Really nice experience—I had spent the two previous nights in a run-of-the-mill Sheraton in NC, so when I got to Williamsburg I decided to go for the B&B experience, and it did not disappoint! Reading the (very few) negative comments—if you aren’t used to old houses, and you are going to whine about the size of the bathrooms in an old house, or not having the owners greet you 24/7, or the fact that they turn the lights on to showcase their beautiful house, or that they serve “too much” food, check into a motel and save yourself the trouble of complaining! These people do everything humanly possible to give you a nice experience—fabulous breakfasts, a coffee machine, all the snacks you could want! I was a bit worried that I would be uncomfortable not having a hotel fridge, but with all the snacks everywhere, I didn’t need anything. I stayed in the blue room and there are two lamps by the bed to read by, and a power strip by the bed to plug in your phone (which a lot of people who own old houses, including my parents, often forget about...) The rice bed was in fact identical to my rice bed at home—the only thing I would suggest is a little antique step, in case anyone isn’t used to climbing into a bed that high! Also keep in mind that historic homes may not have hand railings on front steps, so getting the key from the front porch could be an issue for anyone who needs a hand railing to go up and down those three brick stairs when there’s no one around. But once you get the key there’s a back door that’s easily accessible, and of course the main staircase has a railing, so that was no problem. I ran into one couple on the ground floor the first day, and a family and a single lady the second day, and the quiet solitude was just fine with me—I talked to everyone at the breakfasts, and Maggie the chef was just great....
Read moreI've stayed at six different hotels in the area and I can say with 100% certainty that this is the best place to stay overnight for a vacation to Colonial Williamsburg. My husband and I recently rented out the entire Williamsburg Manor Bed & Breakfast for a reunion of our friends from William & Mary, which including 13 adults and 4 small children. Staying at such a special place truly made our annual reunion the more comfortable one yet, because we could keep everyone together.
You get the best of everything here. This is a historic property, so you get that cozy colonial feel, but you also get all of the modern amenities you'd expect from a luxury hotel, including free homemade breakfast from a local chef, free wifi, free parking...the list could go on and on. There's even an honor bar where you can grab beer and wine in exchange for depositing funds in a little piggy bank.
We experienced first-hand the warm southern hospitality of our chef, groundskeeper, housekeeper and owner. Our group will never stay anywhere else for our annual reunion!
Highlights: Free southern breakfast served at 8:30am every morning by the talented chef Maggie. If you have any dietary restrictions, she can make almost anything vegan or gluten-free. 24/7 access to snack jars, coffee machine, canned sodas, Luxuriously appointed rooms with antique furniture, beautiful bedding, clean upholstery and nice toiletries Backyard patio is perfect for nighttime socializing and daytime barbecues, including a fire pit and...
Read moreI will defiantly come back. This is the cutest bed and breakfast. The home is well maintained and there is plenty of room for people to spread around. When you first arrive there is parking in the back of the house. The keys are located at the front door and they are in an envelope. I didn't love the fact that the keys to the house were out in the open with the full name of the person who reserved the room. It was a security concern of mine that is why I am not giving the place 5 stars but besides the security it was a lovely experience here. The family suite was large and could easily fit 4 people. There are 2 twin beds and 1 king size bed. There is a bathroom separating the twin beds and the king size bed. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms/ sheets were clean. The snack room was my favorite room. There are candies and snacks that are free to the guest. The coffee machine was great and you are able to have normal coffee, latte or espresso. The morning breakfast is excellent. Pancakes, bacon, eggs, bread pudding, fruit, etc. There is free wifi and a computer available. Overall this was a great place to stay and made the trip to Williamsburg...
