Do you like being electrocuted?
The Chamberlain is the worst hotel I have ever visited and that says a lot. Would prefer to give 0 stars. This is my 2nd time there (company trip - not my selection) - and wow. Literally the worst service I have ever experienced - twice!
My first day in my room - there’s no natural light hardly, and 1 lamp that doesn’t work. I call the front desk and ask for a repairman to bring a lightbulb - 20 minutes later still no one - so I called again - 20 minutes more and still no one. My coworker had to pack to leave. We get the lamp to turn on but it literally EXPLODES in my hand!!!!! I get electrocuted / shocked! (See Pic) - my coworker is horrified and asks if we should go to hospital. Frankly I’m in actual shock. I go downstairs to ask where the repairman is they said “oh he’s coming” - I show them my hand and said well your lamp exploded in my hand while we were waiting on him. They’re mildly worried and offer burn cream. I say I think you should give me another room with natural light and I need your managers info.
Got a new room. Don’t worry no one offered to help me move my luggage with my burned hand though.
The next day I was called by the manager “John” - who was initially upset but when I described the incident as well as my previous stay - he was horrified. He offered me an upgrade and to comp the room - which I said meant nothing to me as it is paid for by my company. (Important for later) John stated how they usual hear such positive customer service reviews.
I said I would see a doctor and keep him updated.
The next day my hand felt numb and in between work appointments I went to a doctor in Beverly Hills who said it’s possible there is nerve damage.
I sent the copay bill to manager. The desk man paid me back in 1 dollar bills and asked me to sign an empty form to which I refused until they filled it out and gave me a copy. Pretty incredible! Let me just sign my life away.
Next day I left to work on a 12 hour job and came back to my room uncleaned. Sent pics to manager at 10:30pm (apologized for sending late) - he responded in suprise and said how embarrassed he was etc.
Next day room was actually clean. Went to check out the final day, and suprised my room had not been comped at all! Refused to pay full amount.
Wrote manager -
“Hi John. Checking out. Refused at desk to pay for the day the lamp exploded in my hand. Lol. You guys really are something else. Just because I said that comping me the room doesn’t actually mean anything to me personally as it’s a business trip....... doesn’t really mean my company should pay for that. Wow. “
He responded -
“With all due respect I asked and you told me no. I will comp the entire stay as I want to be sure you are taken care of. “
I responded -
“With all due respect. Good customer service should tell you not to charge someone for a room that literally sent me to the doctor. As I stated above the comp means nothing to me personally as it is a company trip, but actually expecting my company to pay for me possibly almost dying is comical.
Would expect nothing less from the Chamberlain though.”

Read moreValet was absolutely amazing. I was in and out a lot within my first few hours of checking in and they were incredibly helpful with making sure I got out at good times and didn't hit traffic for where I mentioned I was going. A room change was also involved and they got my things moved to the right place before I even got there. The main setback for my stay being amazing was that my original room (a king suite) had bugs. The woman who helped me at the desk kind of laughed a bit when I came down right after checking in to tell her because I'd started out with the spider in my bathroom and then took me seriously when I showed her the picture of the other critter that came with what seemed to be over 12 legs (according to some web searches, it ate spiders which explains the presence of both it and the spiders). The balcony was touched by quite a few trees so I'm guessing everything must've gotten in while the room was being cleaned and fumes aired out before my arrival. I was moved to a second room that was a bit smaller but that wasn't explained so I'm not sure if the same version of the room I had was completely booked or what. I didn't bother asking because I didn't see my new room until I was back from picking up the friend staying with me at the airport and by then it was late and it didn't seem worth it to question. Aside from the second room being smaller, there was also really low lighting in the bathroom due to one light being completely out and another about to die. Also when I checked out, a different woman told me about a fee the first hadn't ever mentioned. Thankfully she waived it after I explained she must have forgotten about the fee while dealing with the bug situation, but the only staff that remained completely pleasant and helpful had to be valet. While all experiences at the desk ended with the reasons I was there getting done, they weren't as courteous as other staff. In no way did I expect them to be too friendly or even enthusiastic, but in the bug situation as well as the hidden fee at checkout, their attitudes made me feel that I was in the wrong for saying something. The rooms' wall unit A/Cs are at the top of the wall instead of down low like most hotels so being less than what most would consider tall, a chair is required to adjust it to higher than below freezing. Other than that, it was a beautiful hotel. I wish I'd had more time to spend at the pool because it has a great view...
Read morewe recently stayed at the chamberlain in weho and overall had a really lovely experience!
the moment we walked in, the lobby decor caught my eye—absolutely beautiful. we were upgraded to the residential suite (thanks costco!) and i was so pleasantly surprised. the suite itself was spacious and modern with a separate living room and kitchenette area. everything felt very clean, and having a tv in both the living and sleeping areas was super convenient. honestly, the bed and bedding were so comfortable i could've spent all day in them. the bath amenities were also a highlight—they smelled amazing and were really moisturizing.
the customer service was wonderful from start to finish. everyone from the front desk to the bellboys and valets was friendly and accommodating. they helped us receive a package during our stay and always had our car ready each morning for our adventures. the location is perfect too—close enough to the sunset strip and great restaurants, but far enough from downtown LA that it felt like a nice escape. the rooftop pool was warm with lovely views, though it did get a bit chilly at night when we visited.
a few small things to note: while the suite was spacious, the bathroom felt quite small for what i expected from a suite. there was absolutely no view from our suite, just a tall grey wall. housekeeping only comes once per stay, so during our four days we didn't have service. if you need fresh towels or your bins emptied, you have to request it from the front desk. when someone did come to empty our bins, they were on the phone the entire time, which felt a little off. also, the pool hours seemed inconsistent—posted as closing at 10:30 pm, but staff asked us to leave at 10:00 pm even after we clarified. the complimentary water, coffee, and supplies also weren't replenished daily since housekeeping doesn't come by.
despite those minor hiccups, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider...
