I am a traveling nurse and stayed here for 8 weeks. The rooms was affordable. The facility I was helping out wanted me to extend my contract because they needed the help to take care of the elderly. Well this area makes it hard to stay and care for people. Due to prices rises I can’t stay. At the end of June prices will be over $400 a night (prices going up all around here). Me being from South Beach Miami Fl where the rich and famous hangs out or live (so living there isn’t cheap either) I thought that price was insane. You can get a really nice hotel on the beach in South Beach for half the price with beach view.
Pros: The staff goes beyond to make your stay welcomed. They offer bear spray at the front desk as long as you bring it back. I wasn’t told all that when I got here. I had found that out later after I done spent $40 on a can at the store. The rooms are spacious with very nice spacious closet for 2 people and clean dressers. The bed are so comfortable where I can’t just lay on it to relax without falling asleep lol. Nice size refrigerator with plenty of drawers in the kitchen. I was able to enjoy the grill, heated pool, hot tub and fire pit outside. The lobby has plenty of space to seat at for any purpose with Tvs (never used the tv in lobby). The pool is clean.
Cons which why I think $400 a night is a little too much. Now to remind you I been here for 8 weeks. The breakfast has been the same every morning. It’s not like the breakfast is being cooked here fresh. Actually the breakfast is just frozen items that has been microwaved. Where the pool, grill and fire pit are the concrete is broken up. When I took my slides off to get in the pool the broken pieces of concrete killed the bottom of my feet. I only got housekeeping once a week which I expected that. So after first week of being here housekeeping came (I was gone hiking) and I came back later that day and I noticed my bathroom floor wasn’t mopped. I let it slide and told myself “ok housekeeping will get it next week.” Well next week came and the same thing bathroom floor wasn’t mopped. At this time my towel I stepped on to get out the shower was black from the floor. I had to go to the front desk and tell them I needed housekeeping to come back and mop the floor. Housekeeping came back next day and did my whole room again even mopped. I was very pleased. Well my last few weeks there, housekeeping came and bathroom floor wasn’t mopped (again) and the bottom of my shower curtain is nasty after being there for 5 weeks. I did not say anything because I feel like i shouldn’t have to. I shouldn’t have to tell someone how to do their job. All I wanted was my room to be clean just like how it did when I first got there. Yes the have a small stove top but only have one pan to cook with and no cooking utensils. I had to go buy my own. I stay in nothing but hotels with full kitchen and this the first that don’t have cooking utensils or more than one pan. I thought that was crazy.
I’m not downing this place because it is a nice place but not for $400 a night. Especially where I’m from, one of the most expensive place, Miami Beach. If I was here just for Glacier National Park I would make that drive and stay further away that is more reasonable. Yes this hotel is only 30 mins away from the park but I’m a person that would drive an hour or two for a more reasonable hotels. But hey I’m all about managing my money. I would stay here again but not for...
Read moreWhat you should know before booking? |If you are reading this it is probably because you saw the high customer reviews. We were attending a conference in Whitefish at Grouse Mt Lodge but all the reserved rooms at $250 were taken so we found ourselves booking with Townplace. Honestly, it isn't a resort hotel but regardless it is a fine place to stay. |During our 7 days there were just a few hiccups. First, the frig had food in it from a previous guess. Then we had a "flying" ant(?) issue. Finally, the key didn't work one evening when we returned resulting in us being out of the room a half hour waiting for the repairman. Mild problems but I want to keep this real. Here is the rest of our impressions...| 1. They have an exceptional staff. Kiam is a Wonder Woman. She does so much it's impossible to exaggerat her contributions. Similarly, Mylessa(SP?) was outstanding.|2. The property is clean and beautiful as are the views.|3. Ask! They have complimentary bear spray, sunscreen, bugspray etc just ask. They probably have it.|4. They will price match Expedia and Booking. They will not adjust the rate even when rates drop. We booked 5 months in advance. We met guess after we arrived who paid $125 per night and we paid $299. The hotel said they wouldn't adjust our rate because (?) We booked through Expedia. Expedia customer (no) service said I paid the hotel directly and they couldn't make the adjustment. So both intites claimed the other had the responsibility and authority. This was frustrating. Caveat emptor!! Not knowing that the hotel would price match I didn't contact them. The website had a price when I booked a bit higher than Expedia.|5. It is located near the park entry. About a 25 minute beautiful drive.|6. Liam told us about The Sharing Shack. A place were hikers and campers can exchange gear they can't take home on the plane. This was worth the stop. |7. There are good gluten free choices at the hot breakfast bar. Ask about items available such as Udi's chocolate chip muffins....
Read moreTraveled to visit Glacier National Park and chose this hotel to spend the week. Check in was seamless with Jason Tietema, who continued to provide excellent service throughout our stay. ||A+ for location, front desk staff: the location is a little over a mile from downtown Whitefish, a 24-hour grocery store within a block, and 30 min outside of Glacier National Park. ||A+ for amenities: one of the biggest benefits was the list of items the hotel had on hand to borrow, for free. Instead of having to pay money to rent bear spray they had it available every day for us to pickup as we headed into the park. They also had rice cookers, slow cookers, two sizes of blenders, to name a few off the extensive list.||C for breakfast: the main breakfast attendant was NOT friendly or approachable. We asked if the blue jelly next to the oatmeal was huckleberry and she shrugged and said "I don't know" and walked off. On a different day I asked if there was more half and half only to have it grabbed from my hand with a huff, with zero verbal interaction. Definite downer to start the day.||D for housekeeping: this is what kept the overall rating from a 5. We requested housekeeping every day. Each day something that needed replaced was missed: paper towels, toilet paper, kleenex, kitchen towels. On our last day we returned from a long day in the park to find our room was not touched and we had used all of our bath towels the day before. Rhonda was quick to have a new set of towels sent to us, but housekeeping had left for they day and couldn't provide information on why they missed our room. I understand staffing is tough in that area as the peak season just ended and hope this hotel can find some dedicated personnel to keep.|||Overall, would definitely visit this property when visiting the area...
