I never take time off work, so I decided to take a staycation due to burn out. booked 2 nights because my partner thought it looked relaxing and amazing from their website. I’ve never paid this much for a room, it ended up being $1200 for 2 nights, I told myself it’ll be worth it. We requested early check in, so we arrived at 2 they sent us up to our room and it was the wrong room. I paid extra to have a skyline view and bath tub, so we came back down and the front desk questioned if I had mentioned a tub in the booking notes - I let her know I wrote it in 2 out of the 3 note options I was given. She had us wait in the lobby as she didn’t want us to occupy or use the other room while we waited. Me, my partner, and my dog sat in the lobby for 2 hours in our sweatpants with no eta, I had a 5:30 (there were no other times open) dinner reservation at their rooftop, I’m sitting in the lobby in sweatpants and a rainbow leash and dog.. knowing they have a dress code. We asked the manager guy if our room would be ready soon for dinner… he had no idea but said we have special permission to go to the dinner looking the way we did and with our dog because he “called it in” and said “if anyone asks, just say he’s a service animal”… It’s 5:30 and we still don’t have a room, so we embarrassingly walked over to the host to let us into the elevator to go to the rooftop and she looked at us up and down “we have a strict dresscode” we asked if anyone had called and she said no, but let us up. We got up to the rooftop and it was the oddest welcome, most of the serving staff and host were standing around towards the elevator and once we landed they all just stared at us (probably because of our clothes and dog) we introduced ourselves and the situation - and with a stank face the host got us a table after a lot of struggle finding one on the screen - even though the place was practically empty besides older folks in shorts and Hawaiian shirts at the bar… Not to mention the female serving staff is required to wear shirt dresses that are so short they have to wear booty shorts under - I only mention this because of the “dresscode”. The ambiance was weird - Tuscany decor and lil Jon blasting. We hoped our room was ready, manager guy was gone - a new lady is there and has no idea what we’re talking about 15 mins she comes back and says we have a room! Don’t be fooled by the photos - the furniture in the room looks like they bought it off a closing sale of a rustic motel. Does not fit the “modern organic industrial” vibe they sell online but who cares, right?
My partners dad calls to see how our staycation is going, he hears about our experience and says he wanted to send something up to cheer us up, this was around 6:00. At around 7:30 he asks if we like it - told him we didn’t receive it, he calls us back and says the hotel will have it over no later than 8:30.. 8:30 he calls back and we still haven’t gotten it. We call front desk and it’s the manager guy, I told him the situation and also that I did not get my welcome rosè that I paid for a part of my room package. He yelled at me and said “OKAY I ALREADY TOLD THE KITCHEN they’re cooking it up right now” I replied “oh.. do you know what time?” He says “okay fine you want me to go to the kitchen myself and tell them again?! Would you like that?!” I let him know we’re not trying to be difficult and he hangs up on us. The “surprise” gets here at 10pm, Prosecco and cold cookies.. that’s what they cooked up. Next morning I get a survey and Andrea calls me- I tell her blah blah and she offers to put us in a loft out last day- we get there and the room is worse and towards the street and our neighbors screamed almost all day and we were next to the housekeeping closet so lots of noise- dog was not happy. We get woken up at 7am from pots and pans banging - the strike starts. Well, a month later I find out they charged MY card for the gift someone else outside the hotel sent up.. had to argue with 2 receptionists to get Andrea to call me back. I want a refund for my stay...
