and anyone with an aversion to pork to stay away from Lolis. (Most all of their veggie dishes have refined beans that are cross contaminated)

I am disappointed because I love the flavors but I don’t think that I will be returning to Lolis...

I am sad to see what has happened to Loli's. This used to be a delicious hole in the wall taco joint off Waters, a Tample staple if you were a local. Now it's commercialized and no longer enjoyable. I visited on July 23, 2023. The food at the Westshore location was subpar. The prices are outrageous. The worst part is the tipping policy. This is a walk-up counter where the customers pour their own drinks and clean up their trays when finished. There is no "service" at all apart from an unfriendly person walking the food to your table. On my receipt, it said there were 4 persons ordering, yet I was charged an auto-gratuity of 20% for parties of 6 or more. Then the cashier turned the computer around and asked me if I wanted to tip more! I was baffled. The worst part is that I was not told about this "auto-gratuity" until after I submitted my payment. The only notice is on the receipt after you pay. It is not posted anywhere on the menu. If you want good tacos, support Tacos Las Californias on Memorial instead. I've been to TLC with at least 10 people on several occassions and each time was able to decide what I believed to be a fair amount of gratuity for...

The food is alway great! My family and I drive from Land o lakes to this location because the service and food have always been great. But today the service from Izashy was not good. I came in to place a togo order as I was ordering it seemed as if she was bothered as if I was asking for too much. All I asked for was no onions and to add sour cream and queso fresco. Then a family came in to order as I waited and she had the same attitude towards them. It seemed as if she was not happy speaking to any customers but then when she would go to kitchen and speak to her co workers she would smile and laugh. My order was incorrect when given to me I had to speak to another employee (Natalie) to get it fixed. And she was very sweet and apologetic when I explained to her the situation.
