We stayed at the Cedars for four days for our spring break last week. We were so glad we picked this B&B- everything about it was perfect. The location was convenient to town and picturesque walks on the W&M campus, yet it was surprisingly quiet, parking was no-hassle, flowers were just opening up, and the breakfasts were consistently excellent. We enjoyed talking with Alex the proprietor, and it is obvious he is on a mission, constantly making improvements to the property. They had just repainted and refurbished the Patrick Henry room, and we were lucky enough to be put into it. |( 3rd floor and very large with a king size bed- it may be the largest room? But literally the most comfortable bed I've slept in in years. ) Renovations and furnishings were tasteful- respectful to the area and with nods to the general colonial time period without being tacky or overdone. Our grown daughter was in the Rebecca Rolfe room ( 2nd floor), and was very happy there as well. But honestly, every single one of the rooms I peeked in on were all very appealing. During our stay there were guests there who return every year- they were in the downstairs 1st floor suites which they chose on purpose, but for me I would always prefer the privacy of the upper floors. Another nice touch- in the garden room they leave snacks and drinks- tea, etc out all the time for the guests, so we never felt like we had to jump in the car late at night to get something to tide us over. Little details like that successfully bridge the gap between B&B's and full hotels. Thank you for all your efforts, Alex, and we'll be back the next time we're in...
Read moreI normally do not write reviews unless I have a really good or poor experience. If you are thinking of going to a Bed and Breakfast or just want a wonderful stay in Williamsburg look no further.
This is a wonderful place to stay if you are looking to up your experience by a lot at Williamsburg and spend a little more than an economy hotel. Our room was very clean and beautiful, even better than the photos, which was very important because we came with a 9 month old. The grounds are nice as well, and a short walk to Colonial Williamsburg.
Mary Susan the housekeeper was available to answer any of our questions and prepared a picnic lunch for my wife and I during our Mothers Day visit. It was delicious and we had a wonderful time.
We met Alex the owner at breakfast, and he has a wonderful spirit and is great to talk with. He prepared a delicious breakfast, constantly served us and checked in on us while we dined as well. Alex is extremely knowledgeable and has been in the area for a while, so definitely get in a conversation with him.
We even forgot our cell phone charger and the staff was nice enough to provide a charger for us to use during our stay. Even if we don’t stay in Williamsburg again, we still want to stop by and say hi! We definitely want to be coming back again if we needed to book a place in Williamsburg.
Thank you so much for making this Mother’s Day a memorable and...
Read moreWe had a lovely week in Williamsburg at this excellent bed and breakfast. Our family of four rented the cottage, which is a combination of the Dogwood and Juniper suites. It was perfectly sized for us, giving us privacy and comfort at the same time.
Favorite things about this B&B: The hosts were excellent. Kind, welcoming, and friendly. We enjoyed the daily banter over breakfast with Alex. And our rooms were immaculately prepared. The breakfasts were great. Freshly prepared on site and something different every day. We especially enjoyed the quiche and muffins. Alex changed things up to match our kid's preferences. Location, location, location!! So close to Williamsburg downtown and to the William and Mary campus. We were able to walk a lot, which was much appreciated after being indoors for the winter. We drove out to Jamestown and Yorktown but really didn't need our car when we were in town.
Overall we had a fantastic time and would welcome the chance to stay again. If you're looking for a place close to Williamsburg then...
