First time here and it wasn’t bad. But wasn’t spectacular either. I do recommend, but there is better elsewhere. First-The location is right on the corner on sunset Blvd in a nice spot. Decent size place as well. There’s a separate part that’s closed off on it’s own. That’s the cigar bar I believe. Looked nice and cozy. The main bar/restaurant was nice. Decent amount of seating. Didn’t seem like a big bar but had a full bar. The music wasn’t to loud so was able to talk and hear each other well. Our server was very friendly. Attentive and informative on the menu. I will say though it’s priced on the basis of higher quality meals. They were good. But for what the price was, not equal. One thing that threw me off was a bottle of Jameson. That you can buy anywheres for less than $40 was $300 to order the bottle. That seemed outrageous to me. Second-The food was good. But for what I got, I can get better elsewhere for the same price. We started off with some drinks. I just had a lager that I assume was brewed for them. It was good. I definitely recommend. My fiancé got this strawberry vodka cocktail. She wasn’t a fan. To sweet but I liked it I thought it was good. We started off with pretzel bites. But they were honestly just bread baked olive oil and garlic. For our meals I got the salmon dish. It was alright. Good portion size, but nothing about it really stood out to me. My fiancé got the 1/2 chicken and it was delicious. Definitely try it. Great portion size. Our friend got the tri tip sandwich and that was also pretty good. She loved it. Overall it’s a good spot. But if you’re in LA and visiting I think there’s better spots for a good meal for a similar bill. This is a good like hang out and drink kind of spot in my opinion

I come here for dancing events only. The bartenders are one of a kind, the only dancing place around town where they would give tap water without charging you for a bottle. Last Saturday I came it was dead at 12:30 am and finished early at 1:40 am. They still charged for entry which is not fair considering they only gave us an hour. Double shot of Bulleit which is a lower end of bourbon is $35, unjustified in a place like that. Good ambience, good people, never trouble. UPDATE I came for a stand up comedy night and got a drink at the bar (again, $35 for a double shot of Bulleit, no double special or anything). The bartender Skye and the other guy who was pouring the drinks were busy chatting up their friends/regulars, so when I got my drink and asked for the tab to be closed out, she put the bill in front of me with no pen. I didn’t think much of it, had nothing to sign it with, took my credit card and watched the show. Next day I realized there’s a $41 charge on my card instead of $35. When I called the venue to investigate, I had to tell the story to 2 different people before being told that the “unclosed” tabs are charged with automatic 20% gratuity. Totally fine if I wouldn’t actually close my tab out the minute it was opened. Waiting to hear from them, in the meantime, not coming back and won’t recommend this place to anyone.

State Social House in West Hollywood offers a laid-back, multi-level experience combining dining, drinking, and entertainment. Known for its casual yet vibrant atmosphere, it features a rustic tavern aesthetic with wood-paneled interiors and an inviting outdoor patio for enjoying California’s weather. The venue also includes a cigar lounge upstairs, appealing to those seeking a unique, intimate vibe. The menu covers a range of American comfort foods with a modern twist, including favorites like burgers, flatbreads, and truffle fries, alongside a well-rounded drink menu featuring craft beers, cocktails, and wines. Service is generally friendly and efficient, though some patrons note that it can get busy during peak hours, affecting wait times. Overall, State Social House is ideal for casual gatherings, weekend brunches, or a night out with friends, offering a lively social setting in the heart of the Sunset Strip.

If I could give a zero today I would. I come here very often after work. I would consider myself a frequenter of the establishment and today my experience was not as typical. I normally have one of the two Spanish bartenders in the hookah/cigar seating area and have no issue sitting for tables that aren’t sat at any hour of the day. Today the server Karen denied seating to all that were entering as she said she was “done seating walk ins” more than likely for whomever she considers to be “her regulars” and blocked tables for because on open table the reservations were WIDE OPEN. I made a reservation for 15mins after I walked in and They added a catch that only restaurant and outdoor seating are available to book to reserve so how are the tables in cigar seating “blocked”. Very disappointing, nasty and discriminatory behavior of her. I would never want to be served by someone picking who they serve because you never know who’s trying to spend their money. Very terrible customer service skill Karen. The...
