🌳🌆 Exploring Yards Park in Washington, D.C.! 🌆🌳

Today, I had the opportunity to visit the amazing Yards Park, a 42-acre (17-hectare) space located on the Anacostia River waterfront in Washington, D.C. This place is at the heart of the Capitol Riverfront Business Improvement District and was originally an annex of the Washington Navy Yard.

🔹 History and Transformation: In 2004, the U.S. General Services Administration awarded the property to Forest City Washington, Inc. for redevelopment. Now, the site hosts 2,800 new residential units and 200,000 square meters of office and retail space. 🏠🏢

🔹 Location: Yards Park is situated in the Navy Yard neighborhood, west of the historic Washington Navy Yard and east of Nationals Park. It is accessible by the Navy Yard – Ballpark station on the Green Line of the Washington Metro. 🚉

🔹 Park Highlights: The park offers a variety of green spaces, walking trails, event spaces, and stunning views of the Anacostia River. It's a perfect spot to relax, have a picnic, or simply enjoy the beauty of nature in the city.

✨ Tips for Visiting: Bring your camera to capture the spectacular views. Enjoy a walk along the river. Don't miss the regular events and activities happening in the park.

Visiting Yards Park was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend it to anyone in Washington, D.C. Come and discover this incredible urban space and its rich...

Looking for a FREE spot to beat the heat? 📍The Yards Park, Washington D.C. 💦 Apart from being a beautiful park, with a lovely boardwalk, an insta-ready bridge, and a great spot to watch the sunset, it has a great FREE water feature where kids and adults can play! Yes, adults can get in the water too. 🙌🏻 💧It has big shallow pool with a “waterfall” and a splash fountain. There are tables under the shade (below the bridge) where you can sit, relax and watch your kids front row. There’s also a grassy area where you can find a spot under a 🌳 to ground yourself, release stress and perhaps take a nap. 📌 Address: 355 Water St SE, Washington, DC 20003 ⏰8AM-10PM 🅿️ Multiple options all around. Street parking, garages, BUT the one I prefer, and recommended by @familytripguides too, is the Lot Q. Therefore, the address to this parking spot is: 425 Tingey St SE, Washington, DC 20003 🅿️ Located beside @districtwinery ⁉️ Why park here? •You’ll be closer to the whole Yards Park, where the waterfront/boardwalk restaurants are including ice cream like @icecreamjubilee •We usually eat/support @eatlafamosa puertorrican restaurant where you can eat Mofongo and is a block from Lot Q, where there are more ice cream places too. •Decently priced. On this visit, yesterday, we did an 8 mile bike ride starting from The Yards. So we were there for some time. $1.00-$3.00 hourly. Depends on time of the day/day of week. • Great spot to start and end a tiresome bike ride. It was so refreshing! 🅿️On a previous visit we parked on the lot by the Dog Park. But that’s in the far end of The Yards and Lot Q is more kid-friendly. 🚲 Pair this outing with a bike ride/playground. I’ll post about it later 🚻 Smart portable on site FREE of charge, very clean, with hand washing station. Feels like an actual restroom. Portables in the area too. Plenty of restaurant/fast food places where you can consume something and use the restroom like @potbelly #theyardsdc #theyards #splash #splashpad #navyyard #summervibes #summer #summer2023 #districtofcolumbia #washingtondctrip ###visitwashingtondc
