This hotel is my home away from home while in Wausau! •LOCATION• The location is easily accessible right off the freeway and within minutes of major retailers such as Best Buy and Walmart. The hotel is surrounded by shops and offices that close in the early evening so it's very quiet but still within walking distance of restaurants such as Applebee's and Qdoba. •ROOMS• The rooms are what you would expect from a hotel at this price point. The beds are extremely comfortable as well as the pillows. A mini fridge and coffee maker are standard in every room (there is a microwave in their snack shop for guests to use) as well as a hairdryer, iron, ironing board, toiletries and a TV that includes cable and a couple HBO channels. There is an abundance of standard AC 3 prong outlets as well as USB A ports. Also a desk and chair and small closet. Most of the bathrooms consist of the typical stand-up showers though they do have rooms with bathtubs available. •Amenities• The hotel features a swimming pool as well as a hot tub. The hot tub is fantastic because the water is actually hot instead of bath water warm like I find in some hotels. They have a breakfast room for their complimentary hot breakfast in the morning. Their breakfast has a little bit of everything from cold cereal to make your own waffles, hot oatmeal with a nice selection of add-ins, and a rotating selection of breakfast meats, omelets, biscuits and gravy depending on the day. It's topped off with typical breakfast breads along with juice, milk and coffee. There's also a small lounge area adjacent to the breakfast room that even adorns a children's play table with coloring pages and crayons. •STAFF• The staff here is extremely hospitable! They're eager to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They go above and beyond to help fulfill any requests you might have. My Chromecast remote went dead on me one night and where was I going to find batteries at midnight. But I spoke to Brittany, I believe that's the young lady on third shift, and she was able to dig me up 2 AAA batteries to get me up and...
Read moreVery worth the stay. The hotel is modern-feeling, clean and well-kept. So was the room. While the room was a bit small, it had everything we needed. There was a nice little writing desk and an actual, enclosed closet, which isn't always the case in a room like this. Comfortable bed and a pretty big TV. The service is really where this property shines. The staff were gracious, respectful, professional, kind and friendly. We were able to check in early with no hassle or extra charges. There were checkers and other games in the lobby for passing the time. There was a beverage station in the lobby at all hours and happy hour cookies! The continental breakfast was tasty with a lot of options and the staff member working it (I didn't catch her name) was incredibly friendly. She offered us leftover cookies as the breakfast shift was ending! There was a nice little market in the lobby in case you needed a snack, medicine or other travel necessities. I felt like this property really went above-and-beyond to...
Read moreThe room was nice & clean. The bathroom was immaculate, maybe the cleanest hotel bathroom I have ever seen. The breakfast was plentiful & tasty. The staff was all smiles & very kind. My daughters were pleased with the pool & thought it was clean. All these are not enough to bring me back. I was unimpressed with the mattress. As new and modern as this hotel seemed to be, the mattress was reminiscent of the cheap mattresses you find on a hotel from 20 years ago. My biggest complaint was the noise from the footsteps in the room above us. I do not think they were stomping, yet I was still able to track their movements back and forth across their room all night. The construction of the hotel made these steps BOOM with each footfall. My review should not reflect on any staff or service within the hotel, just on Hampton's choices for construction & furnishing...
