I stayed here about a month ago with my dog. I had made a last minute decision to stay in the area an extra night and needed a pet friendly hotel for the night. I left my room that night around 11:30pm and was about 10 minutes up the road with friends. About an hour later I checked my phone and had received two missed calls from the hotel and one voicemail. The voicemail was as transcribed “Hi I'm calling from the Hampton home two suites um you have a dog in your room that is um barking nonstop and had a lot of guest complaints um need to give a call back to us ASAP um or if we're gonna have to take this to further action to get the dog out here OK thank you bye-bye…” after receiving this I made my way back to the hotel very worried that my dog may have been taken from my room. Once on my floor I did not hear my dog barking at all I open the door and find him playing with a bone I left him with. I proceed to call the number the hotel left me to apologize and let them know I was back in my room. The woman who I spoke with had no idea what I was talking about and told me she would put me on hold to find someone, I stayed on hold for about 25 minutes before my husband went downstairs to speak with someone and ask why I’ve been on hold for so long. The night auditor (Josephine) at the front desk began to argue with him and she then called the room where I was. When I got on the phone she told me that I not on hold with anyone from the hotel because she’s the only one there. I then went downstairs to sort out the confusion and was very upset that I had been put on hold for over 30 minutes with what I learned was Hilton corporate line. Josephine immediately rude with me when asking about the message she left saying they would have my dog removed from their “pet friendly” hotel. As the situation escalated Josephine then says “you can leave and stay somewhere else we will refund your night” it is now past 1am and I am being told that I should leave my hotel because of my dog barking. I got extremely upset by this as I have been a Hilton honor member for years and normally only stay at their hotels. The argument went further and I asked to speak to a manager which she refused and then got on the phone with someone who told her to call the police. I asked again to speak with a manger and she gave me a card with the assistant gms information and told me I can’t speak with anyone until the morning. Very upset I demand to speak with someone as she just told me to leave the hotel so I won’t be here in the morning, she ignored me and called the police. I then asked my husband to pack up the room and I waited in the lobby for the police to arrive. I had a nice conversation with the police stating that I would’ve liked to stay but if she’ll refund the night I will leave without issue. That night I drove over 3 hours back home at 2am because of this.
In the morning I received an email stating I will not be refunded the night. I call Husani Parris-Hunte the assistant gm with the information from the card Josephine gave me and tried to explain to him the situation, he told me that in addition to have to pay the night I should also have to pay $700 in damages for the complaints. I told him I returned the hotel as soon as I received the call about me dog and apologized for the complaints but he’s a dog and your a pet friendly hotel barking must happen every now and then. He than said to me that I should have been watching my dog better. I told him that I was told by his night auditor that I would receive a refund and all he said was that she doesn’t have the authority to do that. So she just lied to me to get me to leave.
After my conversation with Husani I call the corporate number And explain what happened. I would hear back in about 7 to 10 days. It has now been over 20 days with no contact from this hotel. I was lied to, kicked out of my room, threatened to have my...
Read moreWe stayed in downtown Tampa for 2 days after a longer trip at Legoland. We really enjoyed our stay at the Hampton Inn Tampa Downtown Channel District. The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming. They held our bags for us until check-in time which gave us time to walk around, explore and enjoy the aquarium. The hotel is very well maintained and in excellent condition. The hotel is located near the #5 trolley stop which was very convenient and it ran every 15 minutes. ||There is a Starbucks attached to the hotel that is open from 5am to 5pm. There is a CVS right across the street and there is also a Publix nearby but we didn't have time to go check out the Publix. The CVS was very well stocked with beverages and snacks. ||Housekeeping was friendly and was great at cleaning the room and replenishing our towels. The room (both the bedroom area and bathroom) was very spacious, bright and clean. The shower was very large and was stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. We were very impressed and our kids enjoyed the accommodations. The room only had one sitting/work chair though and as parents, we felt the room could benefit from an additional chair so that kids don't fight over who gets to sit in it. The room had a microwave and a nice sized fridge. The elevators were always timely and we appreciated that you could only access the floors if you scanned/tapped your room key card in the elevator; this was a good security measure. ||The hotel has complimentary breakfast from 6am to 10am. They served oatmeal with various toppings you could add, cold cereals (frosted flakes, lucky charms, froot loops and raisin bran), coffee and tea, scrambled eggs, sausage, breakfast potatoes, blueberry and banana muffins, fresh fruit (apples, bananas, oranges), Chobani yogurt cups and they had prepared waffle batter (malted vanilla and blueberry) in cups so that you could make your own waffles in the provided waffle irons. They also had fountain juices available - apple, strawberry kiwi and orange - as well as water. The lobby also has a little market pantry so that you could buy drinks, snacks, ice cream or microwavable meals. ||We used uber to travel to/from the zoo and to the airport - the hotel is very conveniently located near both. ||We had a pleasant experience at this hotel and would definitely return and recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in downtown Tampa.||Meals/Other:|- We enjoyed some ice cream at the Hampton Chocolate Factory located in Sparkman Wharf (the staff was friendly and attentive. The ice cream was great; would definitely recommend).|- We ate dinner nearby at District Brewhouse - the food and portions were good and the server was friendly and accommodating. We got food from Burger King via Uber Eats our second night and ate in the hotel lobby...
Read moreTrip Purpose: My visit was for business from 11-13 November. Pro's: Location and Price- Great location downtown with access to many restaurants and bars.
Con's: Poor and unprofessional communication from the front desk. Housekeeping Steal Items!
This Hampton Inn hotel is lovely inside and out. Design, Decor, and Cleanliness are great. Breakfast included in the price was great and filled with healthy options. However, my experience with the staff is what gives my stay a 1 star. FIRST ISSUE: The front desk staff and housekeeping must have been understaffed during my stay. I went down to the front desk to ask for some plastic forks and the knife's so that I could eat takeout that I ordered.
The front desk said they were busy and would send someone from housekeeping to my room. After 30 mins still no one had been to my room, so I called again, another 20 minutes go by and I call again. Finally, after nearly 1 hour somebody finally comes. SECOND ISSUE: Once I checkout out and arrived home (same day) I realized that I had left 2 pairs of Jeans and T-shirt hanging in the wardrobe of the room. I called the hotel, I was on hold for 20 minutes for someone then tell me that the front desk staff is busy checking people in and to call back in 2 hours or so.
I call back and tried to explained that I had left some items in the room, the front desk staff proceeds to tell me that they spoke with me earlier and that I needed to be put on hold again. When I hadn't even had a chance to actually speak with anyone about the specifics ( so that was odd). Before I could tell her this, she puts me on hold for 15 minutes.
When she returns I explain the items that I had left and where I had left them, she proceeds to tell me that housekeeping will check and that I should call back 2-3 hours. I call back and again the front desk staff put me on hold for 15 minutes to then tell me that my items are not there.
I asked if anyone had stayed in the room since I left as this is now the day after, they said no. So only housekeeping had been in the room, which means they must have taken my clothing items.
The front desk was not able to advise on any next steps or where my items of clothing had gone. They tried to play it off like I didn't even leave anything in there. Very poor overall. I could understand if someone else had stayed in the room and maybe they had taken the clothing items but this is not the case.
**Just be mindful and double/triple-check the room before you leave/checkout...
