Updated.. They ran out of Gingerbread cold brew Christmas week.. š I went out of my way to come try it. Great management.
Okay so I usually get coffee for my co workers and bosses at my building and rook is nearby so I usually go to them. This review is based off of the dozens of times I've had their coffee and I usually get the cold brew, I take my coffee very seriously and if I'm gonna pay $5 for a coffee everyday I want it to be something I enjoy, my biggest problem with rook is the consistancy with flavor and to test this I usually try to get my co worker the same coffee as myself so that we can compared to last time, so I'm not the only one that thinks it taste difference almost every time. Sometimes it tastes to bitter and sometimes it tastes to milked down, the quality of the coffee is pretty good overall. Rook measures the amount of coffee each time they make it as least from what I can tell, so I dont know what goes wrong, it could be the creamer or the wrong tap or not enough sweetener. I assure you it has nothing to do with my pallet, I've traveled all over and the first thing I try when I travel is the coffee of the area. I just wanted to make it known that when Rook makes you a coffee sometimes it can taste amazing which sets the bar high for me and then the next time for whatever reason it just doesn't taste as good. I hope they don't dislike me because of my feedback but coffee is something I enjoy and I always have high expectations for personally and when those expectations aren't met I can't help but feel I wasted my money when that happens. I don't want to be that guy who always complains but for a coffee house without espresso it's pretty damn good and addicting but when it doesn't taste as good as the last time it just bums me out. I still will get coffee from here but I dont think it'll be on a regular basis as much.
P.S The best coffee I've ever had would be Bean Trader in North Carolina, there's a couple decent spots in NY and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter attending my mandatory CA Meeting (Coffeeholics Anonymous) in Belmar I decided there is no time like the present to take control of my life. I will no longer be shackled by the beliefs of those who feel it is not OK to use espresso shots as a chaser to down a handful of crunchy single origin coffee beans. Therefore I used my twitchy google fingers to find the nearest brown watering hole and stumbled upon Rook. After opening the door I entered this quaint fast paced cafe and realized I was in heavens lobby. Options Options Options is the name of the game here with coffee taps protruding from the back wall like Pinocchioās noses.
The atmosphere is tight bright and airy like I prefer in a mate. I had the coffee options explained to me and was impressed with the concise but appealing descriptions given by the barista. I chose the Bali and another of the Sumatra brew for backup (no cream no sugar) and what a tantalizing SINsation this was. The coffee did not blow my face offā¦but it was very good overall. Certainly no comparison and leagues above the places that rhyme with āStarsucksā and āPumpkin Go Nutsā. I also may or may not have owned a few cafes in my past and have a greater appreciation for āthe beanā than the regular Joe.
It was a quick visit and it didnāt strike me as a place to hang (not sure there was seating or any food items beyond small snacks) but just order ahead and walk in to find your quick fix waiting. Youāll be equally as happy walking in and placing your order on site based on the descriptions of whatās drippinā. Donāt miss the nice little merch and whole bean coffee display area around the bend. Iād revisit again after my next meeting and so should you. Follow along on my journey as I travel the states in my coffee truck and review everythingā¦damn near everywhere. @realreviewseverything coming to TikTok as soon as I recover from this caffeinated stupor :)

Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen the coffee is good, itās real good. The problem though that they have is not the recipe that creates the flavor. Itās the people who make your coffee in the morning... These employees all have their own little station. One person takes your order, one makes it and one rings you up. Rook has a few problems that they canāt find a way to solve. I travel fifteen minutes every morning to get Rook coffee. About 2-3 days out of every week, these incompetent employees tend to make my coffees the way they feel like making them. Maybe itās because they want to make it how they enjoy theirs or just donāt know how to fulfill their customers order. If the coffee does not come out the way I ordered mine; it tastes like burnt Starbucks coffee. ( very simple- milk and two sugars) So now since Rook has no problem taking my money and handing myself a coffee that I didnāt order or even maybe the wrong coffee, I will be posting a new review everyday that they screw up my order. Letās make this simple... today my coffee was absolute garbage! Yesterday my girlfriends coffee had zero sugar in it. So two days in a row Rook Coffee in Wall township has sucked! I pay for one thing and they give me something different. Thatās not what I paid for! Oh and the text in order (10 minutes prior) is a failure. The place is so unorganized, the mobile texting order part is pathetic and their line situation is slow due to their unattended operation.
So tomorrow keep an eye out for a new review. Honest and fair...
