My husband and used to love this hotel. We've stayed here twice before. The location is beautiful the room is set up nicely, but this time, we re-booked an origianal booking, through a Perks@work site that uses Priceline, so we could extend dates that we couldn't find through other sites. I even called the hotel to confirm they had it for a king jacuzzi suite, but when we arrived, we were told that it wasn't a king suite, but for two double beds, and unfortunately they were all booked up. Then the cleanliness issue. The room toilet had stains in the bowl, the tile floors could not be walked on barefoot because your feet would get filthy black, ( I used one wash cloth & room shampoo to scrub some areas) not just sand which is to be expected. When I woke up the next morning and sat up I noticed, a " rusty blood colored stain that I have pictures of" on my sheet which I missed, that was not from me, a post menopausal woman way past any issues like that! Then the worst observance of all, were the two very young and immature housekeepers, who swam in the pool early evenings many days, and were heard in spanish on day two of our stay, laughing and body shaming myself and other patrons at the pool on many occasions, which is absolutely unacceptable to any standards. Then, the next time we were there two days later, and they came after we were in the pool, one of the girls swam over behind me while I was talking to my husband and aggressively kicked water at me and they started laughing again. Remember these are employees of the hotel and not children just playing in the pool and is normal and it happens. This was very childish, disgraceful, rude and unprofessional behavior that should be addressed immediately. I have to be honest to say that due to feelings of embarrassment and fear that something would happen to either our property or room, I did not voice this as I had no faith in the desk staff as well because of the check in issue with the room type. Two things that happened in our room that were odd though during our stay after that, were coming back after a long day out, our refrigerator was opened a crack, enough that some of the items were not as safe to keep, and in the last days our room safe was not locking all of a sudden and maintenance said a piece broke in half inside, that he showed me, and had to replaced. We kept extra vehicle keys and other valuables in when gone, but everything was accounted for. Needless to say, we will not be...
Read moreI stay here when visiting the beach because its really clean, perfect amenities, location & priced nicely. For the most part awesome staff EXCEPT for a 😡certain group of latino/mexican etc (s) that are employeed here & have access to rooms via keys for work but instead they intentionally 6am & thru the overnight from 8pm -1am literally off & on enter the rooms & are psychotic in thumping, banging & laughing while doing this deranged acts as they blast latino music. (I saw them thru the peephole & he was petite with a navy blue jacket & black hair 6am this morning) 🤮After 12 midnight staff is actually using an electric drill. 😬 notified front desk on 2nd of Dec 2024 several times thru the night & was told nobody is in the room next door or above yet I tell her they enter & depart as well as the staff rooms across from my room & to the right & did the above & she stated no one wrote (reported) my other complaints but she was writing up a slip. That division in teamwork is WRONG & understood by the ones committing the offenses as a pass for other employees to continue & spreads like a virus. 👹Again 6am on 3rd of Dec 2024 & was informed that she was the only staff supposed to be at work yet I saw the male enter the staff equipment room as his coworker/s friends entered the room next door again & banged around for like 15mins. 👎WE ARE MATURE ADULTS SO I SHOULDNT HAVE TO EXPLAIN THE NATURE OF WHAT IS GOING ON. Schooners is such a WONDERFUL hotel with awesome amenities, greatly located & nice prices especially during these dangerous economic times; Unfortunately they have hired based on the efficiency of tasks being done with major lack in social, common sense hospitality customer service & division in teamwork. Personal attitudes deters making the report. There always seems to be like a little group of this at this hotel which means they must have been here for a while or s😳meone keeps hiring this N🤯STY DERANGEMENT OF HOTEL NARCASSISTS. I intentionally left this detailed review so that the individuals involved are addressed because Management needs to handle THAT behavior. No one should have to pay for a room, then they get paid from your stay & be put in a position to have to deal with such people that work here & it wasnt an room occupant. Its just a shame with respect to business that quantity is more important...
Read moreWe checked in for a weekend. The first night everything was wonderful. They let us check in an hour early and the room looked pretty nicely updated for an older hotel.
Then the cracks started to show. Literal cracks in the floor and the toilet. Over the course of two days the room has begun growing increasingly stale. This was because of the towels (we were at the beach) mixed in with an AC unit being a little weak.
A little weak turned into flat out broken though. The unit was running non stop, but the room was getting hotter and stuffier. We called maintenance and the worker said it was working, but there were two central units for the whole building and one was still set to heat, in July. There is no way that story checks. If false, then our room AC was broken. If true, then it means management didn't turn on the full building AC by July, which seems like bad building maintenance.
The maintenance worker came in the morning, on a day that was nearly 100 degrees all day. By afternoon the room went up two more degrees. By the early evening, the room went up another four, but it was so stuffy that we couldn't breathe. We decided to end our vacation at that point. I went down to the lobby to tell the front and ask for a refund for the night we were leaving. The front desk worker looked like I was putting her out for some reason (sorry that I was politely asking for a refund because your place if employment didn't delivered the product, an inhabitable room, that I paid for?). Not even an apology, just a look at disgust as if I was bothering her.
We were told to go through Expedia to get a refund. Expedia could not reach hotel management. We called. And left a message. No one has returned out message. We left because the lack of proper airflow and functioning AC became a health hazard for my young kids (one of whom is a baby). I expect a refund for the night that we were forced out, but we are now being ghosted with not even so much as an apology. The Schooner Inn does not think payment for the room means payment for an...
