I would appreciate half a refund. I never write reviews let alone a bad one but I was extremely disgusted and disappointed. Me and my boyfriend booked a night stay. The first disappointment was the woman who booked us was training and no one was there to coach her. So when she quoted us I asked if that was after taxes and she unknowingly said it was. To our surprise we still owed about $50 upon checkin. She was very unprofessional and rude as well. The pricing was not entirely her fault but the unprofessionalism and rudeness was. Leaving someone in training in charge of booking and pricing made me realize management isn’t doing a good job at managing. I was hoping everything else would be satisfactory. After we checked in we went to our room. Due to covid-19 I brought cleaning supplies and our own bedding and thank god I did. The bed was very sloppily made as if they just made the bed after it was used without changing the bedding. Due to the fact, I checked the room afterwards and ran a hot bath in the jacuzzi tub with bleach and let it sit to disinfect. About 30 minutes later I go to drain it and there was scum, debris, hair, and dirt around all sides and bottom of the tub. The shower tile had pink and yellow mold everywhere as well as the glass shower doors were full of soap scum. I scrubbed both the tub, shower , and the shower doors and the mold, soap scum and filth came out. Clearly house keeping is not cleaning, which is extremely concerning especially with a pandemic happening. The air vents were filled with dust, cob webs, and filth. The microwave had sauce splatters all on the inside top of it and the furniture was dusty. I was a team lead at a house cleaning company for 5 years so I knew nothing much had been done cleaning wise. If the room would’ve been clean I could have gotten past the other disappointments. Aside from that the suite room is very spacious and full of necessities. A living room with a loveseat and chair, a full kitchen with a full fridge, sink, stove, microwave, and pots and pans (we brought our own.) the bed was very comfortable and big. If you’re looking for a suite with a big jacuzzi ask staff about it because our jacuzzi was pretty small. More so a jacuzzi tub that tightly fit 2 people but spaciously fit a single person. The only good thing I have to say about our stay was the older man at check in. His name is Mike and after cleaning our own room that we paid for we went out to get food and I brought up these issues to him on our way out. He apologized and was very helpful and extended himself to make sure anything we needed was taken care of. He was the only staff who seemed to care about customer satisfaction. The manager here, a woman I think her name is heather needs to be trained so she knows expectations for both staff and customers. Management is a huge job and if not done properly this is what you get. I hope no one else has experienced this here because as a paying customer you have expectations. I attached some photos which included the bathtub, shower tile, and filthy air vents. I am sending the manager photos via email and hoping to god she actually steps up. Be...
Read moreIt’s disappointing to write this review about this hotel as I had high hopes given that it’s a Marriott brand and paid $170 for a night. We arrived to the hotel around 7pm. It’s in a great location with nearby restaurants and stores. The lobby was under construction, which I was okay with, and they assigned us to a third floor room. We entered the room and it’s spacious and newly remodeled. From there, things went quickly downhill. I went to use the bathroom and tried to flush the toilet. Mind you, I only peed and used a small amount of toilet paper. The toilet barely flushed. My husband contacted the front desk and was told that this was “normal” as this is a “water saving toilet” and you need to “flush it a few times” to get it to work. It seems like that would be counterproductive to having a “water saving toilet”, but I digress. We then left to go to dinner. We come back to the hotel to go swimming and use the advertised hot tub. Surprise. There’s no hot tub. The front desk informs my spouse that they are trying to remove that info from the website. We go to the indoor pool area which is just off the lobby (the pool is not heated fyi). As we left the pool area and walked out the door into the lobby area, we were greeted by a cloud of what looked to be smoke. It was not smoke, it was the front desk person sweeping up the construction materials (the tile floor was being torn up). There was plumes of dust down the main hall way, including the area where the free breakfast is served. This is obviously concerning because there’s no protection from this dust plume into the food area where people are eating and the food is prepped. Back in the hotel room, there’s a full kitchenette with a full refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave (excellent!). Well, I hope you weren’t planning on sitting at even a small bistro table to eat, because there’s no where to sit and eat a meal in your room. Well there is a desk with one chair if that works for you and your family. This is a large hotel room but poorly designed. Also, if you are looking for a luggage rack to place your luggage, you’re out of luck on that too. I do have to say that the bed was comfortable and the room had black out curtains. |I used the workout room and everything is covered in a layer of dust. I did clean off two machines for them. The toilet did plug up in the morning. Couldn’t get ahold of the front desk after multiple attempts. I went to the front desk and was told that maintenance wasn’t there and was provided a plunger. We didn’t eat the free breakfast as I don’t like my food flavored with tile dust. Besides the toilet not working, the small side table was broken upon our arrival along with a non working lamp. I left notes on each of these items for housekeeping and management to address. I’m highly disappointed with our stay here and will never be back. Marriott needs to get their act together. There are better ways to manage a hotel especially when it’s under construction/repair. I don’t want to sound like a Karen, but for $170 a night, I don’t expect this many issues. I will be requesting a full refund because all of this is unacceptable...
Read moreAfter spending a month at TownPlace Suites Warren, MI, I wanted to share my experience with those who value fitness and a good meal while away from home. I had great experiences with all the staff and have had the opportunity to write about each of them here. I normally do not write about experiences, and I have stayed in hotels all over the world working for the Government. TownPlace Suites Warren front desk personnel Georgio is a quiet and humble employee who is quick to realize what your interest are. Georgio's observation of my fetish to work out and eat afterwards was realized when he approached me after my first week stay at TownPlace suites, and asked me what did I think of the fitness room and the food? I found it a bit awkward because it is the first time in my experience that any employee of a hotel showed concern about fitness accomodations. Now, what I am saying about concern is that Georgio wanted to make sure that the fitness facility and the dinner was satisfying and adequate. So as Georgio and I spoke about the gym and the meal, he was making notes. I saw he was enthusiastic about ensuring that my stay and the other hotel guest had adequate gym equipment as well as a good meal. Now, dinner is only served Monday to Wednesday at TownPlace Suites, but it is well worth it. The chicken wings, lasagna, salsbury steak are delicious. Add the tobaco sauce on the wings and wala!!
Anyway back to Georgio... The following day I returned to the hotel after work, and Georgio greeted me. He seemed a bit excited and he proceeded to explain that he ordered some yoga mats, and some more training equipment based on our conversation. I told Georgio (Laughing) that I was only there for a couple more weeks. Georgio's response was " I know, but other guest will come and enjoy also" I saw that his sincerity and concerns extended beyond to future guest. That is a quality that is not taught in training. Georgio is a genuine person. So, if you ever meet Georgio take the time to get to know him as well as the other TownPlace Suites personnel Anderson, Sue, Murial, and Lavinia. Georgio will ensure that your stay at TownPlaceSuites will be comfortable. Now, the gym is nothing like a big name gym, but it is functional for a good cardio or weight training session. So don't go thinking it is comparable to big gyms. It is sufficient for being away from home. Marriott TownPlace Suites has great personnel in place to ensure your experience away from home...
