Chop-Stix Bourbon BBQ & Sushi — Restaurant in Wausau

Stayed at the hotel nearby and didn’t want to go too far to eat. Got the beef and chicken bourbon combo. Was offered some hot sauce, which looked like chili flakes in oil, so asked for two to go.

The good: They had some chicken that was cooked already (probably the most commonly ordered item) so they just had to heat it up on the flat top. The beef was cooked fresh. Both were still hot though for the few minutes that I had to drive back to the hotel (in 20F weather). The portion was very good. Probably big enough for an adult and a child or a very hungry adult.

Mixed results The chili oil turned out to be not very spicy at all. It looks like the traditional Asian hot chili oil with actual chili flakes inside. However, it was not spicy even when I put both tubs on the food.

I also think they use too much oil to cook the beef. It was swimming in oil at the bottom of the container. There was so much oil that the rice couldn’t even pick it all up.

Overall, I think it is an okay place to get some decent food and a good portion size. Would be better if the food didn’t have...

A meal, most satisfying, I have discovered at Chop-Stix Bourbon BBQ & Sushi. Ordered, I did, the Bourbon Chicken & Shrimp with Lo Mein—a dish of great value at only 9.49 credits. Generous in portion, rich in flavor, it was. The balance of sweet bourbon glaze and tender shrimp, most harmonious it proved to be.

Tested further was my palate with a Philadelphia Roll. Smooth was the cream cheese, fresh was the salmon, and well-constructed the roll remained. Strong in sushi craftsmanship, they are.

Service, though counter-based, was swift and efficient. Kind, the staff were. Felt, was the warmth of hospitality.

Quickly prepared, the food was—yet rushed, it did not seem. When hunger strikes like a Sith Lord in the night, know this: Chop-Stix answers the call with speed and skill.

I always love going here ...never had an issue until tonight ..I asked for sweet and sour... I asked the lady is it in the bag she said yes... Drive all the way home and there's no sweet and sour so I drove all the way back just a grab it... Went through the drive-thru she gave me two cups drove away a little bit and noticed that there were pepper seeds at the bottom that's not sweet and sour so I went in and asked for a sweet and sour and the lady that gave me the two cups said that she already gave and I told her that there was pepper seeds as a bottom she just laughed at me so she gave me another sweet and sour which was right finally and went to my car grabbed the two cups that she previously gave to me to show her that there were pepper seeds at the bottom and she goes and laughed at me again so...
