I usually don’t write reviews and I’m disappointed to have to do this, but I thought about it a lot and I decided to share my experience. A couple weeks ago, I went to this establishment as I have for many years to grab a light bite to eat. When I get to the door the bouncer looks at my I.D., no problem for far. The problem comes in when he takes his flash light and starts moving things around with said flashlight . I was immediately appalled, I had NEVER had a bouncer go through my purse in such a way and I expressed my displeasure at this. He told me that I was not allowed in because of my attitude and that he had been a bouncer for years and this was okay. I told him that this has never happened to me before, he said “Welcome to Tampa” in a condescending way. I’ve lived in Tampa for years and I had been going to copper shaker for longer than he had been employed there. I told him to get his manager, he refuse. I told him that I would stand there until he did and he told me he’d call the police on me. When he finally got the manager, I was so mad that I couldn’t speak. I told the manager I needed a second because I was upset and the bouncer mocked me to try to discredit my experience. After the manager left, I asked the bouncer his name because I wanted to write this review but he refused to disclose that information so I can only give a description. He was a tan skinned middle aged man wearing a black cap and he has a salt and pepper beard, I’m unsure if he was Hispanic, but I’m assuming he was. All in all, I will no longer be going to copper shaker because of this dehumanizing treatment and I will makes sure that none of my loved...
Read moreCool ambiance and great cocktails. Sole, but major complaint is the auto 20% gratuity they put on your tab without informing you then provide you with a receipt requesting a tip. Otherwise it would be a 4-5 star, highly recommended spot. Shady tactics are always a huge negative. As an exceptional tipper it made me feel insulted. Also, it opens up the door to encouraging lack luster, poor service as well as customer disputes.
Update: the prompt response from the "owner" is appreciated to say the least however disenginuous. Putting the itemized receipt under the merchant receipt that requests a tip atop the customer's copy (which is placed under the merchant's receipt)...still equates "shady" deceptive. Most people likely don't realize it. Mind you good folks...I tipped $20 for merely 2 drinks $12 a pop. No way a mandatory 20% tip should be readily enforced on any and everyone...while hiding mandatory/auto calculated gratuity. I'm not interested in a refund/reimbursement to be clear. I'm interested in integrity and protecting those in my community who deserve a good time though their income maybe challenged in these volatile market, overall treacherous times. Choice matters. This is still America. I ignored the first time, afforded change the second time. This third time feedback is to encourage transparency and due change; to ensure people aren't being blindly exploited. The second occurrence I tipped the bar tender $40 on merely 3 beers and a water for myself and 3 friends to ensure he knew the call out wasn't about him. Again, my feedback isn't for attention to be reimbursed. It's a warning to new comers and call for change....
Read moreMe and my cousin decided to check out the copper shaker last night after going to two other establishments it was the first time we’ve been there the atmosphere and decor was great. The vibes were good but upon getting there around 9 o’clock, but as soon as we got carded and we stepped into the establishment, there was no hostess to see us so we decided to see ourselves after 10 minutes of waiting. We finally asked one of the bus boys if there are servers or do we have to go to the bar at that point he said I will send the server over after an additional 10 minutes we noticed that two other groups that included parties of four each got up and left at that point I noticed the doorman left. It was gone for about 10 minutes. Left the door unsupervised to go back and get a bite to eat, and I noticed he was eating cause he came back. He had food in his mouth and he decided to sit a large group of people and ignore the other people that were sitting there, including Us so not only that two parties of four leave but after we sat there for over 15-20 minutes without anybody serving us we got up and left so including the two parties of four each and me and my cousin that left that was a total of 10 people that left that was about 400-600 dollars not including tips that just walked out the door and if I was the owner I will be highly upset. It’s such a nice establishment but to see it’s such disorganized is really sad. I hope things improve because it is a nice...
