UNSAFE, NOT HELPFUL, NOT pet “friendly” all leading to having to call the police to save the lives of my kittens). Because of a gas leak in our air conditioning, I needed to get a “pet friendly” room for me self and 3 cats. An already stressful situation became a nightmare. I was able to get the cats (all in travel crates), litter and box, and food to the room with folding travel cart (around the size of a travel shopping cart). After settling them in, I pulled my cart backwards to avoid any possible flight risk from my two 10 month old kittens) who had already began exploring the top of the cabinets and the new environment. Less than 10 minutes I return with my second load and safely try minimize kitty flight risk. After the door was shut I looked around and found the oldest, but the kittens are nowhere in sight and the room is silent. This doesn’t happen. I have a picture of them at 6:28 pm exploring the high cabinets and room. I am pretty good at finding things, especially holes, little places to hide, or random places they get themselves into. I searched the room top to bottom, checked all furniture, all cabinets, or anything that could have been moved or opened in some way. Usually the sound of treats or their favorite toy gets a meow out of them. Still nothing. Even though I was preset certain they BOTH couldn’t have escaped when I left I informed the office manager, staff, and and random guests. No sightings…which again is weird bc they are hard to miss. I check the entire perimeter with a laser pointer, their toy bell, and the whistle they come running to. It was like they vanished. I returned to the room about 845pm and was crying when I heard he first meow. I swear it was coming from the walls. I know this sounded crazy, maybe wishful thinking, and I checked every wall I could see for any whole, something that could be pushed through…like the ceiling squares in some hidings and found nothing. I again alerted the manager and even told him “I know this is crazy but I think I hear them in the walls” He looked at me like I was crazy and I shed me the best” I also told someone else who I not want to get in trouble as they had a lot of maintenance, upkeep, and cleaning staff onsite ending their shift. One kind soul told me, “I believe it. It isn’t crazy with some of the things I have seen” It took me two hours of searching and more activity figuring out where the meowing was coming from when I found then hidden, but disturbing hazardous hole in the wall. I was on to of the counter…two feet from the ceiling…wen using my phone flashlight I saw the top of the shoes didn’t extend to the other wall as it appeared from the front. Pictures will show better. Basically my 2 kittens fell or jumped down a 18 in hole vertical…abbot six horizontal…hidden by a nailed piece of wood making it look like the area was sealed. They were down there. Help from the new person on duty was no help at all. He told me he could not call anyone because he didn’t have anyone’s number and at 630 am (12 hours later) he would alert the maintenance and manager coming in to help. He also told me he would pray for me. At this point I alerted him I was and did call the police for help. I went back to the room and the kitten nigh named Spider-Man was on the counter and the other got up but fell trying to pull herself up. I put my arm in and a rusted nail scraped my arm to the point I am getting a tetanus shot today. There were so many rusted and exposed nailed in this six to eight foot drop. I was able to use her fishing line toy and laser to guide her up again as the police arrived. While they didn’t have to assist furthest they did inform me the hole was a hazard and they would have assisted in breaking down the wall and the hotel would be liable. At 12:30pm they left. I used the pots and pans and other creative items to ensure they didn’t get back down. They actually tried as they are kittens who explore. The icing non this poisonous cake was that there were no options for changing rooms while online you could...
Read moreHorrible odor. It was a total disaster. I was booked for seven nights. Spent the first two nights in a room that smelled really bad very moldy with an oppressive odor almost like vomit particularly from the sofa bed. It appears it’s from years of accumulated cooking in the rooms where there is no adequate ventilation to the outside, guests spilling food etc. The odor has seeped into the carpets, window treatments, elevator, hallways etc.
I spent the next two nights in another room which was a little better but I eventually gave up and moved to another hotel after four nights. The second room had a very distinct smell of mold in the kitchen and in the bathroom.
Zero stars would be appropriate but I’m giving one because of friendly staff. I would never stay there again or recommend anyone to stay. Check the reviews carefully before you book you will see the odor issue mentioned in a number of reviews going back two or more years. Because I had guests that stayed there and were very happy there more than 15 years ago I didn’t bother to check reviews which was a mistake.
It’s a fantastic location I hope they can do something to improve the ventilation otherwise it is a health hazard. I even suggested opening the windows in the stairwells to let the stale air escape but nothing was done.
It completely ruined my Thanksgiving week. I had to pay attention to the repairs being done at my property and to my office work but the odor issues took up so much of my time. I ended up packing and unpacking three times. I also had to do the laundry for all my clothes in the new hotel because they ended up smelling bad from the odor. My girlfriend was supposed to join me for Thanksgiving and I was too embarrassed about the hotel and had to cancel with her and spend Thanksgiving day alone.
I was offered a free night and lots of talk about giving me points which honestly I don’t care about. I guess maybe because I checked out earlier I never received those. So basically got nothing for all the aggravation I went through. Worst hotel experience of my life and I’m almost 60 years old and have stayed at many places in many different countries. Beware.
I don’t blame the staff for this, this is the responsibility...
Read moreWe booked a two-bedroom suite and a studio for two nights to be with a family member having surgery at nearby Cleveland Clinic. Arrived at 9:00 p.m. and checked into both rooms. The studio seemed ok but was humid - the air conditioning was not dehumidifying the room properly. The two-bedroom had obviously not been cleaned. Everything was grimy and there was an overwhelming smell. The beds had been made but that was the extent of it. We notified the front desk, requested and received a room change, and moved all of our belongings. The second two-bedroom room was not as dirty. It had clean sheets and might have been vacuumed. It didn't smell. We were exhausted and needed to be at the hospital at 5:30 a.m., so we decided to stay. We were told the manager would call us the following day. After spending the entire next day at the hospital, we returned to the room that evening to find only one of two beds made, and nothing else cleaned. And, no call from the manager. We could've dealt with the old, shabby, damaged furniture, the 1990s tvs, and doors that didn't fit their frames if the room was actually clean. We felt the need to wipe everything down ourselves to be comfortable staying another night. Both the kitchen and bathroom were in need of updating. The entire property was run down and in need of repair. We notified the front desk and were told we could meet with the manager the next morning. When we described the condition of the two-bedroom room and showed the manager pictures of the greasy stove, bathroom floor "stains", grimy countertops, spills in the refrigerator and microwave, etc., she called the housekeeping supervisor down to meet with us, and explained the cleaning protocol which included a "check" by a supervisor. Obviously, there was a breakdown in their system. The manager apologized and seemed very genuine, but I'm not confident that she has the ability to correct or improve the situation. She ended up comping both nights for this room. We still had to pay for the two nights in the studio. We expected a certain level of facilities maintenance and operations management from a Marriott product. We were shocked by the fact that Marriott actually put their name on...
