RUUNNN!! (Same issue as another person who left a review by the way) This hotel is absolutely the worst place I've ever stayed at. During our first night on our three night stay a drunken above stairs neighbor flooded their entire bathroom leaving our room flooding at 1am. Out of concern for the person upstairs and due to previous trauma where someone drowned due to being drunk, my fiance ran upstairs to check on the person and see if they were even aware of the situation. She was told they "didn't know how the shower curtain worked so they left it open". She then proceeded downstairs to inform the front desk agent *JESSICA* who was extremely rude. During the conversation she received a call from the drunk neighbor who FLOODED OUR ROOM who asked us NOT TO DISRUB THEM?!?!? *JESSICA* then proceeded to tell her " please don't disturb our guest". How in the world does them flooding our room and ruining our stay warrant that response?! *JESSICAS* reaction was to blame us for disturbing them and she also never even left the front desk to check on the situation. When asked if we could switch rooms she said there was nothing available. Out of concern of a drunken neighbor coming to our room and now having to deal with a flooded room and damage to our belongings, we called and found an alternative place to stay and we left that night around 2:30am. When we asked for a refund we were told that they wouldn't provide one due to the policy?!! Absolutely insane and terrible service from everyone at this property. I have now had to file a dispute with my credit card and if that doesn't work will be escalating. Please for the love of God run from this place. The cheap price is definitely not worth it!

I AM SOOOOOO GLAD I STAYED HERE AGAIN SO I COULD REMEMBER TO FINALLY LEAVE A GREAT REVIEW OF THIS PLACE. First of all, Matt (Matthew) is awesome!! Seriously, he is a credit the “old” hospitality days that no longer exist unfortunately. He is warm and welcoming and so friendly. He is a Virginia Beach native so he knows the area well and you can literally ask him anything and instead of the eye rolls and “I don’t know” huffs and puffs you normally get at most hotels nowadays, this guy with a smile will gladly tell you everything he knows and answer any question, even if you ask the same question multiple times. He truly is a hospitality gem and one of the main reasons i have stayed here so many times. Ok now on to the actual hotel, ITS FABULOUS!!!! Great price, quiet location - almost like a secret spot away from all the crowds and chaos that at the end of the night you can just secretly retreat to and recover for your next vacay day. They got jacuzzi rooms. Year round outdoor pool that’s open because its heated. Every room is like its own little apartment. I mean this place is fabulous. Frankly, i owe you guys an apology for not having wrote a review a long long time ago. Shame on me!!!! I LOVE this spot!! 10 STARS!!!!!!!!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Paid to have an oceanfront room only to find my view was of the side of a tractor trailer parked on the Boardwalk. People should be told in advance when the city of VA Beach decides to turn the boardwalk into a parking lot for big rigs. Who thinks this is a good idea? Very disrespectful to paying guest paying for an ocean view. At the very least they should have tried to make it right. but their response when I complained was there was nothing they could do about it. My advice is to always check what Va Beach has going on before booking your vacation. This hotel won't give you a heads up. Shame on them. See the photo for my fine ocean view.

My husband and used to love this hotel. We've stayed here twice before. The location is beautiful the room is set up nicely, but this time, we re-booked an origianal booking, through a Perks@work site that uses Priceline, so we could extend dates that we couldn't find through other sites. I even called the hotel to confirm they had it for a king jacuzzi suite, but when we arrived, we were told that it wasn't a king suite, but for two double beds, and unfortunately they were all booked up. Then the cleanliness issue. The room toilet had stains in the bowl, the tile floors could not be walked on barefoot because your feet would get filthy black, ( I used one wash cloth & room shampoo to scrub some areas) not just sand which is to be expected. When I woke up the next morning and sat up I noticed, a " rusty blood colored stain that I have pictures of" on my sheet which I missed, that was not from me, a post menopausal woman way past any issues like that! Then the worst observance of all, were the two very young and immature housekeepers, who swam in the pool early evenings many days, and were heard in spanish on day two of our stay, laughing and body shaming myself and other patrons at the pool on many occasions, which is absolutely unacceptable to any standards. Then, the next time we were there two days later, and they came after we were in the pool, one of the girls swam over behind me while I was talking to my husband and aggressively kicked water at me and they started laughing again. Remember these are employees of the hotel and not children just playing in the pool and is normal and it happens. This was very childish, disgraceful, rude and unprofessional behavior that should be addressed immediately. I have to be honest to say that due to feelings of embarrassment and fear that something would happen to either our property or room, I did not voice this as I had no faith in the desk staff as well because of the check in issue with the room type. Two things that happened in our room that were odd though during our stay after that, were coming back after a long day out, our refrigerator was opened a crack, enough that some of the items were not as safe to keep, and in the last days our room safe was not locking all of a sudden and maintenance said a piece broke in half inside, that he showed me, and had to replaced. We kept extra vehicle keys and other valuables in when gone, but everything was accounted for. Needless to say, we will not be...

