No one advised of construction on hotel. We were at hotel for over a week and children were hoping to be able to swim. There was hammering on walls of hotel and people working outside our window. More than once I went down to desk to voice my concerns and was told a manager would be down but never did we see one. Also asked for an extra towel multiple times and only 1/2 the time we were provided one. One morning we asked for an additional towel and were told there were no more so I had to dry off with hand towels. Each employee had a different story and no one knew what the other one was doing. Bed was the most unconfortable bed we have ever had. Due to a change in our original reservation, we had 2 seperate reservations. I had asked in the beginning if this was going to be an issue or would we have to move 1/2 way through our stay, we were told no but when that day came, we tried to get in our room and our key didn't move. first we were told we were scheduled to check out, after 20 minutes of trying to figure this out, employee saw we were were staying 5 more days but she had us going to another room. she said she would fix this and reactivated our key. 3 hrs later our key didn't work again and we were told we had to come down and redo paperwork and after 4 attempts our key was finally working properly.
Due to the nature of our vacation we were unsure of the date we were going to leave. We had a reservation with priority club points was through Friday July 19 but decided to leave on July 18 as our tournament was done. I asked multiple times if we would get our points back if we left early and were told yes by priority club and hotel staff. It has been 2 weeks and we still have not received any point refund.
Overall, we have stayed an multiple Holiday inn's and Holiday inn express. Usually we have the best luck with this motel chain which is why we usually choose this chain, but this motel was far the worst stay we have ever had. So bad that for the second week of our vacation we stayed at a different...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe saving grace here is that the front desk people and the employees were all really helpful and friendly. For anyone who reads my reviews, you know I rarely leave a bad review. If I think it's bad enough that it would cause harm or extreme discomfort to people to patronize a place or at least benefit them to avoid it; than I feel like obligated to write a negative review.
This place is not just a soulless large corporate chain hotel with no character or charm, it's worse. Despite the no smoking signs everywhere it's clear that guests ignore that here.
My room reeked of cigarettes. The front desk person offered me some anti smoke smell spray but i don't really like that stuff either.
There was a lot of noise; general rowdy party chaos, people yelling, loud intercourse. The walls are pretty thin and that also makes the rooms not feel very private themselves.
The room was not particularly clean. There were some stray body or quite possibly pubic hairs in the shower.
The quality of the sheets, pillows, towels; are about as low as it gets. The most synthetic and minimal nothings that sheets can get.
The whole place just really really doesn't feel good, and that not good feeling is backed up by the poor attributes of most aspects of the hotel.
I would like to reiterate though, that the staff is great. In terms of the cleanliness, I place no blame on the staff. The cleaning staff that I have seen seem to be really busy and working hard and were all polite. I bet they are all underpaid and overworked and do not have the resources and support from the hotel that they need to do their jobs. Such is often the case with corporate chains.
I travel alot, I have stayed at a huge and diverse variety of hotels, inns, airbnbs, motels, resorts, and so on. I have stayed at a lot of cheaper rooms large corporate hotels. This experience very much stands out as the worst one I have had at a corporate chain.
I would definitely reccomend doing whatever you can to avoid staying here. It is not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo, I booked this hotel for a business-related training conference that is occurring over the weekend. I booked this in August 2023 for a November 2023 stay and booked under the government rate since I am a government employee on official business. Before I booked, I even called the hotel and spoke to a guy at the front desk and he said that they don't offer government rates on weekends but since I was booking online and it was letting me book, to go ahead and do it, so I did. I even verified with the online chatbot that it was good to go. Today, October 3, 2023, I received an email from the GM, Maurice, who stated that I could not get the $98 rate as contracted, and he had to raise my rate to $165/night. Maurice was respectful and explained that it's his hotelās policy not to honor government rates on weekends, not IHGās policy. I only stay at HIE's and have never had this happen nationwide. This was a first for me. He gave me a special military rate (I am not military) which was more that I could rebook for myself. I said to cancel my stay. ||Here's what I found out after some research. There is a two-day big concert (Metallica) at Ford Field that weekend, so it makes sense that he would try to extort me for more money thinking I am a concertgoer, which I am not. To wait a month before my stay to extort me was not nice. I think this hotel reflects poorly on IHG brands. I am an IHG member with frequent stays on their properties, but I will never use this particular one in the future. I am just blown away. Good luck to anyone else who tries to book here, be prepared to be...
