I stayed here for a business trip, and I would never have stayed here if I could have chosen my hotel. The saving graces of this place are the saltwater pool and the customer service at the front desk. The pool and the pool deck are very clean and you can get poolside service, which was great. Everything else was strange and pretty rough. First things first, everyone has their own tastes so I'm not going to bash the decor. It's just pretty cheesy and tacky in my opinion. The room I stayed in was quite small, and if I was staying with another person there would have been no room at all to move around. I barely had counter space in the bathroom for my few hair supplies and lotion/toothpaste/toothbrush. The room had poor lighting, and if I wanted it brighter I needed to open the curtains so the whole sunset strip could see me change. Yikes. First thing I did upon getting to my room was use the bathroom. I opened the lid to the toilet, and there was already toilet paper in there and some hair on the floor. The towels were set on a shelf under the sink next to exposed pipe. I went to look at the bed and I had no blanket, just white sheets. Talking to others in the hotel, the blankets available were fake fur, which made me shiver at the thought of how much harder those are to clean rather than regular linen blankets. I decided to forgo that option and went immediately to Target to buy a cheap blanket, towel, pillowcase, and flip flops for the shower. That's $60 I shouldn't have had to spend for the room rates they charge here. Others in my group staying there had a couch in their rooms or at least a chair with back support, but all I had in my room was a strange velvet stool at the desk, and a pink velvet chair that you could not sit up straight in. I stayed on the fourth floor, so I was next to the "business center", which was two desktop computers you could use for one hour at a time before it locked you out. Even the chairs there were incredibly impractical. They were what looked like dining room boutique chairs, but they were so low in comparison to the height of the desks that I had to sit on my knees like a child to properly reach the keyboard. I just don't understand why at least the 'professional' section of this place can't just have a simple office chair. Overall, for these rates, absolutely go somewhere else, especially if you like something a bit cleaner and modern. Weekdays are quiet at night, but during Friday nights and weekends it's crazy loud in the lobby and it radiates through the whole hotel. Lucky for me that I brought earplugs to get some decent sleep before my flight the next morning. The best word I can think of to describe staying...
Read moreI recently stayed at The Grafton. Let me start out by saying that my fiancé and I plus several of my friends love staying at your hotels. We frequently stay-cation at The Grafton and Chamberlain and love the atmospheres. The reason I am writing this is because I am so upset about the way a situation was handled after we stayed at Grafton on the 20th of December. We only stayed one evening to make it easier to go to a local holiday party. I left my coat in our room after we had checked out. I know that the coat was left behind by my mistake, but trying to retrieve it from the hotel afterwards has been awful. I called a couple days later, but was told that I had to wait till after the holiday to speak to the housekeeping manager. I asked to speak to the manager on duty and was told that they wouldn’t do anything and that I would have to wait. I understand it was Christmas, so I didn’t make a big deal about it. However, I called on the 26th and still the manager wasn’t available, nor was she available the 27th. Still when I asked if this was something a manager on duty could help me with, they refused to let me speak to someone. On the 28th, I called in the morning and I was given the runaround that the housekeeping manager would call me back twice to no avail. I then was told she had stepped out and finally about 3:30 in the afternoon I called and finally was able to speak to her and she said nothing was turned in and hung up on me. I know the jacket was there. There is a pic of me wearing it while walking into the hotel the night before we checked out and my fiancé said he saw it on the couch in the morning and even made a mental note that it blended in with the sheet that was also on the couch. He had gone to get the car while I had carried everything out afterwards and must have missed it. I am so sad that I cannot replace the coat. It was bought two years ago and no longer available. I really feel that if someone in the hotel staff could have helped me immediately, it could have been recovered. I understand that you can’t fix this, but how can I return to a hotel company that would let their employees treat...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel 7 nights. The room was nice. Good bed, tv, closet, filled fridge, a small terrace (if I can call it that) and cool decor. The room was very up-to-date. Big enough shower to fit two people - as this was a trip to be with my loved one. The location of the hotel has it all! -Starbucks 300 m down the street for a morning coffee. -A lot of restaurants right by the hotel. A great nail salon (Paris 1 Nails) 200 m from the hotel. Good shopping if you continue down the street. Veggie grill for the vegans 15 minutes of walking down the street. Very friendly and helping staff. The restaurant "Oliver's Prime" is the hotel's neighbor and had amazing food!
We never tried the hotel's pool- but it was definitely popular!
What we didn't know (and was a downside) there was a very high deposit when we arrived ($500). But it was okey. The other neighbor of this hotel is a construction area. Our room was the nearest window to this area. It woke us up every morning around 6 am. VERY loud. A lot of men screaming instructions to each other. Enormous machines BEEPing all day while moving dirt and digging. Very thin walls. We could hear people walking on the floor above us. We could clearly hear people in the next room talking. Other people's tv. Our neighbor when ever he entered his closet and moved around things. Dogs. Our neighbor across the hall had not one, but TWO dogs locked up in the room as the owner was out of the room. The dogs were barking for 3 hours (before I left the hotel and when I came back). I understood after a while they were left alone, so on my way out the door to let the manager know, two very nice staff members was already standing out side the room and knocking to check if anyone was in the hotel room. There was no one except the dogs there. They locked themselves in and petted the dogs trying to calm them down. I was so glad they came down to check if the dogs were ok. Very sad for the dogs to be left alone and very annoying for the neighbors having to listen to them barking...
