Organized my office's first off site holiday party here. I've been trying to do something like this for years but had one major factor working against me: no company budget. Mission's absence of a room rental fee and no food/drink minimum, and employee funding contributions made the party possible. I had reserved the Main Bar Back area, which to my understanding was the area between the second floor main bar and the wall separating the dining area. When my boss and I arrived, we found out we got bumped to the ground floor plaza bar left side boxy area and half the bar. When we asked the tall gentleman who greeted us to double check, he checked his paper and reiterated that we were downstairs and that the second floor had been bought out (not cool - I had made the reservation almost a month in advance). We walked the area to make sure that was ok because we had about 30 guests attending and we decided that was fine...we should all fit. In the span of about an hour it was clear to me we wouldn't all fit and the rest of the bar was packed with other patrons. I asked the asst. GM if there was anything she could do to provide more space as we were 1) not given the area I reserved and 2) still expecting about 5-8 more people to show up. She extended our area to include the patio doorway on a whim. It did help alleviate the squeezed in feeling. My issue with not having the space that I reserved was the fact that no one notified me ahead of time of the change - that wasn't cool and I would have been totally fine with the change had I just received a heads up. My boss and I were scrambling 5 minutes before the party started to notify as many people that we were downstairs (Mission did place a sign up just as the event started). I'll blame it on holiday chaos. For that simple fact I would have given 3 stars.

I'm giving 4 because Kelly accommodated us with additional space, the bar staff remained super nice and attentive throughout and after the event, food was great, and every one of my colleagues left exceedingly pleased. I do plan on having more events here in the future with an even...

"Mission" is an absolute culinary gem, and my dining experience was elevated to extraordinary heights thanks to the impeccable service provided by Lauren. From the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism, setting the tone for a remarkable evening ahead.

Lauren's attentiveness and knowledge of the menu were unparalleled. She guided me through the tantalizing array of dishes with expertise, offering insightful recommendations that perfectly complemented my preferences. Her passion for the culinary arts shone through in her descriptions, making every dish sound like a masterpiece waiting to be savored.

Throughout the evening, Lauren ensured that every aspect of my dining experience was flawless. Her timing was impeccable, effortlessly anticipating my needs without ever intruding on the conversation or ambiance. Her genuine enthusiasm for hospitality was evident in her infectious smile and genuine care for each patron she served.

Not only was Lauren an exceptional server, but she also exuded a genuine warmth and kindness that made me feel like a valued guest rather than just another customer. Her personalized attention and unwavering commitment to excellence truly set the standard for exemplary service.

In addition to Lauren's exceptional service, the cuisine at Mission was a symphony of flavors that danced on my palate with each bite. From the innovative appetizers to the decadent desserts, every dish was executed with precision and artistry, leaving me eager to return for another culinary journey.

Overall, my experience at Mission was nothing short of extraordinary, thanks in no small part to the exceptional service provided by Lauren. Her dedication to excellence and passion for hospitality truly elevated my dining experience to new heights, making it a meal I will cherish and remember for years to come. If you're looking for a dining experience that seamlessly combines impeccable cuisine with unparalleled service, look no further than Mission and ask for Lauren—you won't be...

I'm not sure the real purpose of this restaurant other than to take advantage of people attending the Nats game or who are already drunk. The night I went, I was neither. Left an event at 10:45 on a Wednesday night at the Cove DC looking for some place whose kitchen wasn't closed yet and I could eat. Mission's kitchen didn't close until 11. The downstairs was closed, so had to go upstairs. My semi drunk PIC and I sat at the bar. We were the only ones there, so the bartenders were very attentive. My friend ordered a spicy margarita, served in a blue glass so at first glance one would think something was wrong with the drink. The only thing wrong was it was twice more mixer than tequila.

As she was starving, she asked for chips and salsa, not realizing this wasn't a Tex-Mex restaurant that serves those as soon as you sit down. She looked at the menu and asked for chips and guacamole. The bartender charged her for both, so she received 2 trays of chips, one with salsa and one with guacamole. The chips didn't look it, but absolutely tasted burnt. She also ordered the beer battered haddock taco and the mango shrimp taco. I ordered the mango shrimp taco and the potato empanada. If veggie empanadas are on the menu, I'm definitely ordering them. That was a mistake. For $12, these were the worst empanadas I've ever had. The menu described them as roasted potatoes, onion, & charred peppers. These empanadas had maybe 3-4 small diced potato pieces, a few small diced peppers and the rest was some beige mush filling. The shrimp taco was more sauce than anything. The haddock taco reeked as if the fish had gone bad, but the kitchen thought the sauce would hide the smell and served it anyway. She didn't send it back as we had to pay right after we placed the order.

Because it was late, we received great service, but what we were served was at the opposite end of the spectrum. I will find other options if ever in this...

This is a FANTASTIC place to host an event! I was interested in celebrating an event for my 30th birthday and Residency Match party. If you're looking for a cost effective, delicious food place with excellent, responsive staff seriously look no further! Mission Navy Yard exceeded my expectations. We did a "semi-private" event in the main bar downstairs which cost me $0 to reserve! The difference between the semi private and private events is the semi-private is more cost effective, and they block off the area with a rope. The staff did a fantastic job from the get-go; I simply put a request online in their contact section, and got a response within minutes. I worked with Dora and Mackenzie and did the cash bar and displayed apps option for about 30 guests. Food options were plentiful - we ordered the fish baha tacos, shrimp tacos, and empanadas and they were a hit! Hot, delicious, and the staff did an thoughtful job with the presentation. Even the bartender downstairs who took care of us was very patient and attentive! Everyone was a fan of Mission's classic margaritas. My family and friends had such a wonderful time for my event, and definitely recommend them if you want the planning, execution of your event to go seamlessly! I also was touched by the complimentary champagne they brought out for me! Without a doubt it was a fantastic experience--thank you so much Mission Navy Yard for making my celebration so memorable! :)

Mission Navy Yard is an offshoot of Mission Dupont by the Nationals Stadium. It's a huge space and beautifully decorated, my family and I were very kindly welcomed by security and the host on the second floor as the first floor was closed for a private event. We were hoping to sit outside on the second floor, but unfortunately all of it was first-come-first-serve so we sat at the bar. Our bartender was prudent and fast, we got our drinks quickly (a pitcher of margaritas). I would judge the pitcher a bit over priced but what isn't these days? We ordered chips and salsa and two tacos. The chips and salsa came out first. The chips were corn and definitely made in house but not in a way that was good. They were over fried and hard. The salsa was sweet and very spicy like a sweet chilli sauce. My brother squeezed some lime in it which helped but at the end of the day, it couldn't be saved. Our tacos came out, we had ordered one rockfish and one shrimp taco (we weren't that hungry yet!) They gave us a chicken tinga taco and the rockfish. The tacos came in a classic steel taco holder with one corn tortilla. Sauce and lettuce had been put at the bottom so both tacos were so soggy they were impossible to hold and completely came apart when picked up. Honestly - nothing here tasted good. It tasted weird and wack and for people who come from out of town to go to Nats games. The margs were good. I'd come for a happy hour still.
