I can’t even begin to explain the feelings I have for the GameStop at 11 and Hoover. Let me start by saying I was in there a few weeks back and was trying to return a controller. Mind you even of it was opened their return policy says you CAN return brand new opened items within 30 days. I had bought it that morning from the same lady I was returning it to (the manager Tamara) whom says she’s been manager here for 10yrs. So I walk it and say I would like to return this. My son decided he didn’t want it. Tamara says it looks like it’s been opened. Do you mind if I open it? Sure, go ahead I say. She opens it pulls the controller out and says there are finger prints on it. It’s been used. So if you don’t mind bringing back the controller you swapped this one out with I’ll gladly return it for you. I said you just touched it. Those are probably your finger prints. She went back and forth with me all the while humiliating me in front of a store full of people. Talking to her assistant manager..Before I gave up asked for corporate( whom I never called, and don’t know why) I left there in fury. I can’t believe I was treated the way I was, and humiliated like I was. I left there and went up the road to the GameStop at 14 and vandyke. Where I had not a problem at all getting my money back and was treated with respect. I then explained my situation to the gentleman there whom informed me that there is a bar code on the controller itself that should match the bar code on the box!!! Mind you Tamara is supposed to be manager of the 11 and Hoover location for the last 10 years! 10 years and you don’t know that the barcodes should match? I call to inform her on this information and let her know I felt humiliated and should ha w handle things differently. She wasn’t there I left a brief messages with an associate who told me they were the assistant on duty then. She apologized and said she would relay he message to Tamara. Now this is our Go To store. It’s right around the corner. I went today still with no hard feelings of my humiliation to buy the new FarCry 5, a $64 game! Who happens to be the only one there when I walk in Tamara! I still proceeded to ask for the game. I then have to ask if she remembered me and wanted to know if the message was relayed. I asked with respect and remained polite. She says No, I don’t. I start to say a couple words and all he sudden she remembered, but all she has to say is I called her old, and made fun of hers and her assistants appearance!! Are you kidding me?! First off no! Second off was the importance of the message even relayed? I said no I did not, and if I did that’s not the point of the matter here. She says you’re right it’s not. I say I just can’t seem to understand who you aren’t aware of the barcodes matching. It would have save me the humiliation and time. She says she thought she handled it well. TELLING a customer in a store full of people to bring back the correct item and accusing them of wrong doing was the correct way to handle the situation I guess. That’s not it though. As I said I’m back to buy be New Game FarCry and she then says if that’s all the way you feel and you feel I humiliated you why did you come back? Why did you come back to my store? I was so baffled. I could believe she said that! Mind blowing! I said are you serious? Why did I come back? This is where I always buy from, but not as of today! Never again. I asked for my money back and walked out. Suck a shame. I just hope the point of how to handle situations and informing her of the barcodes for across so no one else in the future has to deal with what I...
Read moreIt's sad that a customer knows more about trade ins and deals than the assistant store manager (Crystal) i went in to trade some stuff in and first of all she did not want to accept anything. Telling me she has to take a bunch of the trade in credit because there was a scratch on the console. That's only the beginning. I asked her if I would he able to buy a quest 3 with my trade credit online and pick it up so i can save $25. She said no it's only for in store. So I said I'll just go to another gamestop. I went to the 13 mile and gratiot store and the guys over there had no issues at all. Traded everything in without an issue. Also when I go my trade in card I used it only to buy the quest 3 so the assistant manager has no clue about anything at gamestop. Read moreI pre-ordered Zelda Tears of the kingdom. When I asked about my pre-order bonus I was told that it was while supplies last, so I did not recieve one. I did not receive that information upon purchasing. I did not even have a chance to get the preorder bonus because the midnight release was announced only one day before the release date. I had to work, there was no way a working person could show up to that. I also asked for the new TOTK pro controller, which they were also out of stock. The lady said they had only 7 of them total. What is gamestop even thinking? Only seven of the new controllers on game launch? Also the lady cashing me out was telling me about how her ex fiance was first in line for the midnight release, so she had a bad day. I dont know what that was about.
