Best Western Plus
Sunset WeHo
Dear Sir Fred Gholizadeh
My Name is Spartak Fikaj On 11/10/2017 I began my stay at your hotel for 7nights in room number 111. Since I’m renovating the house I need a week of your accommodation . As I mentioned to your receptionist at the time, the accommodation was unsatisfactory in the following ways
I was assigned a double room with 2beds, but I’m only one person
When I called and asked to be moved to another room, I was told that this was not possible; at the time, but if I called back in 1h that some room may free up and I could be upgraded to a better room with one bed. of course given for the money that I payed I was aspecting quality
That was not provided with reasonable care and skill because
Upon entering the room, my room had a cigaret smell and I’m also a smoker and was still able to smell it, than the tiles in the bathroom are broken with a huge crack that if you were to walk barefoot you would get a cut. than the sink in the washroom is tilted and leaning towards me and all the water from the top of the sink slides down on the broken tiles on the ground, on the second day I could not take a shower cause the hotel had no water for 1h, and then once the water was back in service, the shower water was cold, the fridge is inside a cabinet but not standing on the cabinet itself , but is on the floor and its all exposed and visible even when the cabinet doors are closed, meanwhile the reason for the cabinet is to keep the noise level down, but in this case the noise is echoed by the opening at the bottom the the cabinet. My drawers are ripped out and there is a note there that said I will be replaced , but I’m here 1 week and its still not replaced and I’m embarrassed to have my friends pick me up from my room cause i don’t want them to see this catastrophe called room. and just outside my door there is a large plant that it has a colony of poisoned mushrooms And to top it all and the most important thing to me , my health is being compromised while in your hotel , the room is full of dust this dust is been accumulating for years from the air conditioner filter to the curtains to the top of the tv even over my headboard had inches of dust so unsanitary and health hazard , this is the reason I left my home cause my health can not handle all this dust from the construction that I’m having but here is infested in dust
Please see attached photo and video evidence of this unhealthy room a health hazard
It was an implied term of our contract that the accommodation provided would be of a standard of cleanliness and quality reasonably to be expected from this type and price of hotel.
It's also an implied term that the service provided would be done so with reasonable care and skill as required by the [Supply of Goods and Services Act / Consumer Rights Act].
Therefore, this is in breach of contract.
I require your response to this letter, in case of no response I will contact Mr Peter Kwong at the Board of Directors

Read moreI'm a Best Western Rewards Member and I've stayed in Best Westerns all over, from California to the beautiful Best Western Hotel Moderno Verdi in Genoa, Italy. We can always count on the hotel to be clean and the bed to be comfortable. The same quality was here at the Sunset Plaza Hotel. It was clean and the bed was comfortable as usual but they failed us on a few things. We stayed at the hotel during the Superbowl and it was packed! We usually get a suite but even with booking months in advance we weren't able to secure one, at no fault of the hotel. We had a small room by the pool which was very pretty with a great bathroom but the room was a bit cramped, perfect for a weekend stay, not great for a week. The air conditioning in the room was horrible, which was unfortunate as it was a hot week. It worked when it felt like it and the rumble it made was so loud at first we thought it was a car in the underground garage below us with some insane base, but no it was just the A/C! The noise from the surrounding rooms was unbearable, like elephants playing soccer above us at 3am and the party next door was a bit much. We get it, it's Superbowl weekend and people are there to have fun, as were we, but we also needed some sleep and the sound proofing just wasn't there. Trying to play tourist after multiple nights with no sleep was extremely difficult. When I initially made this reservation, I called in to ensure we were on the top floor so we wouldn't be disturbed with stomping feet in the morning. I was assured this would be put in the notes for the hotel and it's also on our rewards file. Unfortunately when we go there they couldn't accommodate this. We were incredibly disappointed as this was the first time in many years a Best Western wasn't able to accommodate us. We met a very well dressed man in the elevator who we assume was the owner or manager and he asked us how our stay was, we told him we were like zombies because of our lack of sleep. He was very sincere in his apologies and went to the front desk and told them to take X amount off our bill. We felt heard and walked away feeling a bit better. After check out we got an email of our bill and to our surprise nothing off the bill. Now we didn't ask for anything to be taken off, so when it's offered and there's no follow through it's beyond disappointing as we felt that we were lied to basically to shut us up. My last issue is, we were told when we checked in that because of our length of stay someone from housekeeping would be in at some point. Unfortunately that didn't happen. I asked after 5 days if someone could change the towels at least and no one came. I want to believe this is not the level that they're normally at and because of the number of guests, they were overwhelmed, but one would think they would have the routine down by now. All I can say is this is not what we expect from a Best Western. 3 stars for cleanliness, comfort of bed and beautiful...
Read moreWe stayed at The Best Western Plus on Sunset for a fortnight not just a night or two. The hotel is very clean with a Vintage Hollywood vibe.|The staff were very pleasant and helpful and there was always someone on reception.|As three adults, we stayed in a Queen room. Beds were very comfortable and the room was huge, far bigger than other US hotel rooms. The bathroom was also spacey with a walk in shower. Air conditioning was good. We also had a lovely view over the pool. As is normal with American hotels, we had to request housekeeping which we did every 3 days. It was always completed quickly and to a high standard. ||The pool itself was very pretty and never had more than 2-3 people using it so we enjoyed it quite a few times.||Breakfast is busy but not once did we have to eat by the pool or in our room. Usually by the time we had picked our breakfast items, a table had become free. Breakfast is excellent value with a, wide choice of food including cereal, yogurts, bakery items (bread, pastries, muffins, crumpets) cooked food (egg, sausage, ham etc), fruit and waffles made to order. Also juice and tea /coffee available. Self service. The paper plates and cutlery were fine to use but I noticed china plates available too.||We used the laundry which was spotless. We never encountered anybody else using it. I think it cost around 10 dollars for powder and the washer and dryer. Well worth it.||The hotel is situated in a great spot with lots of restaurants on the doorstep. We recommend Saddle Ranch (directly opposite) Carneys, ( a couple of minutes walk away) Joe's Pizza (a couple of minutes in the other direction) , Mel's Diner and of course, the amazing Rainbow Bar and Grill. If you can get to an In N Out burger a short taxi ride away we 100% recommend it. They are absolutely a cut above McDonald's etc.||There is a shop called The Pink Dot about five minutes walk away. It is open late and sells everything from snacks and toiletries to hot food. There is also a cvs (2 in fact ) and other shops a short walk further up Sunset or a steep walk down LA Cienega. It's very safe in WeHo. ||We used Uber or Lyft to get around which is expected as you can't walk to any attractions in LA. A great reliable, safe service and well worth the money for comfort and security. Lots of fantastic places we could recommend but definitely visit The Observatory, Santa Monica/Venice and Hermosa Beach. It's a beautiful area The Magic and Comedy Club there is brilliant but you must book in advance. We saw Jay Leno who was great.|Also book Jonny Dams Rock and Walk Tour, you...
