0/5 AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Hotel is absolute TRASH!!!
Will try to make a long story short - my wife and I decided we would take a vacation to nearby VA beach after dealing with a specifically stressful year both in our careers and personal lives. Days Inn offered competitive pricing and was PICTURED as a 3 to 4 star hotel(we booked through booking.com). Upon arrival we immediately noticed not only the trashy appearance of the facility, but also the awful sewage smell, and the arrogant staff members(not front desk - they were at least somewhat helpful)
Margaret helped us check in early(after having to argue with a trashy guest who screamed and refused to vacate his room) and we began our first entry into the hotel. Met immediately by the smell of a facility that has not been cleaned proper in years. Smelled of sweat, weed, cigarettes, and sewage all throughout. The elevators were even worse somehow. The room was also rough, smelled really bad, and had clearly not been properly cleaned in years, every surface felt greasy/slimy, and the sheets look like they had simply been flipped upside down. The room had also been advertised as partial ocean view(which it wasn’t).
We attempted to cancel immediately upon arrival but unfortunately came during a busy week and no other hotel nearby had availability. It was either us cancelling our entire vacation, or us tolerating the filth we had unknowingly booked. Over the days(we booked 6 nights total) housekeeping refused to actually clean the room, when we kindly requested they come and clean the room to the front desk, they said they’d send someone and either NEVER did, or the housekeeper would come in, put new towels in, and leave all the trash and sand on the floor. At one point housekeeping came into our room, changed the towels, spread trash we had around and SMOKED POT IN THE ROOM, leaving an awful smell - the front desk refused to do anything about this and had just dismissed the housekeepers for the day.
Side note: the fire alarm went off 2 of the 6 nights we were there waking us up between 11:00pm and 1:00am because guests were smoking in their rooms. The fire department had to come and inspect the floors each time and the hotel did nothing to mend this either.
This doesn’t include the awful, uncontrolled crowds at the “continental breakfast” which is literally just waffle machines, burnt eggs, and soggy sausage links(every single day), the unsafe facility with puddles everywhere on the floor from plumbing leaks, the constantly stalled or delayed elevators, the absolute LACK of ANY parking spaces(they let the public park there until 2pm each day for free to access the beach even though they PREACH ample parking and that they tow trespassers), and the trash that this hotel keeps as its regular residents to whom it gives preferential treatment.
Another side note: Room 307 has bedbugs, other rooms most likely do as well
Absolute 0/5 - for your own safety, sanity, and health - AVOID THIS FACILITY.
They refused to do ANYTHING in compensation of my AWFUL stay and experience. Never go to this place or any comparable, it will...
Read more5 stars all the way! I took the time to read some of the reviews both good and bad and I gotta point out that not every one can be pleased. For the amount that you’re paying and what you actually get and for where you are you can’t beat it. It’s a place that you’re resting your head for crying out loud. We understand the world we’re in and the time we’re in so you have to use compassion and understanding. No one want to work anymore and those who do are either over worked or have their own personal life problems or mixture of both. This doesn’t excuse problems or areas that could use improvement in no way but this is where we as humans remember that we’re all humans all going through the same thing. If you’re able bodied and expect more then come get a job there and put in the work and effort to make the change you want to see. Ah but see that’s were the issue comes in at. It’s easy to let out frustrations, which may be justified, but it’s much harder to be the change. Have compassion on the people who this is all they got and for the people who are working there do the best of your ability.
The night staff was great. I wasn’t able to catch the names of the woman and man working but beautiful spirits and kind. Funny too haha. Yeah the breakfast could use work but I was grateful for what they had. The rooms were spacious, and beds softer than any other hotel or motels I stayed in. (I’ve been to quite of few places) the cleanest place I’ve been in thus far and the safest place I’ve felt. Not exaggerating when I say this, but it felt like a slice of Heaven the night I stayed there. I was overjoyed the entire time! Now I may have some bias because I’ve seen some hardships that not many people do, but for what was provided I’m definitely glad I stayed there. Thank you...
Read moreA trashy, unsafe hotel run by an unprofessional and rude staff. Thin walls, unsavory looking individuals wandering the parking lot, and just a generally poor place to lay your head at night.
I did not choose this hotel, a family member booked it for me. After we checked in we went to the room and were immediately concerned about the lack of lighting outside many of the rooms. The lights outside our room were broken and/or missing and it was very dark. When we entered the hotel room the first lamp we tried to turn on was broken. Once we finally got the lights on we were disappointed in how dirty the room seemed. The furniture was chipped, scratched, dented, etc and looked like it had not been cleaned for quite a while. We could hear the person in the next room flipping channels on TV and when he coughed it sounded like he was standing right next to me. There were some sketchy looking people just hanging around in the parking lot that were paying an awful lot of attention to our car and we decided we'd be better off at another hotel. We returned our keys to the front desk and they offered to upgrade our room for an additional $10. We said no thanks and that we would like to cancel the reservation. We were told that we would need to contact the website the room was booked through. The next day we had to go back to straighten out another problem. The manager insisted she couldn't refund us because the room we had been in for five minutes needed to be cleaned. Darn right it needed to be cleaned, but not due to anything we did in there. They refused to refund us for the room and were very rude about it. Also, during this time they had to run someone off because the owner "didn't want him on...
