Good Points… Relatively inexpensive. We stayed nine nights. Anna Kate working the front desk came to our room to reboot the Direct TV receiver in the bedroom that was not working when we checked in. Great attitude, wonderful employee. Ashley was friendly and helpful, another wonderful employee. Check in is at 3:00PM, they gave us early check in. Very good WIFI. Above average bathroom, lots of room and counter space, pretty good shower nozzle. Removable head would be better, but not expected in this level of hotel. Large cold refrigerator in room, microwave worked very well. TVs were new and the Direct TV service was working as advertised. Room was clean (not dusted), nice desk and comfortable bed. Couch was a little worn, but was OK. Parking was close and spots were always available. Pool looked clean, but we did not use it. Very large dog walking area with nice grass. Breakfast and Happy Hour were available. Two beers per person during Happy Hour. Scrambled eggs every day – very good. Also, sausage patty or ham or sausage links, waffles, grits, oatmeal, biscuits & gravy, toast, small muffins, cereal, yogurt, bananas most mornings.
Not so Good Points… Our biggest complaint is noise…. neighbors’ doors slam with such velocity that the walls shake, we jump out of our chairs thinking that we had an earthquake. The noise from upstairs rooms was more annoying, it sounded like someone dropping a set of barbells. This goes on all day, evening and part of the night. Your neighbor’s muffled voices can be heard through the walls, as well as their TV. No door between bedroom and living room. Closet door would not close, broken latch. Lamp on only one end table in bedroom, not both tables. Bathroom - no hot water during the first day, it ran forever to get lukewarm, sink never had hot water. Happy Hour food is embarrassing – canned ravioli or canned chili every night. Nobody eats it and it shows up again the next night. Housekeeping is sloppy: no dusting, layers of dust months old, made the bed without changing the sheets. We then asked for clean sheets buy they didn’t appear to be clean sheets. The hallway had a small piece of paper laying there for 4 days, we finally asked about it and they said they vacuum every day. Dog walking area had two poopy bag dispensers, always empty, one trash bin in the farthest corner so bags were piled on the ground. Most people didn’t bother picking up dog waste.
Summary… Our impression is that nobody is in charge, a perfect case of you get what you pay for… a few very good employees, but we won’t be back, the noise is a...
Read moreNobody here knows how phones or computers work. They have a new "system" that they can't figure out how to use - and they are provided no materials to help them figure it out - no how-to list or cheat sheet. So I don't blame the sweet women struggling to use the new system. I blame the company/manager for providing no practical help. No troubleshooting or means of compensating for the learning curve so guests don't have to stand at the front desk waiting for an hour. I mean, the woman at the desk did eventually just give me a room key and said she'd work on checking me in later (after checking the family patiently waiting behind me in)... so that's an option?
Anyway, it took almost an hour to get checked. My credut card was charged for my room twice (i had prepaid for it with travel miles). I spoke to 2 different people at the front desk and neither of them could help. I tried calling once and they kept saying they were going to transfer me and then I'd hear music for a minute and then the same guy would pick up and say he was transferring me again... for roughly 5 minutes... he finally managed to transfer me to the the front desk and that person promptly hung up on me mid sentence.
I called again and spoke to the manager and asked for a discount on my room because of all the trouble (including the phone calls I had to make to be reimbursed for one of the charges for the room). He wanted me to take the loss because they're learning this new system. Etc etc. I'm gonna have to call again.
Also, not a major issue at all, but I couldn't find any cutlery at the continental breakfast. I walked back and forth and around the corner multiple times looking for it and couldn't find it anywhere. I just wanted to make a pb&j sandwich and couldn't.
Also also, when I turned on the shower the water was brown when it first came out... it was only for a second made the shower less pleasant. The floor in the bathroom seemed warped. It was a walk-in shower that had the air of a public shower at a campground to it. Not clean but functional enough to wash my hair.
Overall, everyone was super nice but completely unhelpful. If felt like simply asking for help would (and did) create more issues. Maybe in a few months once they figure the system out it will be better. But it's really rough right now. They seek hesitant to do anything on...
Read moreLet’s talk about it, now that I’m back home. I will NEVER spend my money ever again at any Laquinta Hotels. If you can’t train your staff to be polite and professional you’ll forever loose customers. I know check in is at 3:00 pm. I drove in from Dallas straight to the hotel because I had an engagement to be at at 2:00 pm. I called to see if I can check in earlier. Kerry told me to call back between 2:00 pm or 2:15 pm. I went inside the hotel because I was already exhausted from driving 9 hrs. When I enter the hotel, no greeting, no smile just dry and asked me was I checking in I told her who I was and I called. She pretended to type the keys on the computer. Then she looked over to housekeeper and asked was 200 clean, the housekeeper never looked up from her cellphone and said no with an attitude. So I left out to go sit in my car until 3:00 pm. I was parked directly in front of the building. A caucasian man approached on his motorcycle at 2:15 he went inside, next thing I know Kerry brought out the bag cart to help him load his luggage, meanwhile we’re watching her. Then she came outside to vacuum her driver side with a portable vacuum. Now I’m confused. You’re on duty vacuuming your car. Kerry is the one with the black challenger. I go inside at 3:00 pm to check in. I asked Kerry for her name. The first question she asked was did I do something wrong. If you asked that question you know. Now let me talk about Annabel. She couldn’t explain the process of me paying another 135.00 for the room when clearly I had already paid it. Then she started rolling her eyes, huffing and puffing. All I needed was a clear understand and that seems to be a problem. Checkout Sunday morning Mimi customer service was top tier. I told her what happened the day before, Mimi said that it had been A lot of complaints with those two unprofessional women. I definitely will not spend my hard earned money with a business that hires unqualified workers. Working in customer service you have to have a great attitude, smile and act like you want to be there. I definitely will not refer anyone to this hotel. It wasn’t really clean. The two pics I added was the spill right by the elevator This was by the elevator where anyone could’ve slipped soon they got off.Snd Kerry...
