I booked this hotel for my daughter and her friends for her sweet 16 to enjoy the pool and time together. During the booking it was fantastic. The clerk was very hurtful and friendly. We discussed details and lays out of what was going on that day. There was no problems with me booking the rooms. She accommodated my request and assured me that my stay would be great. She even went ahead and booked the rooms side by side early to make sure we weren't split up. She told me to call back early that morning of the booking date to make sure we were accommodated and no one changed the rooms around. She stated she even put a note in the computer for whoever would assigned the rooms on 9/17/16. The customer service was great. We laughed and she told me all about how the hotel used to be Hamilton Inn and she hopes the stay would be great. We laughed about me having teenage girls together. Well on 9/17/16, I called and checked to see if the rooms were still side by side. The clerk stated that they were. I asked what time can we check in. The clerk replied around 4pm. I asked why so late and she said because they had a booked night and they were behind on cleaning. I responded okay. I proceeded to go get the room keys around 4 as told. I talked with the clerk about hotel and everything. There was absolutely no problem. She told me that it might get a little loud later on that night because she had some out towners staying. We laughed and I responded to her that it was fine because I was with a lot of 16 year old girls and we would all bend in together. She finished the transactions and asked me the model of vehicles coming with me and I gave her the vehicles as requested. I told her I didn't know the vehicles her friends were driving and she said it was fine. That went great. Now we are in our hotel rooms and we are setting up food and cupcakes while my daughter and her friends were getting ready for the pool. Our room phone rings, its the hotel manager but it wasn't the manager, stating she had some customers complaints that there were about 12 black kids running around the building and that they were proping the door open with bags. I responded mam we don't have 12 black kids running around the building and all of my children were getting dressed in the other room. She begins to get very loud and rude and stated that she was coming up to the room and check because it suppose to be 4 to a room and that she wanted to know who gave me the permission to book these rooms and have the party. I responded that its not a party we are simply having a little gathering and that its no difference if I had a group of athletics booking the room. She said informed me that I would have to leave because I had too many people in the rooms and that she was going to call the police. The manager asked me who booked my room and that they would no longer work for her come Monday. I said excuse me? She yes we don't allow this in our hotel. I hung up and proceeded to go down and talk with the hotel manager. Well to my surprise it was only the clerk and some other girls in the lobby. I asked the clerk to speak with the manager that called my room. She stated that she could get the manager on the phone. I said no the just called my room harassing me about 12 black kids running and propping up doors. I explained to her that the two in the pool were with me and the other ones were in the room getting dressed. I informed her that it was unethical of her manager to call my room state what she stated because we were black and that she was going to call the police. The clerk got upset and told me I had to leave and that she was going to call the police to make sure we leave. I responded to her that I would like to have a refund of my money and go. By this time she's on her personal cell phone calling the police. I responded to her that the comment she made was a racist comment and she should be a shame of herself. This is a public building and this behavior was unethical and ridiculous. I told her I was not leaving until my refund was refunded...
Read moreWhere to begin? My girlfriends and I booked a room at Red Roof Inn in Tupelo for a girls’ weekend. The ratings weren’t bad—not stellar, but we figured you get what you pay for. We checked in around 9:30 pm and started to settle in, only for a roach to crawl across the wall while we were about to play cards. We killed it and decided to look around more carefully. What we found was unacceptable: • A yellow flower pot full of dirt behind the microwave • A fake fingernail and Cheerios behind the fridge • Mold on one of the sheets • A half-eaten sunflower seed • A dead roach in the bathroom
At this point it was nearly midnight, and we just wanted to rest. We sealed up all of our belongings to protect them from bugs and slept with the lights on—because roaches supposedly avoid light. Sure enough, another one crawled across the TV stand while we were talking about it. We killed that one too, but needless to say, none of us slept well.
The next morning, just after 6 am, we reported everything to the front desk. The lady working was very apologetic and kind, assuring us she’d make a note and request a deep cleaning. When we returned later that afternoon, nothing had been done. The second front desk lady was also nice, but told us housekeeping had already gone home. She said the manager would be in soon, so we waited.
Unfortunately, the manager was the complete opposite of her staff. The very first thing she said to us was: “You aren’t getting your money back.” She was rude, dismissive, and acted as if we were lying. She claimed there was a note on our room saying “no room service.” That was absolutely false, and I asked her to call the front desk employee who took our request earlier that morning. We weren’t asking for a refund at first—just a clean room. Instead, we got attitude and accusations.
By this point, we were ready to leave and head to another hotel. When I spoke loudly about roaches, mold, and filth (since other customers were waiting to check in), she finally offered a refund for the second night—but only after being incredibly rude about it. She told us to remove all our belongings immediately and bring both keys. She even came to inspect the room herself and saw the dead roach we left for her to witness. When I requested a printed receipt for proof of the refund, she was visibly irritated and rude once again.
We left and checked into the Marriott down the street instead—night and day difference, with a clean, comfortable, and professional experience.
Final thought: The front desk staff were kind, but the manager completely failed at customer service. The room was filthy, crawling with roaches, and not cleaned despite our requests. We will never stay at Red Roof Inn again, and I strongly recommend...
Read moreI reserved a room for three nights and didn't even stay one! When my family and I arrived there were some sketchy people hanging out in the parking lot beside Red Roof Inn. Once we get checked in, we gather our things from the vehicles and head towards the room. On the walk to the room it smelled like something or someone had died in another room. When we walked in, EVERY light in the room was on, there was an open pack of facial tissue on the vanity, and it looked like someone had already been lying in the bed. I went back to the front desk and asked if that was possibly someone else's room or if someone else has access to the room. The young lady checked and never said whether or not it was or wasn't someone's room or if anyone possibly had access to it. She just informed me that they only had one room left with 2 beds but that it was a handicap room. I reluctantly agreed to take it. My family and I decided to go check it out before getting our things from the vehicles again. When we opened the door of the room, it smelled like it was full of mold and mildew and the floor was filthy. There was dirt all along the baseboards and the room just felt overall nasty. I went back to the front desk and informed the young lady about the issues with that room and was informed that since they were booked I would be charged for one night. I told her that I shouldn't be charged anything due to the fact that there were issues with both rooms. She tried calling the manager who wouldn't answer the phone. Then she called the owner who told her that we would have to pay for one night. If you want to feel a little safer and secure and not get screwed over, I highly suggest you find another motel or hotel to stay in during youre...