Read moreI really wanted to like The Jeremy. I booked it for 2 nights for my significant other's 40th birthday (since his name is Jeremy). I asked for a high floor with a great view when booking directly thru the hotel's site. When we arrived we pulled up only to realize that you have to drive down to valet/hotel entrance check in. We drove down but there was no valet to greet us. There were 2 look alike guys ready to hold the door open for us. We asked about parking and they looked confused. Eventually a tall man emerged from somewhere directing a valet to give us a ticket, take our bags out of the car. It's like the valet didn't know how to valet! None of the people were identifiable as hotel employees- all in plain clothes no name badges. Just the bobsy twin boys holding the door. We were greeted by Rico to check in. Again, plain clothes. He ran my card and said it was declined. I was shocked. I quickly logged in and he said he ran it for $900+ but our stay was merely $550, which I thought was already charged. I found out our previous hotel ran my card 4x for our 4 night stay thus using up most of my available credit. When I questioned why he was charging $900 he indicated there was $150 a night incidental charge. Seems a little steep to me... They ran my card for the $550 stay and then we put the incidental hold on another card. He was pleasant about the situation even though it was not my fault and gave us our room key on the 3rd floor- so much for high floor! We got to our room which was industrial chic with mixed metals in the bathroom. We pulled back the curtain to find we literally overlooked the pool. Like I could almost step on the deck. Not 5 minutes into looking around, we received a knock on the door from a hotel employee? Couldn't tell because he wasn't identifiable AGAIN questioning if we just checked in because he showed the room as vacant. Really?!? Another negative was the room was not thoroughly cleaned, as we spotted a pack of cigarettes on top of the armoire. As other reviewers stated the bed was big but they had huge lumpy king sized pillows and negative thread count sheets. It wasn't luxury at all. The shower was nice but the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided had a weird smell. See photo for brand but I would recommend you bring your own if you stay here if you want to smell nice. We attempted to use the business center to print out something- unfortunately the printer was not working. However, the front desk printed it for me. Again, not quality that one would expect at this price point. However the biggest FAIL was their text message system. I received a welcome text upon checking in. I was told to text if I needed anything. For example, if I needed my car, text "Valet". I did this and received no reply and car was not ready ever. It was easier to walk downstairs and wait, try to identify an employee that was retrieving cars. This place was dead inside and out. Employees were non existent and there were major service issues. Save your $$$$ and...
Read moreWe were in town for one night to shop for engagement rings, and staying at the 1 Hotel completely ruined our experience.
Pros: Cool decor Big rooms Blackout shades - very effective! Oftentimes, there will be gaps between the shades and the wall where light peaks through, but these were great. Quiet rooms: I was put in a room directly next to the elevator despite explicitly asking to be in a room away from the elevators, but I was impressed by the sound insolation, both from the street noise and the elevators. The guy who delivered extra pillows to our room was the only friendly employee we encountered
Cons:
Front desk woman - never greeted us with a single smile or any feeling of warmth, even when we told her we were in town to shop for engagement rings.
Room accommodations - We requested a quiet room away from the elevators, and they put us in a room directly next to the elevators.
Shower - there were multiple strands of hair on our shower wall
Service - We had lunch in the lobby before going engagement ring shopping and WOW was it a mistake. Our waiter was completely clueless, and never smiled or made us feel welcome. He acted bored and disinterested the entire time. We were already halfway through our meal by the time our cocktails came out.
Cocktails - I've never sent back anything in my entire life, but the cocktails were so bad, my partner and I had to send them back. We both ordered tequila cocktails and there was clearly an issue with the mixers because it was like drinking tequila and spicy water. They were the worst cocktails we've ever had, and it took the bartender 25 minutes to make them. The waiter took the cocktails off our bill but never offered a complimentary drink.
Air conditioning - it barely works. We kept it running on 66 degrees (the lowest it goes) the entire time, and my partner and I had to sleep on top of the sheets. It was brutal and I barely slept. It's extra hot in the bathrooms.
No late check out - ALL we wanted to make the stay worth it was to hang out at the pool. We called in advance and checked in with multiple front desk associates, who said there were 4 spots left for late checkout and we should set our alarms to call at 7am to grab a spot. I called at 6:45am and they said all the spots were taken. We did not have an opportunity to go to the pool because we wouldn't have had time to shower and pack before check out. We told several people that were were having a real bummer of a stay and no one apologized or offered anything to us. It was pretty weird.
Valet - on our way home, defeated and disappointed, we called valet to have our car ready because they usually take a long time. 20 mins later, still no car. They told us they forgot. Awesome.
Overall, it's a nice hotel but the drinks and service are what I'd expect at a 3-star. Shockingly bad. Maybe it was just a bad day but I'm not going to go back...
