I stayed at this hotel many nights and had no complaints. However, the craziness at my last stay there forces me to give a zero star review. I went to the pool area, and some man I had never seen before started telling me i needed to leave, cursing me out, threatening me, for no apparent reason other then he didn't like my style of clothing. This person insisted he could force me to leave the hotel and the owners didn't like me. I tried to walk away, but he blocked my path and challenged me to fight him. I went to the front desk to complain, but he followed me, and and made the exact same complaints as me, as if I was the one who had done these things to him.The managers insisted we both go stay in our own rooms. I was dissastified with this, and asked them to ask the other people at the pool what had happened which they wouldn't do.
As I was walking outside the pool area making a phone call, the man was still in the pool area, and he was talking and joking with one of the managers. I decided I wouldn't let this psycho intimidate me. I went back in to the pool area, at which point he called the police and lied, claiming I was harrasing people, acting crazy, threatening and assaulting him. I walked to the front to greet the police so I could tell my side of the story. At this point, he said I couldn't leave, it was too late, the people at the hotel would back up his story, I was going to jail, and if i tried to leave he would physically restrain me. At this point, I realized his plan had been to bait me into hitting him, at which point he would call the police and report an assault. The craziness of the situation i was in overwhelmed me, with the police on their way and this man and presumably the managers willing to lie and say these things, for no other reason then my counterculutral fashion style (blue hair, punk look). I had been the ideal guest before, kept to myself, no friends, parties, etc while many other guests partied throguh the night, litterd beer cans, swam in the closed pool at night etc.
At this point, I was seeing red/i fight or flight mode, and did take a swing at him. This was what he wanted of course, and chased me, tackled me and put me in a choke hold. The manager told him to keeep me there, and another person (his friend, or maybe just a person who had just got to the pool and didnt see the context) were all yelling at me about how I was going to jail.
Luckily the cops didnt buy this guys story, and I was let free, with a ticket for disorderly conduct (him too) and banned from the motel. I wouldn't have believed this story if it hadnt happened to me. The man had rotten teeth, and im guessing he was a methhead, thats the only thing that makess sense.
Before this experience, I would have said this is the best motel in the area, clean rooms, good service, decent price etc.
But after this craziness I experienced, which was a premeditated plan by this man.. and at the very least the owners did not handle it well, if they were not complicit,.. again, for no other reason then my hair color and fashion sense, I have to rate this one star. People should know there is a dangerous psycho who lives at this motel, and for reasons I don't know, the management is unwilling t do anything...
Read moreYou know those roadside motels that are featured in horror movies? This place was the inspiration for them. It even came with the standard white trash traveling (construction?) crew, their equally white trash girlfriends (bikinis cheap beer and cigarettes in hand), who gave us the staredown as if WE were the ones out of place. Ever see Devil's Rejects? Kinda like them, minus all the makeup.
I knew I wasn't getting the Sheraton when booking this reservation, as I was looking for a bed and a bathroom for the night for myself and my girlfriend (insert under the bus throwing here: she knew the area and suggested this place.) $85 for the night was a deal. And being affiliated with a major chain, this shouldn't be bad at all. I should have listened to my concerns though pulling in (see white trash roadies, unkempt grounds). Checking in, the gentleman behind the counter was very nice to us, but his shirt was so worn and had so many holes in it, I was hoping that the money the hotel was saving not buying shirts was going right into keeping the rooms in luxurious conditions (sometimes ignorance is bliss). We get the room keys and we were right next to the road team. Cool, horror movies never really scared me, maybe if I live one I can finally get my scare on.
The room was nonsmoking, but walking in it smelled like someone may have switched the signs by accident. Oh, and the windows were wide open, so even a little air certainly wasn't going to help. The carpet was only vacuumed in the areas that it can reach or the maid felt like. Meanwhile the corners had dirt that was caked in, a chisel might be needed for the next spring cleaning. I decided to check for bed bugs. Pulling the corner of the sheet to expose the mattress showed hairs, mosquitoes, flies and ash. The mini refrigerator, which was doubling as a TV Stand, was running, but not keeping cold. No big deal, but it smelled like something died in there. Air conditioning smelled like mildew was growing in there.
Having enough and seeing some other options coming in, I went back to the front desk. To the disappointment of the front desk and the white trash road team, the reservation was cancelled and...
Read moreAs a family group, we booked three rooms for two nights and a fourth room for the babysitters for the second night so we could attend a wedding nearby. Upon arrival, we walked into the front lobby and the clerk moved quickly to hide a crossbow under the desk (yes, I'm serious). All rooms were supposed to be non-smoking. We opened the door for the first room and were hit with an overwhelming odor of stale cigarette smoke. The rusty mini-fridge was sitting on a painted plywood box and there was visible mold on the carpet around it. Next, we noticed the yellow-stained comforter and pillow shams and the yellow stains on the mattress. The wood sliding closet doors were both off the tracks and one had a large hole in it. The back of the room door was supposed to be white, but was so dirty it looked tan. The lampshades were dirty and had holes in them. There were too many stains on the chairs to count and each one had multiple cigarette burns in it. I wouldn't even let my walking 2 1/2 year old in the room, let alone my crawling 9-month old! Then we checked on the second room that my in-laws had checked into. The door frame had visible damage at the latch from being forced/kicked open at some point. There was a piece of carpet missing and the picture frames were rusty. There were some dark red splatter dots on the ceiling. The tiled bathroom walls weren't clean. The odor of stale smoke in the second room wasn't quite as bad, but still very noticeable - especially for a non-smoking room! The reservations were made in February through Expedia and were non-refundable. We thought the Travelodge name stood for something, but apparently there is no standard of maintenance or else no inspections made by any corporate offices. When we returned to the front desk 45 minutes later after making the decision that we couldn't stay there (although we had no where else to stay), the clerk didn't seem surprised, acknowledged that the condition of their rooms were terrible, and refused to give us a refund or make any attempt to satisfy us. ...
