Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Waukegan

Long Review Warning First time here, and I'm not impressed. 2 stars only because the Hawaiian chicken wrap was horribly made.👎 When I unwrapped it, it looked good, smelled okay, but also noticeably off. I hoped it tasted better than it looked, nope! The chicken tasted old or not very seasoned, I hope it was just my taste buds, but I don't know. The Hawaiian citrus salad was too strong on the onions and too soagy, probably old🤮. For my son, I could've, and will make sure I do from now on, made the cheddar and ham wrap my dang myself. The fried corn was gross. I hope the other things I ordered for later are better and will update then. The only plus side is the huge smoothie you get, but even that was weird because it was stringy, it tasted good though. It was the dragon fruit smoothie. They move a bit slow paced on the food, smoothies were made fast, I don't know if that is everyday, but don't chance your luck here for a quick bite if you're in a rush. The inside was not very clean also. Used menus everywhere, flithy tables, floors dirty, ESPECIALLY on their side of the floor. Gross factor goes up😬. Maybe they're under staffed or something else, but the more I write this review makes me less and less interested in another try. And to be quite honest, when this location first opened I wasn't interested because who can't make a smoothie?! If it wasn't for the coupons that literally just came in the mail yesterday, I would've only tried a smoothie today. The cool factor is, the menu options are things you can easily make at home, but if out of ingredients or don't feel like it, you can go there. That's it for now, until later. Terrible management!! On my way to work I placed an online order an (açaí bowl with mango). I picked up my acai bowl and when I got to work at Lake bluff, which is very close to the restaurant I opened it and when I started eating it the mango tasted awful, it was bad, I immediately called the restaurant and talk to Jesus, he told me that he could replace it with another bowl, I explained to him that I was already at work and that I couldn’t go back, so he told me that he was going to write down my information and I could just go there and tell them that I had a credit for a bowl, a week later I told my daughter if she could go and get me the bowl. The “manager” (a woman with dark brown hair) gave her an attitude and asked her for the receipt (I was NEVER told to save the receipt), when my daughter got home which is less than 5 minutes away from the restaurant I opened the bowl and it was all melted and the granola was all soggy, it looked like it was giving like that in purpose, I just didn’t want to deal with that person (manager), that’s why I’m writing this review so that someone who is truly professional and knows how to do their job do...

1/3 Man gang I’m here rn with my girl, idk why it’s taking so long to make my smoothie but I’ve left n came back 3 times. I left my girl here went n got Za next door, went to Jersey mikes got a drink, went outside and took a phone call and they STILL not done. They just gave us the drinks and they gave my girl the wrong drink lmao. Girls in there are sweet but somebody needa manage them a lil better. I could be shouting this place out but dang I can’t even recommend it to the guys.

2/3 update we went back and told them about the drink and the potatoes were cold btw. They offered to re make it, told them we didn’t have time, they’ve issued a refund. I think they handled the situation after the fact pretty good.

3/3 my gf never received the refund and then she went back and they basically said there was nothing they could do w/ out the receipt but they took the receipt when we had came back said it’d hit her acc 3-5 buisness days and never did. My girl went back there an they pretty much offered her nothing. We’ll never be back...
