A Disappointing Stay at a Once-Promising Hotel|There was a time when this property might have embodied luxury—when thoughtful design, attentive service, and attention to detail were the norm rather than the exception. Unfortunately, that time has passed.|Let’s start with what works: the rooms are generously sized, and several members of the staff were warm and helpful. But that’s about where the hospitality ends.|Upon arrival, I asked the concierge to recommend a vegan or Middle Eastern restaurant nearby—both reliable options for plant-based cuisine. He suggested a Persian restaurant ten miles away and offered no follow-up: no address, no reservation, no interest. Never mind that multiple vegan restaurants were located within a two-mile radius.|The furnishings in the room felt more institutional than indulgent—wrapped in an uncomfortable, heavy-duty fabric that recalled airport lounge seating from the early '90s. I found myself retreating to the bed simply because there was nowhere else inviting to sit. The mini bar was sparsely stocked with candy bars. Not quite what one expects at this price point.|The most troubling issues, though, were related to housekeeping and upkeep. By late afternoon on our first day, our room remained untouched. I called for service—no response. Only later was it mentioned, in passing, that rooms are only cleaned every other day. It would have been helpful to know this policy in advance, particularly before we needed clean towels.|Our first room hadn’t been cleaned from the previous guest—dirty coffee service was still out. We were moved, but the replacement room lacked the tub we requested and was described as an “upgrade.” It wasn’t. The bathroom in our final room showed signs of wear: hard water stains on the counter, poorly patched walls, and an outdated hair dryer that felt more decorative than functional.|Even small amenities reflected the broader issue. A single half-ounce tub of moisturizer was never replaced. There were no extra rolls of toilet paper in the room. These are basic, expected comforts—yet they were noticeably absent.|The daily breakfast, billed as a complimentary amenity, was basic at best: store-bought bagels, under-ripe fruit, and boxed cereals. At checkout, we were charged a $30 “amenity fee” covering this breakfast and a handful of vague inclusions. When we questioned it, the front desk staff was quick to point out where it was listed online—though other policies, like the alternate-day housekeeping, were nowhere to be found.|This hotel, once shaped by a thoughtful David Collins design, now feels like a shadow of its former self. Poorly conceived renovations have stripped the space of its original identity. What remains is a property charging five-star prices without delivering the service, style, or experience to match.|In a city with no shortage of luxury accommodations, travelers deserve better. Until this hotel rediscovers its sense of pride and place, I’d recommend...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at the London West Hollywood Hotel in Beverly Hills for over a week, and I must say it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. From the moment we stepped into the hotel, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality by the staff, which set the tone for our entire stay.
The level of friendliness exhibited by the hotel staff was truly exceptional. They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction throughout our stay. From providing helpful recommendations for local attractions to assisting with any inquiries we had, their attentiveness made us feel valued and well taken care of.
One of the most delightful surprises during our stay was when the staff learned that my wife and I were celebrating our birthdays. Early in the morning on our special days, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a thoughtful gift of wine and delicious cakes, accompanied by a heartfelt card. It was a wonderful gesture that made us feel incredibly special and added an extra touch of magic to our stay.
The London West Hollywood Hotel exudes an elegant and sophisticated ambiance that perfectly captures the essence of West Hollywood. The rooms were tastefully decorated, spacious, and impeccably clean, providing a luxurious retreat after a long day of exploring the city. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of our accommodation, from the plush bedding to the modern amenities.
The location of the hotel was ideal for those looking to experience the vibrant energy of West Hollywood. With its proximity to popular attractions and renowned restaurants, we found ourselves immersed in the heart of the city's cultural and entertainment scene. Yet, despite its central location, the hotel provided a tranquil oasis, allowing us to relax and unwind after a day of excitement.
In addition to the exceptional service and comfortable accommodations, the hotel boasted an array of impressive amenities. Unfortunately, the weather does not allow us to take advantage of the rooftop pool, which offered breathtaking views of the city skyline. the fitness center was well-equipped and maintained. The hotel's dining options also exceeded our expectations, with delicious cuisine and a wide selection of beverages to satisfy even the most discerning palate.
In conclusion, I highly recommend the London West Hollywood Hotel to anyone seeking a remarkable stay in West Hollywood. The exceptional friendliness of the staff, coupled with the unforgettable surprise on our birthdays, made our experience truly memorable. Whether you're visiting Los Angeles for business or leisure, this hotel is a haven of luxury, comfort, and genuine hospitality. I look forward to returning to this remarkable establishment in the future.
Thank you, London West Hollywood Hotel, for making our stay truly...
Read moreMy husband and I chose to celebrate our honeymoon at the London because we wanted to indulge ourselves at a 5-star hotel for four nights; however, our stay was a big let-down. Unfortunately, for a hotel room that cost us over $500 a night, the surprisingly poor level of service dashed any positive experiences. We recommend enjoying your stay in West Hollywood elsewhere.
The disappointing tone of our experience was set immediately once our taxi dropped us off at the hotel. The vehicle attendants / bellmen talked among themselves and did not address us, did not welcome us, and, most annoyingly, did not offer any help with our several bags and suits as we entered the lobby fully encumbered.
The lackluster service continued at the front desk where the representative barely looked up from her computer to address us as she checked us in. When I asked if I could have a cart to hang our bags, she seemed confused by the request but eventually took the bags to be hung on a hook behind her. While still only looking at the screen during check-in, she un-enthusiastically said, "I see it's your honeymoon." Upon hearing this, another representative suggested a room upgrade. So, still looking at her screen, she did so. My husband and I were thrilled to receive this upgrade, but her insincere presentation dampened any excitement.
Our terrible experience with service continued in our room. To celebrate our honeymoon, my husband and I decided to pop open a bottle of champagne and have some left-over wedding cake. We called the front desk to request forks for the room, and the person responded with a long pause followed, "Um. We're really busy right now. I don't know. I'll see what I can do." We were very confused by that response and ended up eating the cake with our fingers!
Otherwise, the location is central for many West Hollywood / Hollywood / Beverly Hills excursions, and our room had nice views. We stayed in a Crowne Suite. All rooms at the hotel are the same and the only difference is the level where the room is located. Our room was spacious with a balcony. The bed is large and comfortable, and there is plenty of storage space all throughout the room. The bathroom and shower and tub are spacious. (The shower is probably the nicest part of the hotel room.) In all, the furnishings looked tired with large dents and scratches on the coffee table and some surprising lack of attention to detail to some aspects, such as unfinished drywall at some places and an unfinished hole in the wall for the air vent. The room includes a small bar area with a sink and refrigerator. However, the refrigerator is full of for-sale items with no space for personal items.
Ultimately, our stay at the London was not at all what we expect from a luxury 5-star hotel; and it truly dampened...
