My stay at the Hampton in was good/relaxing. I really enjoyed myself with my daughter. The view was so breathtaking and the convenience of stores, shopping, restaurants was incredible. The staff was friendly and answered any questions I asked. I did have an issue with housekeeping or lack thereof. But before I get into that, my room had a king size bed but the darn pillows were NOT for a king size bed and more for a full or twin size. The duvet cover was ripped and the comforter was coming out all the time and was clumped up inside the duvet. Other than that the bed was comfortable. On the bottom of the bed frame was scratched and scuffed up like the hotel didn't upgrade their furniture. The toilet barely had any water in water. To the point I had to pour sever cups of water in the toilet in order for it to flush. I wish the TV's in the room were much bigger. 32 inch is descent but for the prices of the room there should be 47 or higher for guests.
I love the fact that breakfast was included. I like the fact that there was a fitness center/pool on the premise. Both were smaller than expected and the pool seemed to have something floating on top of the water throughout the entire pool. It didn't seem safe to swim in so I never took my daughter there. After letting her see for herself she didn't want to any way. Back to the housekeeping issue I had. I arrived on Christmas Eve (Friday) afternoon and was told that I needed to request housekeeping services in advance so I did. They also informed me that all the housekeepers were off except one on Christmas. I was expecting them Sunday morning but DID NOT get any services until about 1:30pm. And that was only because I called to complain. To make matters worse housekeeping was on my floor that whole all morning and NO ONE came to my room. So I opened my door to ask what's going on and two of the ladies didn't understand English. That's what one of them told me. She gave me her phone with a translator app open for me to type in my question. I asked her when will they get to my room? She shrugged her shoulders and shook her head and basically said I don't know and pointed to another housekeeper on my floor. They came very early on Monday, but again NO ONE came on Tuesday.
So again I called the front desk to complain and a guy informed me that I am on the list of guest who requested services. And that housekeeping has until 5:00. So again I called to complain, now at this point it's 4:30 and still no housekeeping services. This time a woman picked up and apologized for the hotel not providing housekeeping, and told me someone will bring up some of the necessities I need of course. If I didn't stay on top of this I would not have seen not one housekeeper period. That alone was enough for me to choose 3 stars. Again I feel for the amount of money that was paid I should've received top notch service throughout my...
Read moreOnly really good thing about this hotel is the location and renovated rooms. The elevators are scary bec they are super shaky and rattled a lot.
I was extremely disappointed that the wifi was not working and the front desk failed to tell me this during check in. When I called about it after checking in and realizing it wasn’t working, the front desk told me “it should be working.” The next day I tried again and it didn’t work. I was able to connect while in the lobby but it disconnected when I got to my room. I called the front desk again and was told that the engineer would reset the wifi for our floor. I waited, tried to connect again and it still didn’t work. I called the front desk back and after putting me on hold for a long time, someone else came on the phone and told me that the wifi on the 9th floor does not work and they ordered a part to fix it, and that it won’t be done that same day. I asked why no one told me this when I checked or when I first called about it, bec if I had known then, I would’ve requested to switch rooms. She then acted surprised and asked “oh you called before?” And then proceeded to offer me 10,000 points and that she will have the engineer reset the wifi again for me. At this point I just said okay and hung up.
However, I felt as if not only was there a lack of transparency, I was also lied to. Also, I felt as if my intelligence was insulted bec how are you going to tell me a part needs to be replaced and it won’t be done that same day, but then after hearing I have complained before, I am now rushed off the phone with a measly 10,000 points, a lie and no apology? Lack of wifi is an important amenity that was not provided and would’ve made a difference in my decision when booking hotels. Also, I find it interesting that I was charged for my pet fee, and also refused additional bottled waters because they can only give out two per room (which is all fair and part of the rules) but I was not provided any refunds even though all amenities that were supposed to be included was not provided to me (i.e the wifi).
Additionally, the person who seemed to be the main chef for breakfast was rude and although she was not necessarily yelling, but she was speaking in a very strong tone to guests when it wasn’t warranted (I witnessed her do this to several different guests). She was a woman with a...
Read moreNot impressed by this Hampton Inn hotel during our stay last week. We had a suite on the top floor, 10th, with an amazing view but the room itself was less than desirable for the amount of money paid. Almost $2000 for four night for a glorified large motel room. The space was definitely large but the furnishings were sparse and worn.
Two queen beds, two arm chairs, small fold out couch, small desk, and an office chair. One small vanity and a single sink. Pictures will show mold around the bathtub and bathroom floor, office chair was peeling, and overall the furniture was beat up. The room smelled like it had been smoked in and the mirror closet door was broken. One of the plastic seals that on a siding door was all bent out of shape and it wouldn’t go back in place.
There was a random sound that could be heard coming from the ceiling of the bathroom, sounded like water pipes humming. Random times of the day. Not super loud but annoying.
Be aware that google maps shows an outdoor pool literally touching the building, but this pool belongs to the Springfield Suites next door. We still used the pool and bar with no problems and the bartenders were great. Hampton Inn has an indoor pool but it’s so hot, humid, and smells like chlorine we didn’t use it.
Between the indoor pool/gym is a door to the parking garage that constantly had a ladder holding a bucket and leaking water all over the floor.
The complimentary breakfast was ok.
The on-site restaurant Chichos was decent but had the same worn out feel the rest of the hotel had. Served food late which was good. The video game on the right eats your quarters and no one cares, “oh yeah we should put a sign on it.” Two days later, no sign.
Did we tell any of this to manager? No. Why? Because these are all small issues and for some people this might be ok, but for the price everything is just blah.
The only amazing part here is the view. If you like sunrises and having endless views of the beach, the 10th floor is where it’s at. Even sunset views through the hallway windows were great. At half the price this hotel would have been a good value.
As for Virginia Beach, 50% of the time the boardwalk and streets smell like weed. Not a hotel issue, but just know if you have kids you might have some explaining to do. Kinda a surprise with all the...
