This is an immaculate motel! All the following info is good info for any potential guest...Rooms are very clean but minimally decore...No water pressure and no shower head of any value...didnt look like a shower head at all....toiletries are 1 small bottle of shampoo/conditioner for 2 adults and hair dryer has no power...so bring your own toiletries and hair dryer.... magnificent view of Lake Oswego from any room...save your money on a balcony! Not necessary...rooms r a bit pricy but i guess they feel the view is worth it...Walk out your door and u can see the lake...huge lake...fabulous...that view makes this hotel....U can sit outside of your room as comfy canvas chairs r provided. The Glimmerglass boat has an hour boat ride which is in a small walking distance from your room.$16pp and the hotel gives u 1 comp ticket...its relaxing but it should be at least 2hrs... Alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks r available at a reasonable price...the boat it immaculate as well. The restaurant is lovely with 2 big picture windows with a view of the lake!! Beautiful...Nautical decor...Staff is lovely ..breakfast was very good...best hollandaise i ever had...and we're 20 mins outside of manhattan..best chefs and food in the country...coffee is excellent and abundant...breakfast is an excellent meal...pancakes r huge...best meal there...we had dinner there twice but was disappointed...small selection and a bit pricy...your paying for the view....fried calamari was mushy...scallops undercooked and they seem to have an issue with using the right size plates for the amount of food they put on them for every course and meal.....veggies were warm and raw...very little flavor in the broiled seafood entree...loaded baked pototoe was not loaded! Cocktail were very good and a fair price...nice wine selection....the next night we tried it again...ordered a broiled trout appetizer...it was raw ...ends were cooked but majority of the fish was raw...i had chicken wi gs with a salad...wings were overcooked and drowned in bbq sauce...not good at all..food was taken off the bill ... didnt have dinner there again....didnt do dessert. This is a basball town as it is a full block walking distance to Hall of fame and the town caters to "baseball food" sandwiches, hot dogs, pizza, bbq and ice cream...so this hotels food is a step up from that...not a full flight up but a step! If they step up the preparation and flavor of their entrees and focus on the proper cooking time this could be a good change from the usual in town meals. I'm sure there r other restaurants in town that r better but we eerent there long enough to check them out...do your homework if u enjoy good food...unfortunately this restaurant didnt have it. Btw...u get a $5 off comp for each persons in the room for the time u r there towards breakfast...that meal is well worth it! All and all a good experience just not in the dinner department...
Read moreScenic location and walking distance to the HOF. That was about the extent of the good parts of our experience.
The rest of the experience was pretty shoddy at best. The man who checked us in was very short with us. We had asked for extra towels on the reservation, but when we got into our room, we only had the minimum amount, which happens at other hotels too, so that wasn't too big of a deal. Additionally, on our first inspection, my wife and I also noted that we wanted extra pillows and a mini fridge. We called the front office and no one answered, so we left a voicemail, but it was pretty late and we didn't want to miss out on it since we weren't confident there was going to be anyone to provide service overnight. We walked to the front office and the same man that checked us in was there by himself (wonder how he missed the call) and so I asked for pillows and towels. He seemed visibly annoyed that I asked, but he went to go find some. A few minutes later he comes back with the towels and pillows and then I asked about the mini fridge. He seemed extra annoyed again, but said that he would bring one over in a few minutes.
After a fiasco of delivering the fridge (which included tripping over luggage and knocking our things off the stand), he left without a word but not before slamming the door shut in our face. After my wife literally chased him down (would not stop despite her yelling for him) to at least hand him a tip, he refused at first and then accepted without a thank you.
They don't provide irons, but rather have a community iron that you can use in their front office along with everyone else, so if you're going for a wedding, make sure to plan for that.
Something else I happened to notice was when I was outside, guests who had checked in and were entering their room for the first time found that the room was still not cleaned (roughly 2-3PM).
The rooms were not cheap either, so they don't even have that...
Read moreNot enough parking. Ice machine broken. Very expensive for basic accommodation but it was high season. They will wake you up at 815 with a leaf blower. In July. Not leaf season. There were no leaves to blow. It's loud. Kids clomping up the metal outside stairwell or banging on their own door with no care for others, slamming doors, etc. Lots of baseball kids in town for tournaments and it sounded like they were playing a game right next door.
You do get 1 free boat ride and 1 $5 meal discount per person per night. So our family of 4 stayed 2 nights we got 8 coupons for our $650. Just one boat ride not 4 or 8 though. I go to use 5 of them, our relative joined us for dinner the first night, and the waitress takes 20 not 25 off the bill. We say what's up, and she shows me 4 coupons. I know I handed her a stack of 5 but trusted her not to screw up by accident or screw us over on purpose. Next time, show them how many you are handing them, count them in front of the server. 5 dollar lesson learned. I get back to the room and yup, there are 3 not 4 coupons left. Food was okay, you're overpaying for the location and view but this left a sour taste.
325 a night with tax for a motel (I think they changed their name at some point to hotel but it is a motel) and they have to screw us over like that for 5 extra bucks? Same owners of motel and restaurant I think.
I will add a star because the towels provided were some of the nicest ones I've ever had. A strange thing to ace but they did.
Just admire the pictures of the lake and the orange roofs of the "hotel" and thank me if you...
