My wife and I have lived downtown for 19 years. We've watched the Water Street skyline develop from our living room, and frequented most of the new restaurants, believing we had a good understanding of this metro area. That changed last Sunday when, strolling down the brick-laden streets, we noticed Tostique, a boutique gourmet toast and juice bar. With no predisposed expectations, we decided to check it out.
Upon entering, I was immediately impressed. The place is chic yet exudes a family country rustic vibe. The music was well-balanced, hip, upbeat but subtle. We were greeted with a warm hello from a smiling Stephanie, and I knew Tostique was unique in this area. Terron and Kiki were equally vivacious and friendly.
My wife ordered the Avocado Smash: avocado with watermelon radish, marinated tomatoes, chili oil, microgreens on multigrain toast. We added smoked salmon and a poached egg. I, being a smoothie lover, tried the Green Machine—banana, pineapple, mango, spinach, kale, hemp seed, flaxseed, lime, and coconut water. It was awesome. The Avocado Smash with egg and salmon was very fresh and absolutely beautiful. Each layer of flavor was delicious and married well for an overall must-try experience.
The Green Machine was well macerated and didn’t taste like most green vegetable smoothies that rely heavily on sweet fruit to mask the vegetable taste. The blend was smooth and stayed in suspension, not separating even after 30 minutes.
I look forward to trying the bowls and making this boutique breakfast lunch bistro a main stay.
I don’t write many reviews, but Tostique is definitely...

I recently visited Toastique and left with very mixed feelings. While the staff was friendly and welcoming, the overall cleanliness of the restaurant was seriously lacking. Inside, the lobby area was absolutely filthy. Most of the tables were dirty, and even the cutlery provided with my food appeared to have been recently used—it was so off-putting that I had to return it and request plastic utensils instead.
The food itself was the redeeming factor. I ordered the Burrata Caprese, which was absolutely delicious, and a matcha latte that was perfectly made. Both were excellent, but unfortunately, the dining experience was overshadowed by the state of the restaurant.
I specifically went to try their Toast of the Month, which featured mushrooms, but they were out of the toppings. As a mushroom lover, I was very disappointed, especially since that was my main reason for visiting.
The overall environment made it uncomfortable to eat in. Many diners seemed to be clustered on one side of the restaurant, away from the messier self-cleanup areas. This was midday, and it wasn’t particularly busy, so there was no excuse for the lack of effort in maintaining the lobby. While several employees were behind the bar, no one seemed to be attending to the dining area.
Given that Toastique is located in Water Street, I expected a much higher level of sophistication and cleanliness. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to those expectations. While the food and drinks were excellent, the lack of cleanliness made the experience...
Read moreIt was our first time visiting and on Sunday yesterday we decided to goto Waterstreet because it was husband birthday. Feb 18th.
I am choosing to eat cleaner and have less sugar these days due to my age of 49. So we decided to try the food we had the spicy lump crab toast.
I had a Ginger berry Pitaya Mango, Strawberry, Lime Juice, Ginger, Agave Coconut Water smoothie. Husband had a small coffee.
It was delicious the decor was very nice with great views of the architect I always adored buildings as a well traveled adult.
I am a native to (FLAWDA) 😂 Florida. And to see how Tampa has and is continuing to change for the best is AMAZING!
I cannot wait to return because we often frequent that area a lot due to getting the best content outside and inside.
I give 5 star service because I am intentional when it comes details of a business and how much it may benefit the community and me as a visitor.
I do like self serving and instructions on how to discard after eating. I am getting in the habit of making sure I clean up after myself because I want life balance for us all in this economy.
Thank you for the kind hospitality and delicious food great atmosphere even on a cold rainy day which I do love at time due to Florida humidity during the summer rain is always welcome 😀