I stay here when visiting the beach because its really clean, perfect amenities, location & priced nicely. For the most part awesome staff EXCEPT for a 😡certain group of latino/mexican etc (s) that are employeed here & have access to rooms via keys for work but instead they intentionally 6am & thru the overnight from 8pm -1am literally off & on enter the rooms & are psychotic in thumping, banging & laughing while doing this deranged acts as they blast latino music. (I saw them thru the peephole & he was petite with a navy blue jacket & black hair 6am this morning) 🤮After 12 midnight staff is actually using an electric drill. 😬 notified front desk on 2nd of Dec 2024 several times thru the night & was told nobody is in the room next door or above yet I tell her they enter & depart as well as the staff rooms across from my room & to the right & did the above & she stated no one wrote (reported) my other complaints but she was writing up a slip. That division in teamwork is WRONG & understood by the ones committing the offenses as a pass for other employees to continue & spreads like a virus. 👹Again 6am on 3rd of Dec 2024 & was informed that she was the only staff supposed to be at work yet I saw the male enter the staff equipment room as his coworker/s friends entered the room next door again & banged around for like 15mins. 👎WE ARE MATURE ADULTS SO I SHOULDNT HAVE TO EXPLAIN THE NATURE OF WHAT IS GOING ON. Schooners is such a WONDERFUL hotel with awesome amenities, greatly located & nice prices especially during these dangerous economic times; Unfortunately they have hired based on the efficiency of tasks being done with major lack in social, common sense hospitality customer service & division in teamwork. Personal attitudes deters making the report. There always seems to be like a little group of this at this hotel which means they must have been here for a while or s😳meone keeps hiring this N🤯STY DERANGEMENT OF HOTEL NARCASSISTS. I intentionally left this detailed review so that the individuals involved are addressed because Management needs to handle THAT behavior. No one should have to pay for a room, then they get paid from your stay & be put in a position to have to deal with such people that work here & it wasnt an room occupant. Its just a shame with respect to business that quantity is more important...

We checked in for a weekend. The first night everything was wonderful. They let us check in an hour early and the room looked pretty nicely updated for an older hotel.

Then the cracks started to show. Literal cracks in the floor and the toilet. Over the course of two days the room has begun growing increasingly stale. This was because of the towels (we were at the beach) mixed in with an AC unit being a little weak.

A little weak turned into flat out broken though. The unit was running non stop, but the room was getting hotter and stuffier. We called maintenance and the worker said it was working, but there were two central units for the whole building and one was still set to heat, in July. There is no way that story checks. If false, then our room AC was broken. If true, then it means management didn't turn on the full building AC by July, which seems like bad building maintenance.

The maintenance worker came in the morning, on a day that was nearly 100 degrees all day. By afternoon the room went up two more degrees. By the early evening, the room went up another four, but it was so stuffy that we couldn't breathe. We decided to end our vacation at that point. I went down to the lobby to tell the front and ask for a refund for the night we were leaving. The front desk worker looked like I was putting her out for some reason (sorry that I was politely asking for a refund because your place if employment didn't delivered the product, an inhabitable room, that I paid for?). Not even an apology, just a look at disgust as if I was bothering her.

We were told to go through Expedia to get a refund. Expedia could not reach hotel management. We called. And left a message. No one has returned out message. We left because the lack of proper airflow and functioning AC became a health hazard for my young kids (one of whom is a baby). I expect a refund for the night that we were forced out, but we are now being ghosted with not even so much as an apology. The Schooner Inn does not think payment for the room means payment for an...
