I pull into Sonic in Vernal, Utah. Car tired. I tired. Life tired. I order Route 44 Diet Cherry Limeade, hoping for small joy. What I receive… is liquid resurrection.
Cup is size of Soviet missile silo. I ask for diet, they say “absolutely,” and give me drink with so much cherry, I question what “diet” even means in America. First sip—BOOM—nostrils flare, ancestors cheer, leg cramp disappears. Suddenly I know how to fix relationship with father.
Then, she arrive. Carhop on roller skates. She glide like majestic eagle who work part-time at drive-thru. I try to tip her, but my hands shake from overwhelming citrus. She smile, wheels away like figure skater at closing ceremony of emotional Olympics. I cry little. Not from sadness, from hydration.
There are so many limes, I must name them. Gregor. Svetlana. And the strong one, who simply goes by "Z."
I finish drink in parking lot like gentleman, feeling like cowboy who wrestle thundercloud and win.
Thank you, Sonic. You are not fast food. You are experience. You are revolution. You are cherry-flavored freedom in styrofoam hat.
Will return. Will bring comrades. Will not...
Read moreThese guys get the orders wrong all the time. This time was the straw. We are about to leave on a long trip. Ordered asking for 2 of the biggest burritos you make. They gave us juniors. I looked in the bag before pulling away, as this has happened before. Said this is the biggest? She said, oh I thought you said juniors. No, we are about to go on a big trip we just need whatever your biggest burrito is. She charged us for a 2nd set of junior burritos. We gave back the juniors, and she hands us a bag with new. We get down the road, and she put the juniors back in the bag. I called her to tell her I think you sent us with the juniors, she insisted she threw them away and made 2 regular burritos. Why regular, I wanted the biggest? She said we didnt specify one of their biggest, so they just give regulars. Her name is Heather suposedly a manager of some sort. While talking she interrupted me plenty, but when i talked over her, she told me not to interupt her. I will be calling her corporate office and I wont set a foot near that place again unless they fire her. She is the worst and no kind...
Read moreSonic Food was hot and fresh. Service was great, friendly, and fresh. We went through the drive through. Everything came out perfect. As we are sitting eating our food. I notice there is melted ice cream all over my table. My blast was leaking. There was a break in the cup and instead of putting it in a new cup before they gave it to me, they just put a sticker on it. Because obviously melted ice cream is gonna be held back with a sonic sticker. With everything, being that great. I don't understand why you wouldn't just put it in a new cup. Why on earth would you give me a broken cup for a blast? I tried calling to just let them know that it had happened. I'm not worried about a refund or remake that's not important. No one answers the phone so i'm a little frustrated there. So yeah, great food, but don't order any ice cream. Unless you want it to be all over your table. Where your car or your hand or wherever your cup is because a sticker fixes a break...
