My partner and I stayed at Avid in Warren over two nights for a Saturday night concert. From the moment you walk in, the attention to detail is apparent. The colorful lobby is equipped with comfortable seating, and coffee, tea, and sparkling water is provided 24/7. There is also a small market where guests can buy additional snacks and drinks. I felt as though there was a sense of community because people were hanging out each night. Both of the hotel receptionists we spoke to were very kind, friendly, and provided excellent conversation.
The room itself is chef's kiss. It is spotlessly clean and the bed is so comfortable. I usually have trouble sleeping in hotels, but I slept like a brick both nights. We also did not notice any noise despite the area getting rather raucious at night. The AC and minifridge were both efficient. No waiting for your room or water to get cold! The double curtains were a nice touch. The real star of the show is the TV though. There is a large flat screen near the bed with the brightest display. In the bathroom, there is a full range of Dove products and plenty of towels to go around. Pro tip - change the shower head to the mist setting for the most relaxing, luxurious shower of your life. Bonus points if you bring your own shower steamer! (Just don't leave a mess for the housekeepers if you do, please.)
Breakfast was delicious, much better than at other hotels I've been to. There's fruit, cereal, various flavored muffins, high quality yogurt, juices, eggs, and more. Come early to breakfast for the most delicious, crispy breakfast potatoes. My only minor complaint is that they no longer serve breakfast sandwiches, which I was really looking forward to.
The area itself is great. The hotel is located near lots of shops and places to eat. We loved being removed from downtown Detroit for sleeping while still being close to all of the action. We walked to Motown's Pizza (delicious btw!) around midnight on Saturday and had no problems. And for the price it's unbeatable! We will...
Read moreOur week stay was very pleasant here. We would stay here again. It was clean & quiet. There's 2 elevators which only 1 elevator was operating. That sometimes was a problem.
We couldn't get enough of the 24/7 beverage area which has fresh ground coffee with flavored creams and several different choices of tea. We loved this amenity.
We enjoyed the continental breakfast with hot egg, sausage/bacon on a biscuit/english muffin sandwiches. They would have little egg omelets, (some days egg white) that I'd put on bread. We also enjoyed the 4 differnt juices. ( My family loved the cranberry juice.)
We liked how the lobby has different seating areas with (3) tv, not some cafeteria style seating. One night there was 3 different meetings/parties going on in the lobby. Each in a different area.
The staff was very friendly always greating us when we passed them.
The gym was nice & clean. We enjoyed it.
The room was nice. It was quiet except for the few times there was noise going on upstairs. The property sits near an expressway which we could not hear the traffic.
The room was simple with hooks on the walls. Has large tv. Power stations were located all around the room. Cubby holes that were also a seat. There's no carpet in the room which we liked. Carpeting can be so yucky.
We found the bed very comfortable and slept well. My family loved the feather pillows. I do not like feather pillows.
The bathroom had some nice amenities that were in wall dispensers. The shower has 2 showerheads, one is handheld. The showers water pressure could have been better.
Overall it was one of the nicest hotel stays we've...
Read moreI would rate this zero stars if possible. Check your bank statements because their staff steals your card and makes unauthorized purchases with your card.
I booked a room through Expedia and paid in full. When checking in, they charge $100 for a deposit for incidentals. I caught them trying to charge me for a room (that I already paid for). It took them several tries to fix this. I paid for my room and the deposit and then go to my room. We checked out early after using the room.
So I notice two days later that my bank account is missing money. I check my transactions and notice I got charged by Expedia, the $100 deposit, plus an additional charge for a room from the hotel that I did not authorize.
I can't dispute the charge until it's done processing (but the money is removed from my account). I try calling the hotel, only to find out their menu options don't work the way they are suppose to. I go in to the hotel, where there is no manager for 3 days. They find out I was charged at 2:40 am (after I had already checked out). I never authorized that purchase, nor was it the card I paid for the room with.
I was told management would contact me within 15 minutes, and I have been waiting for days. I have bills to pay and can't afford to have additional amounts stolen from my bank account.
This is shady. There are countless other hotel options in the area (some are even in the same parking lot). I would suggest that you stay at any hotel other than this one. I would give it zero stars if I could. Highly...
