Short & Sweet Version: BUGS IN THE ROOM (See Photos below), Breakfast was cold eggs, lacking potatoes & bacon, Spa/Hot Tub broken, Computer Room - not even a room - it's an apple PC wedged in a gap around the front desk. Customer Service - Awful.
Now that we got that out of the way - I'll go into more detail.
If you look at my other reviews - then you'll see I like to go into places with an open mind and experience all aspects of a place - giving them any benefits of doubt. Having seen the reviews - I kept an open mind and chose SpringHill Suites because it looked promising.
Arrived in the early evening after driving for a while - was told that the hot tub was broken and that if I wanted - I could go to another hotel nearby and use theirs. (Fine, i get it. Things happen. No biggie)
The lady running the front desk was not as warm and friendly - so maybe they were having a bad day? Who knows - I don't care, I just want a clean room and a comfortable bed to sleep on. Got to our room and noticed there are bugs flying around. Not sure where they were coming from - but that didn't bode well for our experience. (No one likes things crawling or flying onto you when you sleep).
The next morning went down around 8am and they were out of potatoes and while there was still plenty of time for breakfast - they weren't going to refill it. When asked about other meat choices like bacon - they said they don't have any. Okay, so I had eggs and turned out - they were cold and rubbery. (Mind you I paid almost $200 for this "experience". )
I went to the customer service desk and voiced my concerns, and displeasure and was hoping for someone to be empathetic to my experience, but instead got a "I'm sorry" in a tone that sounded more like "It must suck to be you." They gave me an email address to mail the photos of these little bugs I showed them - but I have yet to hear back from them or anyone.
While everyone's experience may vary - I unfortunately had the short end of the stick. There are some things a person can overlook - however when there are patterns (as seen in other reviews) like the customer service (and the bugs) then perhaps you should take heed and go to the next hotel just down the road. I counted like 10 of them.
Knowing is half the battle - so now that you know - you can make an informed decision. Personally - based on my poor experience - I DON'T RECOMMEND SPRINGHILL SUITES BY MARRIOT IN VERNAL and that's sad because I was expecting...
Read moreThis is my first negative review, ever! Travelers, beware, because there are better hotels in Vernal at half the price. Here's our experience in brief. When checking in, I explained to the attendant that good internet was critical to us and was assured that, while it wasn't dependable in daytime it was "solid" at night. It was 4 PM, so that was fine. Spent the evening reconnecting (and I'm not exaggerating here) 60 times, never having a sustained connection for more than 6 or 7 minutes, mostly immediate disconnects There was no one on duty who seemed capable of helping (I tried). To add insult to injury, it was a 96 degree day in Vernal, and our unit (#321) was 74 upon arrival, and took an hour to get to 72 where it stayed. We had it set for 68, which the thermostat allowed, but 72 was all it would go. That meant no bedcovers for a hot sleeper. This, from Vernal's (and Marriott's) "finest."||||I spoke with several people about these issues upon checkout but they all referred me to the manager (who wasn't working). They were all pleasant, but unhelpful. I just wanted them to know the internet wasn't working and the AC wasn't either, a thing you do to alert them. They all referred me to talk with the manager, and gave me a card. I called 2 days later after arriving home (which they suggested I do). ||||The manager (April) listened to my brief review and said "I'll look into this and get back to you within an hour." Seven hours later she called, telling me I was wrong about the internet ("We had no one else complain" -- thereby discounting our experience entirely) and "we are so close to California that we restrict our AC to save energy." Yes, honest, she said that. Proximity to California = an ecosensitivity by Marriott. Really, she said that. So . . . 72 degrees at night. ||||But here's the kicker: she offered me $10 to "compensate" us. Really. I wasn't looking for a rebate (our night was $275), but that's such an insult, and she was such an officious, corporate voice that her $10 triggered this review. I like Marriott. We stay at other Mariotts. I don't write critical reviews of hotels or restaurants or resorts. But this hotel is low grade. Stay away. There's a Holiday...
Read moreOne lady at the front desk & a cleaning lady were w/out masks. I took no chances, sanitized all surfaces, aired out room. It was acceptably clean (no visible food, dirt, bedding appeared clean, bathroom, mic, fridge were clean). Noticed dust on a couple high touch surfaces (phones, lamp switches). Carpets were vacuumed acceptably. I wish the hotel offered complimentary foot covers as all carpets are hard to sanitize between guests and we forgot slippers. Next time I will look for a room with no carpet, easier to sanitize. Lesson learned. The breakfast food was good quality. Hot fresh. Good taste/texture. First cup of coffee was burnt (I probably got the last of that brew, drank it anyway), but second pot was actually great coffee (I drink black, so flavor is important to me, plus coffee is life for me). The lady serving the food came off the lobby floor from dusting. Went into a utility? room for a few seconds the came out putting gloves on dry hands- could not have washed. Since she served from a long ladle and only touched the bottom & edge of our dishes, I didn't say anything (my fatal flaw is midwest nice, ugh). It was kind of gross though. I mean, I ate it, so I felt safe enough from germs (didn't tell the family) but still. An inspector would count that as a violation. Pool was good sized, for one or two families to swim in, clean. The hot tub had a bit of debris. The towels were at the front desk which is a little inconvenient without some preplanning. We asked for a late check out of 5 pm, but were told we couldn't do later than 2. It would have been nice to be able to pay a nominal fee ($25 for 5 hrs?) for the extra time. We had business to take care of in the day and the kids did not want to hang out in the car for several hours. We ended up finding outdoor entertainment for the older kids. The little one had to hang with the adults. That was a...
