My friend and I were looking for some good pub style food. We walked in and the place we not really busy and nice and quiet which was nice. Our server asked if we wanted to do trivia but it was too early in the night and we did not think we would be there that long....we were incorrect. We started off with a round of drinks, we tried to order some of the happy hour snacks but she kind of cut us off and just left. The first round took a little longer than expected but the drinks were good. Extremely pricey but at least they were good. The server tried to take off again and we stopped her and asked her if we could order two of the happy hour snacks. She stopped me and started looking all over for them listed, I tried to let her know we already knew what we wanted but she started rattling them off the top of her head and had some trouble. So we put our order in for the snacks, the lamb gyro flatbread and meatballs. They were both delicious when the food runner brought them out. The meatballs had a little spice at the end but a very nice sauce. The server never checked on us and saw if the food came out alright. We also needed another round of drinks. It was probably fifteen minutes of no one coming over, so when I saw her glance over I waved her down. We asked her if we could please get another round of drinks and maybe put our dinner order in. She totally left the empty glasses at the end of our table, which was a theme that stayed for the evening. I went with the Walter Burger and it was delicious, fries came with it and they were great. My buddy got the cheesesteak which was also delicious and quite large. But again, server never came out to see how the food was. I needed another refill as well and I found a QR code at the end of the table for ordering items. I thought maybe she forgot to mention that and we were supposed to use that the whole time. So i ordered another round of drinks and she did eventually come over, but it was to kind of complain that I used that QR code, she told me I should put all orders through her. She asked what I tried to order and I informed her. 10 minutes later the manager/owner came and dropped my drink off. We had been there for more than 75 minutes and trivia was getting started and it was becoming louder. We had to once again flag her down for the bill, I grabbed the handheld payment machine and noticed she had already selected the 22% tip which I immediately changed to 10%. She had been at our table a total of 4 times in over an hour, 3 of those times she was flagged down, she never cleared a dish or glass away from the table, and she never once asked how anything was or if we needed anything. Im sorry she is lucky she got 10%, well I handed the machine back to her and she looked at it (kind of unprofessional) and immediately went "Oh, well OK" with a good bit of attitude. My friend was shocked and almost commented back but I cut him off. Being from Baltimore I dont expect pleasant or great service, but I couldnt believe how bad that service was. Great drinks and food though, awesome portions and a...
Read moreWe tried to come to Walter’s and unfortunately my friend slipped on the stairs. This could be expected as it was raining outside and the stairs leading down to the hostess stand were wet. Immediately the bouncers aggressively confronted us for being too drunk. When we tried to responsibly explain that we were not but that it was just wet and she was wearing high heels so slipping could happen they refused to let any of our group in and did the classic macho thing bouncers do in these scenarios by getting in your face. I do like Walter’s but I recommend they fix their bouncer situation as it is a turn off to customers trying to have a drink to finish off their evening. I do understand the industry as I worked in it for 10 years but there is a way folks don’t have to be so confrontational that it almost gets aggressive. Tbf witnessing such behavior is a turnoff and I’d rather not spend my money at a place who hires unprofessional staff who don’t know how to handle situations like this.
Response: Again, please see the unprofessional point. I never said my friend was assaulted but if you look at the cameras, I never entered your establishment. I only tried to talk to your bouncers and they got pretty aggressive. My fiance caught the person you're stating fell over drunk and didn't just fall to the ground inebriated to deserve being kicked out without a conversation. Context does matter and a wet environment/high-heels did not help. Regardless this is not how you handle a review, nor is it how you conduct yourself in a professional manner when a problem is pointed out. There's been several other reviews via Google that have pointed out the aggressive behavior of your staff. I would of refrained from posting this if I hadn't seen the other comments mentioning similar issues. I will stand by this review. In the future I'd recommend not replying in such a manner. You're in the service industry these things can happen,...
Read moreLet me start by saying that if you are looking for a sports bar with great food, drinks, and service, you have found the right place. I have been coming to Walters for the past two years, mostly for soccer events or big games, which was the case this past Saturday.
When we walked in, the place was packed, as I expected. However, we were greeted by a rude and disrespectful security guard named “Mike” (or at least that’s what he said his name was). We wanted to ask the hostess about a waitlist for a table, but the security guard kept putting his hands out to prevent us from speaking to her. We eventually asked the hostess if she could help us, and she kindly informed us that they had outdoor seating with heaters and big TVs.
We headed in that direction, but a couple of minutes later, our waitress and hostess came to our table and said they had a table for us. I was thrilled, and everything was going well until I saw the security guard berating our waitress, which made her go into the kitchen in tears. When she came by our table to check on us, I could see she was still upset, and it broke my heart. This young lady named Mirella was working incredibly hard and didn’t miss a single drink order.
A little while later, I was waiting for a friend, so I went to the door to see if the same security guard would let him in. He snapped, “We aren’t going to do this all night,” and called me the “B” word. We exchanged words before I decided to walk away.
We spoke to a manager who listened politely to our concerns. I could have given Walters a low rating due to this incident, but I wouldn’t do that because of one person's behavior. I hope management considers hiring someone who is more customer-friendly and capable of dealing with patrons respectfully. I also hope they recognize the hard work that Mirella brings to the restaurant.
I will definitely be back, but I will walk away if this particular security guard is...
