My family and I have stayed at this hotel several times, due to the accommodations of their wheelchair accessible king suite, with a roll in shower. My mom is severely disabled and has very specific needs while traveling. I pre-booked this specific room a month in advance, via the Hilton app. directly.
When we arrived to check in, I was casually given a non-accessible standard queen room. We realized this only after unloading all of our belongings, as well as my mom, pushing everything to the room, only to find out it was not wheelchair accessible. We took everything back up to the front desk, where I then proceeded to show the rep. my confirmation email, where it specified the King Suite with a Roll In Shower. I was then told that our room had been given away, as it was overbooked and there was nothing they could do. Mind you the hotel parking lot was nearly empty, so I hope the person who they gave the room away to, actually had a need that required it. The front desk rep was certainly not rude but just felt like he lacked compassion. After going in circles, he offered to show us another wheelchair accessible room with a tub. As we were exhausted from driving all day, we accepted the room and proceeded to stay there the entirety of our stay. Due to the difficulty in packing up and moving around with a disabled individual, we opted to stay there for the remainder of our trip, although my mom was unable to shower for the entirety of our stay. Additionally, as we were there for the funeral of a family member, I didn’t have it in me to battle with the front desk about making this right.
We were told two different stories. That our room could just be given away due to overbooking (which again, as i mentioned the parking lot was never more than 50% full throughout the entirety of our stay). Typically when someone requests an ADA specific room that they’re protected and usually blocked off from being given away.
You would think that ADA rooms would be protected from these typical overbooking policies, as people traveling with disabilities cannot be as flexible as those without.
Lastly, upon checking out I inquired about the rate I was going to be charged and was told that I was being charged the king suite rate, even though we were moved to a queen room. If I wouldn’t have asked, they would’ve charged me a higher rate, after a terrible experience, and for a room I didn’t even stay in. Luckily, the front desk rep was kind enough to assist and adjust it the best she could.
We will not be staying here in the future if their policy does not protect ADA rooms and those traveling with disabilities. Anyone should be warned of this before staying in a Hampton inn or this location specifically.
OG Review:
Staff was pleasant and knowledgeable from my initial call to book (through the front desk). My mom has very specific accessibility rooms and the front desk representative was able to answer all of my questions regarding accessibility (which is actually had to come by, believe it or not).
Upon arrival, check in was a breeze. The team is polite as a whole and everyone was in good spirits making us feel warm and welcome!
Room was clean and comfortable although our automated blinds didn’t seem to operate properly… unless it was operator error. Just a note for housekeeping is there was a previous guests Bobby pin left on the nightstand, which was a little alarming… in the sense of how clean was the room really? Visually, it was fine and nothing major. Things happen and we understand but definitely something worth mentioning. Additionally, we needed to use the pullout sofa and there was no pillow for it and only one light blanket. I went to the front desk and requested one of each, to which the front desk happily provided.
Overall, comfortable and nice overnight stay here. Thank you for...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Hilton Hotel, Hampton, and Suites in Warren, Michigan, while visiting Detroit for business trip, and I must say, the experience was exceptional.
From the moment I arrived, the friendly reception staff made me feel incredibly welcome, even though I arrived a bit early. They quickly prepared my room, and I only had to wait about five minutes. The lobby area is beautiful, with coffee available and a welcoming atmosphere that exceeded my expectations for a three-star hotel.
The hotel offers a range of amenities that made my stay comfortable and convenient. The business center was a lifesaver since I didn’t travel with my laptop. I managed to get some serious work done, and the free printing service was a super plus. The complimentary breakfast was amazing, with fresh waffles, juice, and percolating coffee. The availability of water in the lobby at all times was a nice touch.
Even though I’m not a smoker, I appreciated the designated smoking area, which was thoughtfully placed away from the front entrance, unlike many other hotels. This added to the overall pleasant experience. The location is somewhat industrial, so having a car is necessary for getting around. However, there were convenient options nearby, including a Middle Eastern restaurant open until 10 p.m. and a gas station for quick snacks. Walmart was just a short four-minute drive away, making it easy to pick up any essentials.
The room itself was excellent. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room darkening curtains ensured a great night's sleep by keeping out the morning light. The room included all the amenities I needed: a refrigerator, coffee machine, large mirror, iron, and a closet with plenty of space. The fitness room and pool area were also nice additions.
Overall, my stay at the Hilton Hotel, Hampton, and Suites in Warren was fantastic. The friendly service, comfortable accommodations, and convenient amenities made it a memorable experience. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the...
Read moreThis was a great hotel. It is brand new. In fact, we found out the other hotel across the parking lot is brand new as well, within 9 months. They are both owned by the same person. Everything was nice and new. The rooms were great and comfortable. This was the first time I have seen a Privacy switch on the wall, instead of the door placard that says I do not need room service. This is about time. Europe has had these for years, so it was nice to finally see in the States. My only complaint is the housekeeping service leaves a slip of paper in the door that says 'Sorry we missed you'. This is really not needed with the Privacy button. It is quite unnecessary and wasteful of Paper. I travel in the States frequently, and when I stay at a hotel, I pretty much know it has housekeeping support. It's kind of a no-brainer. Clean and comfortable, and that makes for a great stay. If I am ever back in Warren, MI I will definitely stay here again, or try the hotel right next door. Keep putting money into these investments. Even something as small as skipping the fabric softener to save money, is noticeable. Keep up the great work on...
