La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Wausau — Hotel in Wausau

We called for reservations day of - the person who answered noted that their price was $200+ for the night. I noted that going through various online booking services gave about $140 and he said that he knew, but I had to go through them to get it. So I did and it was a standard hotel room with an average to low average morning breakfast. I am so old I think $140 is a lot for a bed for one night, but this was clean, the front desk clerk was businesslike if not friendly and we had no problems to report. I would stay again under similar circumstances, but I do miss having a little bit of local variety - maybe something like a Wausau bakery supplying some donuts, or a Wausau coffee roaster supplying the coffee. |I remember stopping in a station wagon with my 4 siblings if there was a vacancy sign. Mom would check the rooms available for cleanliness, then we would pile in, if it passed. Celebration by the kids if it had a pool. There was never an indoor pool except once when we stopped a Holiday Inn. Maybe if we had been willing to pay more...

Quick issues: •Ava was terrible and rude (front desk) •Hot tub and pool were closed •Bugs in our room •Ran out of milk both days at breakfast

The front desk person was rude and checked us in before we knew the hot tub was closed. When we asked if we can cancel because we booked only for the hot tub they said we couldn’t because we were “checked in” we haven’t left the lobby yet. They lied and tried to say that since I booked with a third party app I had to contact them for a refund and when I did the app said I could get a refund they just needed to call the hotel to get the ok. After they got back to me they stated the hotel wouldn’t not give a refund so AVA at the front desk lied. Terrible experience with the terrible “customer service” I come skiing a lot in Wausau and wanted to try a more expensive place for my special trip and now me and everyone I know will stay far away...

Great hotel if you're looking for convenience of location and a clean, comfortable and quiet room. The value for the price was excellent. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff. The check in process was fast and we got the exact type of room we had reserved. Although this property is obviously an older building, everything appeared to be well maintained. The room had newer carpeting, and the bed and bedding provided a comfortable nights sleep. There was complimentary breakfast in the morning which was well stocked with fresh items and very clean. The kitchen staff even made fresh waffles for the guests and brought them to your table. The pool area was small but clean and well maintained. Overall a very nice...
